I'm a Sam's Club member. One year my boss gave all his employees $100 gift card to Costco as part of our Christmas bonus. I used over half of my card to simply purchase the rotisserie whole chicken. My card lasted me into the start of summer. Their chicken tastes better than Sam's IMO.
Especially now since Sam’s Club made the bone head move of changing their ovens. Its now a big air fryer and it sucks. Costco still has the classic roasters and their chickens are bigger besides being way juicier than Sam’s Club.
@@ladytea697 Not my Sam's. I asked when I went last Friday [10.20.23] and the chicken cooker guy said "No", but they are updating their ovens, ...but not getting air fryers.
It's because they lose money to make money. Like a casino with free drinks. Costco will lose money on chickens and hot dogs to make more money when people shop. A lot of people think they are saving money by buying in bulk. Some things are but others it's actually more expensive.
I went into a publics and the price of a rotisserie chicken was 8.99 ,so I called Costco and ask If i could come buy just one chicken because it was like pharmacy food for the soul ,they said no so I asked if they could start selling the whole cooked at the food court ,the manager said he would look into it.I got chicken on my taste buds so I was not going to give up,I then asked if I could borrow a chicken for 4.99 and promise to buy a membership on pay day,the answer was still no and you could see the ripples starting to form on his fore head at that point I attempted to ask one more question and he blurted out just go and get 1 chick and no more and man did it taste good when I got home.I wore him down but the next day I sent an e-mail to the corporate office and recommended the he be the employee of the year. I love that Costco's chicken.
Not to mention it's made of animal parts, like the whole animal! Can you believe it! the whole animal ! directly into the incinerator! FDA outright prohibited the use of hormones.
This is 25% of the chicken weight from each. FY21 states 38k pounds recovered but do not disclose what it is. There is services out there that do recycle this fat but not so sure if there is one in place
It's simple. You have to have a membership to shop there. Basic membership is $50 a year. Let's say 50,000,000 people buy a membership. That's $2,500,000,000 a year not including store sales.
I know these animal farm shots get people talking but let's stay away from the binary arguments. A chicken's brain is the size of a shelled peanut, it does not process its lifestyle with the same awareness or value as we do, and its life (on a food farm) is rather short. Projecting humanity onto an animal is not the same as treating it decently.
I used to work in the deli at COSTCO and made these chickens on a daily basis. They are DELICIOUS!!!!! But it was a BITCH cleaning that oven every night!!!! Lol!!!!
Terrible what costco has done to their chicken in Washington state; particularly the Bellingham location. We used to buy it there for years. But they changed the spicing somehow and the chicken literally keeps us up all night like we had 3 espressos. What the heck did they change or use to make the chicken inedible if you intend to sleep at all??
No big mystery. It's what they call a "loss leader", and all big stores do it. For some stores it's soda. Others it's bottled water. It can be different products at different times. Costco's loss leader happens to be chickens.
Costco chickens are raised with growth hormones and kept in a large farm with no sunlight even eating their own feces to stay alive. Great deal at what price?!
Here in Australia we pay heaps less for rotisserie chicken from Woolworths and Coles. But we then get the rolls, tomato sauce aka ketchup butter and maybe a leafy salad. The salad cost nearly as much as the chicken lol.

I am up with Costco in savings, I only buy their gas, whole cooked chickens, paper towels and tissue paper by far the cheapest for the quality, hot dog and soda combo don't forget their free samples. Sure i am not their target market but heck i don't pass on a good bargain, besides i get everything else home delivery to me from Amazon so i save everywhere i can.
I am debating on whether or not to get a membership. Does the limited stuff you buy actually save you more than 60 bucks? I foresee myself only buying similar items, plus dog food. It seems like it would...
@@ch0mper I've done the numbers for my membership and I make back the membership fee on gas alone (I'm an Uber driver, mind you). Add in the food court and chicken, and I have no doubt I'm saving money.
Desert Guy: i saved by switching to Geico & I don’t even own a car
@@ballwizz23
I've done the math as well. I make back the membership fee on the gas alone as well, at just 35l a fill up once a week.
Walmart still has a 5 dollar chicken where I live. They sure are tasty . The local super markets went to 7 or 8 dollars and do not even spice them.
Their chickens are less than 2 lbs where Costco chickens are 3 lbd
I've had both Kroger and Walmart rotisserie chickens, but never Costco. I had a Walmart one for Christmas and it was seasoned with paprika, garlic and lemon. YUM!
I’m Costco costumer every month we spending $300 to $400 for 3 people plus we still picking up some stuff from Kroger and sprouts (local stores) so I don’t know if Costco is the best place to keep grocery bill down
Why are there like 10 comments of this all from different people lol
WonderRoast chicken from the 80's was the best chicken. I use the containers from rotisserie chicken for mini greenhouses, when starting seeds. Also cake and, pie, and cookie containers.

I can't hate on Costco. One of life's pleasures on this mundane realm
During the holidays you gotta stand by in a line tryna get this chicken but it’s so worth it!
The one time I was pleased at a random TH-cam recommendation
I had this very conversation with my Mother earlier today. I told her that I am going to post my recipe for Crock Pot rotisserie chicken. She told me how much it cost at Costco, and I wondered why anyone would even bother cooking.
Then I thought about it. If you want organic, free range chicken, or a special seasoning style you would need to make it yourself.
pumped with salt and water. you pay for what you get
That water n salt tastes good!
I always get the chicken at costco, but I never leave with just the chicken.
We are getting a Costco this summer can’t wait

Dubai has flying taxi's, so we have the flying car and now we are starved.....another chicken please
I buy their tasty $10.00 pre-made bulk chicken salad and then some fresh bread & lettuce to make sandwiches for days, just keep it all cold in the fridge. Talk about saving a boat load of money on lunches....... man! You're welcome! ":^)
Is their chicken salad made from leftover rotisserie?
Bring me a sammich to work tomorrow
Spot on
Zoetropeification........ No, but it's the same rotisserie chicken they sell whole and has that rotisserie flavor (all white meat too). It's just they just have so much in bulk and it keeps the people flowing in. It really does have a great taste and there's plenty to pile on and get a real hearty sandwich. I mean you can add to it if you want to dress it up further but it comes ready to go on the bread. I'm like....does anyone else know about this deal? WOW!!! Think about how much you would spend on a sandwich even for a couple of days worth. Just buy your bread of choice ad lettuce if you like and voila' a big juicy chicken sandwich. BAM!!! ":^)
Victor Matthews...... extra mayo and pickles? ":^)
Either way, their chicken is still delicious!
You should have titled this:
"4 Minute Costco Ad"
That's funny. I just bought a chicken from there and was wondering how and why they sell it so cheap. Thanks for the explanation!

@@clay89593 1000s of years eating meat. Being vegan won't change shit. Milk doesn't harm them or kill them. You get milk from the adult cows. Eggs are taken before the chick inside is remotely close to being made. They need their mothers warmth to even start. So no chicks are harmed. Dairy products start from milk so, again no harm.

It's called a loss leader

Gotta say I went to Costco for a chicken and but bought a $2000 TV on the way out.
It's $7.99 here in Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
we love Costco for the quality and price point.
They are the best deal in town !
Probably the worst quality "chicken". I'll pass on that. Hormones, antibiotics, etc. YIKES!
Not to mention it's made of animal parts, like the whole animal! Can you believe it! the whole animal ! directly into the incinerator!
FDA outright prohibited the use of hormones.
"Worst Quality Chicken?" You're a fucking dumbass, I'd rather not explain as you're fucking brain wouldn't process the damn *INFORMATION.*
My costo is so full all the time it looks like they are selling stuff for free
Question where all the fat goes after cooking. Sewer or liquid fat recycle center? If not each city can sew them and make a solution
Those chickens don't see the sun or any other thing, only chickens and feed. By any measure that is a cruel existence.
Then lets put them out of their misery and eat more of them!!
I raise chickens, and contrary to you idiot liberals, they are meant for food and do a good job of providing it.
Why did they quit selling that delicious carrot cake. I have not been able to find out. I want to know
Even Chef Jacques Pepin likes Costco rotisserie chickens..😄
The way they're telling the customer that's a chicken's name is whatever was freaking hilarious! I can't stop laughing!

Costco is definitely cheaper but they always get me spending over $200 lol.
I go to Sam's Club for the rotisserie Chicken and Costco for the hot dog, for better tastes.

Best chicken on the planet! Thank you Costco!
It works. There are times I go there and the chicken is the only thing on my mind.. $50 later and I am still happy because of the chicken.
No big mystery. It's what they call a "loss leader", and all big stores do it. For some stores it's soda. Others it's bottled water. It can be different products at different times.
Costco's loss leader happens to be chickens.
It's $4.98 at Walmart.
Don't buy any Cooked food from Walmart !
@@mikemotteberg3527 No. I buy it at Costco.
@@heru-deshet359 I guess I get it now, $4.98 that is one cent cheaper, I should have known.
Costco chickens are raised with growth hormones and kept in a large farm with no sunlight even eating their own feces to stay alive. Great deal at what price?!
What price you ask?
$4.99
Thanks for the video, I truly appreciate the information
You answered your own question on why the cooked is cheaper than the raw. They go bad faster. Plus doesn’t take much labor for rotisserie chicken
The only thing I hate about Costco is that they removed the Polish Hot dogs...
Which in turn has probably helped to increase your life span.
But the All Beef hot dogs are good also
And the Chocolate soft serve.
I bought one of those from Safeway one time and I got so sick at least 24 hours
Leo Plotter I bought a organic rotisserie chicken from Whole Foods and got deathly ill. I’ll spare the details.
Yet SAFEWAY and WHOLE FOODS are not making the news as "chicken offenders".
I wonder why?
My guts are always sick for a week after eating one of these. Bowel discomfort, excess gas, loose stools. I have banned myself from eating them.
Is the Singularity here?
Here in Australia we pay heaps less for rotisserie chicken from Woolworths and Coles. But we then get the rolls, tomato sauce aka ketchup butter and maybe a leafy salad. The salad cost nearly as much as the chicken lol.
We get a rotisserie chicken here in the UAE for like AED5 (1.5$approx).
Let’s be honest, they’d make the same amount of sales if it was $7.50
