Bravo! A performance as close to musical perfection as humanly possible! It is also nice to hear the thoughts of the players themselves. Egos are left at home. The synergy is palpable when playing in a professional ensemble. It's actually addicting! 😊

Why is it that the fine musicians who perform so superbly are never listed in the notes? Let alone at the end of the clip.

Fantastic! But why not form a Brass Band with all these amazing players? I'm sure an ensemble of this stature can attract a few more brass players. Looking forward to see and hear more in future.

Different instrumentation. Brass bands are vastly different from orchestral brass ensembles. You don't always have professional cornet and euphonium and tenor horn players in the top orchestras.

There are already amazing brass bands with Black Dyke. Also. This ensemble is already amazing. Why the need to change it?

The 'sound' would not be the same. Similar to classically trained singers performing pop songs. Some cannot 'untrain' their sound or technique. In any case, the horn players would have to switch to Wagner tubas to get a bit closer to the tenor horn timbre without the need to switch mouthpieces.
Interesting thought, all the same. 🎺

Aren’t they committed to their orchestras? A gig with an orchestra like that is the dream of a lifetime. Side jobs? Sure.
Monetarily - wives, husbands, lovers, children, mortgages, etc.
“Let’s all quit and start up our own band!”

I think most consider the Chicago Symphony Orchestra brass section certainly one of the finest over a great many years. But I believe the Vienna Philharmonic brass is probably their equal if anybody is. I suspect they share a trait of striving for continuous improvement - relentlessly. And the Vienna Philharmonic has Sarah Willis as a music ambassador and the CSO doesn't have anybody like that. Does anybody?

Sarah Willis is with the Berlin Phil

Chicago has rejected David Cooper, a massive mistake by Muti. The CSO legacy will forever be tainted by this from here on out. I am officially Team Berlin/Vienna. Muti must retire. Now.
