This was build for the Dutch but turned into a place that loved the tourists but absolutely not a tourist trap more a place loved by tourists! Great vlog!
I am a young man from Iraq, I love the country of roses, the beautiful Holland, and its beautiful, kind people. Everything is beautiful in Holland. I hope to visit it one day. I love you from Iraq. Greetings to you ❤️🌷❤️🌷❤️
I was on the same bus as you from Rai! I'm from Trinidad and Tobago and I agree Keukenhof is absolutely worth visiting and spending an entire day there. Obviously the flowers are breathtaking and the smell of the flowers while walking through the garden is absolutely incredible. I took the boat ride as well, but for me I don't think was worth it, the fields weren't very impactful from the view from the very low boats. I got a better view of the surrounding fields from the top of the windmill next to the boat loading spot, and that's free.
How crazy we were on the same bus! Thanks for the extra insight. I would think the boat is too low and the line was very long (though you can book ahead of time). I'm glad the view from the windmill was nice!
Omg! I wish I could post you a picture. I’m literally on the bus back from Keukenhof to Leiden right now. It was absolutely gorgeous and we could have not asked for better weather. So very sunny and beautiful 😍
Send it on IG 😁 I'd love to see it! instagram.com/awanderlustforlife So glad you had a great time. We are having the most amazing weather right now and glad you got to experience it ❤️
Haven't watched one of your vids in a minute but I must say your presenting skills are so impressive! Keukenhof just isn't my thing but honestly they are lucky to have you making quality videos like this, don't think I saw half of this on my visit.
Thank you! We hadn't been in a long time and I realized I should have more helpful videos from spring time around here, so Keukenhof was an easy thing to do. The one thing I forgot to mention that you might find helpful (or if you know any locals going) is that we can use our OV Chipkaart for the bus. Seems obvious, but I wasn't even sure until we got there!
In 1949, a group of leading flower bulb growers and exporters came up with the plan to create an exhibition of spring-flowering flower bulbs on the estate. The Keukenhof spring park was a fact. The park opened for the first time in 1950. It was an immediate success: 236,000 visitors. It was originally made for Dutch visitors.
Great video. I just went on Friday. My tip is allow loads of time I was restricted as was going on to Liege had only three hours and was busy. Also take your own food if you are on a budget or have special allergies. I bought a pasta for about 8 Euros. Great experience and the bus combi ticket was great. Locker for my suitcase was free.
Awesome video! I'm in Lisse for 3 months, leaving in January. So sadly, Keukenhof will be closed during my whole stay 🥲 glad to see how it looks in spring
Yes, the tulip fields in Lisse, Flevoland, and even north of Amsterdam are stunning! I did a video on visiting a few around Lisse. I don't go to Keukenhof every year but every 5 or so. It's always beautiful and changes each year and also depending on when you go since it's designed to bloom the entire time it's open.
Ohhh! I'm hoping for good weather for you. Did you see my video on the different kinds of tulip fields? That might also be good for you. Spring is so wonderful!
What a lovely video.thank u ao much for the info. I m gonna be there on 30rd of March..i hope i ll see tulips earlier than mid April❤ are dogs really allowed? I saw that only service dogs. I ll have a 3 kilo maltese with me in a special bag.will they allow that?
I concur, us dutchies don't see it as a tourist trap either, just a fun day out. We DO use it as a metaphor for "overcrowding" but as you can see in the video that's certainly not always the case, just at the height of the tourist season.
There were so many tour buses there! But as with most things, move farther from the front and things get much better with fewer crowds. It is definitely a lovely day out! I really appreciate the variety of the gardens.
I’ll be in Amsterdam end of March. The garden will just open then. Does it make sense to go there then? I ask because I’m wondering if the flowers will be in bloom.
Don't worry, they are only open for two months, so there are always things in bloom. They plan it that way. Sorry, I thought I mentioned it in the video!
Yes, you did. I somehow missed it the first time. So I rewatched it & realised you had mentioned it. Thanks for still answering my query! Appreciate it so much. @@aWanderlustForLife
April/May are the only time you see tulips with just a few early ones popping up at the end of March. Full bloom is usually late April. This was April 10
I agree its not a tourist trap I am dutch and i have only been there once about 6 years ago with my unkel and aunt from Canada and it is realy beautiful. Lots different flowers Nice video
Thank you! I also like to experience these things with visitors because it puts a different view on them. I think you are exactly right, it's so many pretty flowers that anyone can enjoy 😊
What do you recommend, when to buy the tickets? I'm planning to visit around mid april 2023, hopefully it is the best time to visit this beautiful place.
Well, I have worked in the Bollenstreek for years and have lived in Hoofddorp (the northernmost tip of the Bollenstreek) for some years now, but the Keukenhof is really something for tourists as far as I'm concerned. Nothing wrong with that, but still..... Look at the beautiful bulb fields next to the Intratuin shop in Cruquius. Then you don't have to go to Keukenhof anymore :-) By the way, I've been there, but it's not my thing.
We hope to do some tulip/flower fields soon! We were supposed to go today but I hurt myself and couldn't, so hopefully next weekend 😊 If you have any other tips, I love them.
@@aWanderlustForLife Oooh, I hope you didn't hurt yourself too much. Anyway, get well. The bulb fields will be in bloom for a few more weeks. So plenty of time for a visit.
May I ask when you actually visited Keukenhof? I am going later this week and thought it will be pretty warm, but everyone in your video was wearing thick jackets. Thank you!
Hi Jessica Part of the ground of Keukenhof originaly belonged to my ancesters, for severel generations over 100 years ago. Family of Zandvliet. BertvBemmelen
I don't quite agree with you. I think Keukenhof and many other "tourist" attractions fill a need. The Keukenhof is quite beautiful and you get to see everything the bulb fields have to offer. Nothing wrong with it. Okay, I'm not a fan of it either, but still...... it's pretty beautiful. And I think it's normal that you have to pay for some attractions. Maintenance and operation simply costs a lot of money.
More tips, real ones e.g do you need by tickets in advance, what the boat tour is about, is one day sufficient... it could have been mu h useful. Instead of simple hat and sunscreen
The official bus (from their website) is €72 for 2 people from the RAI. Even less from Schiphol, but ultimately each person has to determine what it's worth for them.

Loved Keukenhof, best place ever, beautiful! Not only the tulips but the narcissus are gorgeous too and the other various flowers!
So many amazing flowers! The orchids were unbelievable, too.

Your joyful video helped me to decide on my visit in April 2024! Since you asked, visit and video from Butchart Gardens in Victoria, Canada.
That's amazing! Safe travels.
Would love to visit , are there sitting places as you walk round ie. benches?
Absolutely!
Missing this awesome place so much...

I think this is a place to visit once but that’s it😅 I rather enjoy the real tulip fields around Lisse, free to see and stunning to see😍🌺🌸

If i have the amsterdam and region travel ticket, will i still need a combi ticket to take the bus to keukenhof or can i just get an entrance ticket?
