Realisticly, Croatia has a better goalkeeper, Gvardiol is one of top 5 defenders in the world being just 20 years old and a fresh discovery for many, and Brasil doesn't have a better one. Juranovic is better than any Brazilian full backs and Sosa is not worse than Danilo nor Alex Sandro. Modric and Brozovic would play in Brazils first 11 and there is Kovacic. That's 5-6 players in first 11 that are same or better whether you want to admit it or not. On other positions Brazil is way better and Croatia has tight bench but based on the full material this is not a huge surprise at all.

The best thing i heard during the press conferences of our coach is: "you have to realize we don't have juventus and atletico attackers anymore (like it was in 2018), our attackers are playing in the creation league and we have to work with what we have.", that's exactly it... It's not easy, they give what they can give and work really hard to exploit the weaknesses of the enemy team and play around our strengths which is almost everything except attackers. As a Croatian there is something you guys should know . Our people have a strange mentality . We go slow against "week" countries on paper and we struggle to even qualify for World Cup. Once we start playing against top teams our mentality shines . the mentality here is " so you think you can outsmart me ? let us put this to the test " . I just dont understand why everyone keeps on thinking so low against us. We have proven ourselves over and over, we were second in Russia, already kicked bunch of giants and still people doubt us. Croatia has as rich football history and passion as Brazil or any other nation. We don't count on a single name but team play. I would say the greatest streanghts of our team are being able to adapt to opponents game weather it is fast Japan or hardy Belgium and also not giving up. As my dad used to say "Ball is round" meaning anything can happen and also "Game is on till the final whistle blow" as in nothing is over till the game is done.

That is not completely true. Modric, Perisic, Kovacic, Brozovic, Lovren, Kramaric, Vida, Livakovic were all in Russia. The starting 11 however is mostly new with only Modric, Brozovic, Lovren and Perisic starting in that 2018 team with Kovacic being the first guy of the bench. However, out of the starting 11 only 4 were not in Russia: Sosa, Gvardiol, Juranovic and Vlasic. The teams backbone in midfield trio, Perisic and Lovren is very experienced and others follow their lead.

The best thing i heard during the press conferences of our coach is: "you have to realize we don't have juventus and atletico attackers anymore (like it was in 2018), our attackers are playing in the creation league and we have to work with what we have.", that's exactly it... It's not easy, they give what they can give and work really hard to exploit the weaknesses of the enemy team and play around our strengths which is almost everything except attackers. Also, the toughness and stamina of croatina players is above anyone else currently.
As a Croatian there is something you guys should know . Our people have a strange mentality . We go slow against "week" countries on paper and we struggle to even qualify for World Cup. Once we start playing against top teams our mentality shines . the mentality here is " so you think you can outsmart me ? let us put this to the test " . This strange mentality is working in really not egoistical ways but more out of pride and knowing that indeed Balkan is the top world pool for athletes . To those that are not aware you can check other sports. Hand ball = Balkan players are top in the world with most year after year best players . Same goes for Basketball , Tennis , Water polo and the list continues.

This is an almost entirely brand new squad, with not much World Cup experience at all. There are only 3 players, still on the Croatia team from the last 2018 World Cup, with 18 brand new players this year...
That is not completely true. Modric, Perisic, Kovacic, Brozovic, Lovren, Kramaric, Vida, Livakovic were all in Russia. The starting 11 however is mostly new with only Modric, Brozovic, Lovren and Perisic starting in that 2018 team with Kovacic being the first guy of the bench. However, out of the starting 11 only 4 were not in Russia: Sosa, Gvardiol, Juranovic and Vlasic. The teams backbone in midfield trio, Perisic and Lovren is very experienced and others follow their lead.

The croatia side is disciplined beyond what's being discussed. The coach is really making good calls and the players reflect it. They are not doing any of this by accident.

Yup. Morroco is the dark horse of this torunament. Belgium is FIFA ranked #2 in the world, while Japan beat Spain AND Germany. The time of the football nations like France, Germany, Spain and South american countries is done. All of the teams are professional football teams and can beat each other.

Kovacic, livakovic and kramaric where substitutes in 2018. And modric, brozovic, lovren and perisic are the Veteranens. The blend of experience, Talent and a team spirit that unites them going to the QF with this team was already impressive. They cannot disappoint us they can only bring us more joy.

There is very little else to say about Croatia, they're not a name like Brazil or France, but by now their underdog tag should get removed. People keep forgetting where Croatian players play at, last 10 CL tournaments there was always a Croat in the winning team, their midfield is sick, they're getting new young players who look like future stars, there is already talk of 100 mill for Gvardiol, also Dinamo Zagreb's youth facilities are among the best in Europe and it produced billions of worth of players so far, not just domestic ones.
