Hello! As a Haiphong citizen and love my city the most, I'm on nine cloud for finding out your video and hearing you share your nice thoughts about it ❤ Thanks for taking a chill tour to our city!
That dog was too cute as a mini-lion. Wow, I cannot believe he gave you that much free roast pork. Would be nice to give him something back...maybe that pomelo you got. LOL!
Thanks for sharing some video of Haiphong. I'm going to be in Hanoi in a couple weeks. Going to plan for two or three days visiting Haiphong. Looks like it has a great vibe.
That's amazing that you are not only willing to try the duck blood but you also enjoy it. It's not a dish that most foreigners would appreciate. Well done mate. Keep on exploring.
Love your views as visitor to Haiphong. As someone who was born there, I overlooked a lot of small stuffs in HP but you show even those small things are amazing. Btw, funny you mentioned "HP people are no BS" because that is literally a local saying in Vietnam "Hải Phòng là không lòng vòng" = "HP means no BS"
Because Asian countries respect "face" and "giving face" which is essentially a way of giving respect, you address the person's title when speaking to them. When you say hello or goodbye, you address them with a higher title as if they are older than you because age = wisdom which is highly regarded. Try adding uncle (bác or chú) or auntie (Cô). In cases of equal rank, you say (Anh for slightly older brother), (Chị for slightly older sister) or (Em for younger brother/sister). That will gain you even more respect during conversation because it shows good manners. People also like to be flattered though so even if they are obviously an uncle/auntie, you can still say older brother/older sister to indicate that they are still youthful. I know, we're a very contradictory culture hahaha. Try saying "Xin chào Anh" or "Xin chào Chị". You can often drop the "Xin" because that's very formal way of speaking so it becomes more conversational.
@@EllisWR 1 is the roasted pork piece that bald guy gave you and her. 2 is roasted duck where you were walking on street, then you bought Trà Chanh 10k at small drink shop. There is many delicious food at the whole street
Hey Tyler I really appreciate it 🙏 I use a little Sony FDR x3000 I really like it, super lightweight, good audio just not as stable as other cameras and has no screen!
I think Haiphong is the most underrated city in VN. It has a bright future, its old town and its new section is very well laid out with wide sidewalk. Its location gives it tremendous economic and trade wealth while being so close to Halong Bay allows its tourism sector and hospitality sector to grow as well. But I get the distinct feeling that Haiphong authority does not put a lot of resources into tourism promotion, its priority is economic and port industry, for obvious reason. It doesn't get the attention so there are few tourists, even domestic ones, so in the age of social media Haiphong doesn't get the attention it deserves. Its food is awesome so it's a shame. But I guess in a way it's good, VN will have another hidden jewel that it can spring on the world in the future.
I'm glad it doesn't get the foreigners because if it did it would become another Hanoi and get overrun. Right now it's incredible, amazing people and some of the best food yeah we love it 🇻🇳❤️
@@EllisWRI born and living at the Hải Phòng now,I often told eveyone when they visit to HP,HP very lucky when have not too much building, tower so no traffic jam,no flood, the air very fresh and clean, food is cheap, good and quality, people very friendly.
Lived there for 4 years. Toughest and kindest people you'll ever meet. However, the weather will break you: 7 months sauna day and night unbearable humidity April-October, 1 month comfortable November, 2 months December-January freezing winter, then 2 months February-March rain and typhoons. Only one city in ALL SE Asia that doesn't get hot - Dalat Vietnam. Apart from the weather, it is a great city to start a family and take life seriously. And the street food is really good - but be warned, you will see cooked dog at the markets.
Workers will have 2 Saturdays and 4 Sundays off. Depends. And on their days off, they will go to cafes, drink coffee or go to the market to buy food to cook for the whole family to eat together.
Love your vids! I was just in Haiphong about a month ago and it was amazing as you stated. Can't wait to come back and explore more. I would appreciate your feedback on the videos I made from my trip. Still more to come (Danang etc). Check 'em out if you have time.. thx

Dad’s great grandparents moved from China to Haiphong during the Qing dynasty. Why is Haiphong so run down ?
It's a gritty port city I love it
