Chukwu okike in Igbo cosmology stands for the Creator. However, bear in mind that our ancestors never worshipped it. Rather, they just acknowledged it.

Good information. I also think that there is a difference between God (the creator) and gods (deities).
Deities are usually man made. Every culture has them. You can tell they are man made because Deities die when the culture that made them die.
    God (the creator) is immortal.

The is one God (the creator) but every religion try to own and personalize him/her. Chineke, osalobua, eledumare, Allah, etc are one and the same. The problem here is that we tend to believe that deities are the same as a GOD, no, deities are more like the biblical angel Michael and angel Gabriel, they are the same as ogun, isango, amadioha, etc, these deities are not God's, they are worrior spirits we surmorn to fight spiritual warfare for us and we give them different kinds of offerings and promise to give them more when are requests are granted. We must know that even the Bible God is not the creator, he is a deity that requires sacrifice too, hence the many human and animal sacrifice offered to him in the old testament and finally a human sacrifice was given to him in the person of Jesus, the honest truth is that we will never know the creator who is the true God, we only know there's a force behind this creation. I will advice that we concentrate more on knowing and understanding ourselves, I bet you, my brother osigwe, you do not know up to 10% of yourself now and you will never truly and completely understand yourself till you die, that's to tell how mysterious and powerful the creator truly is, if you cannot know yourself, how do you think you can know the creator. I think we belittle the creator every time we try to talk about it/him/her, we try to give him the attributes of human just because we are humans, I bet you, if you were a goat, you would describe the creator to be a very big and powerful goat. Let's concentrate more on ourselves and appease our ancestors and stop trying to teach what we don't understand. Lovely day guys.

This video never talked about the creator, you are the one bringing the concept of creator. This video is simply talking about African Gods vis-a-vis the European God.
Please, try to watch and comprehend before you comment or veer off into avoidable conclusions.

There is ONE HEAVEN, ONE EARTH, and ONE GOD. All gods are demons who require unending sacrifices from humans, even HUMAN SACRIFICES. I will rather worship the God who made Himself a sacrifice for me - JESUS CHRIST. Africa was not created by a different god or gods.

There was no such person as Jesus or Jesus Christ. This individual that you call Jesus or Jesus Christ is a false doctrine that was created by a roman emperor (Constantine) at a euconemical council called the Council of NICEA held in Turkey in 325 AD in which they made Serapis Sator or Serapis Christus who christians have been worshipping become Jesus Christ.(TH-cam: The 1st Council of Nicea: The Council That Created Jesus Christ!). Dr. Ray Hagins. Millions of people who called themselves christians have been misled by these false doctrines created over various councils between 325-1870 AD.

What history are you chatting about, the Somalis even before Islam believed in One God, Waaq.
The Oromo people believe in one God also, plus many other tribes in Africa.
Africa is not West Africa, nor is Africa Igbo, to say that having one God is not authentic African, you cannot prove it, by history, oral or written.

    • @Ezeikolomuo

Aside Ethiopia that got their concept of one God through their early interactions with the Jews, the Egyptian civilisation which preceded the Greek civilisation is the main recorded African civilisation. And history has it that Egypt as of then was highly polytheistic. Meanwhile, you cannot refer to Ethiopian orthodox Christianity is African religion.
Please go back to history the two cases you mentioned may be isolated, but I will not be surprised that there belief in one God started after interactions with foreign nations or cultures that have toyed with the concept of one God.
We Africans are naturally polytheistic and all ancestral religion world over are polytheistic. There are no exception to this. After all, I said in this video that the civilisation that first toyed with the worship of God was the Egypt. But Ikthanon, the king that tried it failed.
Please, with all due respect, you may need to be the one that will go back to history class. Meanwhile, West Africa, will remain a yardstick for understanding some African spirituality because they are the part of Africa that have the least or last interaction with outsiders/foreigners.
Where I am from, it's not yet up to 140 years that the first set of white invanionists/missionaries came to upscale our way of doing things. You cannot compare this with Africans that reside in Northern Africa who had contact with others about a thousand years ago in a way that can change their true African culture.

Why does it take the grace of God to understand a scripture? Does it mean the scripture is written to confuse the pure and simple? Why can't a sane mind understand what is written to be understood?
Or is this your Grace of God a case of threats and blackmail that the strong always resort to when they are found out?
