Shota's the real deal - another Japanese baseball superstar taking over the MLB
I'm very happy that Japanese people are appreciated.🇺🇸⚾️🇯🇵
0.84!!!!❤
And he got a no decision again because cubs bats. they'll come around
Video game numbers‼️
Shota Imanaga has a chance to win the Cy Young and definitely Rookie of the Year award. Remember Jecob DeGrom in 2018 won the Cy Young went 10-9 with 1.71 ERA. And again in 2019 went 11-8 with 2.43 ERA. The Mets never scored runs for him but dominted with a great ERA like Shota Imanaga ⚾️
@@Emerson-vv8bw 10-"9" with 1.71 ERA...! I'm always sad to see numbers like these.. 😂
Ridiculous!!
After all, it was the standing ovation from Chicago Imanaga fans when the score was 0-2 in the seventh inning with two outs and runners on 1st and 2nd base in a pinch.
A standing ovation usually occurs after a strikeout or a home run, but before the last pitch, everyone stood up and applauded, giving Shota strength in his pitching. It was the best moment.
This is omitted in most digests, but in real life, everyone lent their strength to Shota, and in that moment when Shota struck out and roared in response to the fans, the hearts of Shota and the fans became one. I was moved to feel it
They really should have shown that.
No pitcher in major league history has posted a lower mark through their first nine career starts
His pitch is a must-see show
the guys been pitching Pro for 10 years now. duh duh duh ....
fyi, Nippon has been playing Base-Ball for 150 years now...
fwiw, in reality he is just a common poorman's Masaichi Kaneda or Atsushi Aramaki
@@tamehamehaprints3604Your opinion on what a MLB rookie is and should be, doesn't matter. A rookie in MLB is defined as a first year player in the league. It's as simple as that.
If Vote today Shota Wins CY hands down ! Wow he is amazing ⚾💪
Shota is definitely getting some Cy Young votes
Why is he not the favorite, if his ERA is really that low ?
He should be getting all?
In an alternate universe where Cy Young voting takes place in the first third of the regular season, he would be the clear NL favorite. In our universe, Cy Young talk may be a bit premature at this point.
Obv he is going to get rookie of the year and CY young
Has a pitcher ever been top 5 in whip and era and NOT won cy young?
He's the man closest to winning the Cy Young Award right now.
Cy Young, MVP, and RoY.
philosopher strikes again 💪
Socrates of baseball
I think the crowd fuels him.
Sushi 🍱
He is a Member of WBC Win team.
Started the final.
he is from japan. he is JAPPONEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHZ
?? : 「A monkey never cramps!!」
And he is the starting pitcher for the WBC final(Japan vs US).
It was the WBC final, with Imanaga starting and Shohei Ohtani finishing.
4 years 50 million is a steal
That's cause he's not a gold digger like the rest of the league. He actually had to pick up the phone and call the cubs to get signed.
Yup, better than 12yrs @ $325M
Steal of the century looking like
That's still a lot of money...
Yeah 4/53M is looking like the bargain of the century. Love this dude’s energy. Now if the cubs can just score some runs for him
今永先生おめでとう🎉 byベイファン
"Only pitchers with sub 1 ERA can use the excuse that there is lack of run support."

ついにそれを言う時が来た
Shota is the best in the league. That's that.
100% No matter what A's fans & Pirates fans say about Miller & Skenes. Shota is the real deal. 👨⚾🇯🇵
He has been so far. But it’s still early. Cubs must be kicking themselves for not giving him a bigger contract. He can opt out after next season and he will likely be wayyyyyyy more expensive
still early. It's still May.
Ranger Suarez
Suarez may have a word or two
The best off-season acquisition. No doubt!!
easy pick👆
日本人初のCy Young Awardは今永がとるべき
The letter "C" shining brilliantly on his cap is that of the Cy Young.
Standing Ovation👏
ERA still under 1. Whoa!!
Blessings from Taiwan 🇹🇼 😇 🥰
Hope Shota will keep this up and win an award 🏆
Jesus loves everyone 😇 💝
Best pitcher in MLB at the moment!
His ERA of 0.84 is the best in nine starts since his debut, which ranks first in history.
Breaking the record held by Valenzuela for the first time in 43 years.
duh, he has been a Pro for 10 years now, he is in his 30's. Iveknown himsinse 2014... duh duh
fyi..... Nippon has been playing this funny Base-Ball thang for only 150 years now..
over half of the best pitchers Base-Ball History played in Japan. ie Henry Bozo Wakabayashi, Masaichi Kaneda, Victor Starffin, Kazuhisa Inao, Takehiko Bessho, Hideo Fujimoto...... alohahahaha
Shota is definitely a contender for the Cy Young award!
Not a “contender.” He’s going to win the Cy Young if he keeps this up.
contender? He's the front runner.
its been 1/4th of the season and yall are talking about cy young lol. There's an longggg way to go still, relax
@@robotbro7187 we can dream and enjoy it while it lasts though. especially since the Cubs are still guaranteeing a loss every 5th game with Hendricks on the mound.
lol, no one's close right now. you're a funny kook
Shota Imanaga was the ace of my beloved Yokohama DeNA BayStars! I'm proud! ! American bro, please join us in supporting the "Throwing Philosopher"! !
We will take good care of him in Chicago and he is already more than taking care of us! The Throwing Philosopher is the best pitcher in the MLB!!!

awesome!
This guy is elite. Hes giving the cubs quality starts with sub 1 ERA yet this is 3rd straight non decision. Thats just not fair for him. The offense needs to step up man
If he played for a better team, he would have had 9 straight wins in his record.
Thats been the issue. Last game he pitched. It was 0-0 till the pitcher change and boom they lost.
@@neerajnongmaithem392 To be fair the Cubs are very good, they have just had their best players inured the whole season. One after the other.
@@joen8529 Crazy to think they're over .500 and only 2 games back of the Brewers even with all the injuries.
Congratulations Cubs fans, you have a real good one there. Great to watch even if you are not a Cubs fan.

ERA below 1? Amazing
Imanaga is definitely the favourite to win the NL Cy Young, no one else is even close. If he finished the season with an ERA of 1.80ish and 12 wins it's over for everyone. He might even win the NL MVP if the Cubs goes deep in the playoff.
He might win ROY, Cy Young, and MVP. Has anyone ever done that in the same year?
@@Jason_Voorh3es might? What's wrong with your English? There is no might with Imanaga, he will win ROY and Cy Young and NL MVP.
@@jackyshin3045 i’m saying might, because we don’t know if he’s going to be this good for the whole season. besides, Mookie betts, and Shohei ohtani are still contending for the NL mvp as well.
@@jackyshin3045 quit smoking crack my guy
Suarez is 1st in wins, 2nd in ERA, and 1st in WHIP.
Great run support cubs...
Probably one of the best pitchers alive rn
he is THE best pitcher alive right now, no debate.
Where have cubs sluggers gone???? Shota never complains though.
During his time in Japan, he said
"Only pitchers with ERA of less than 1.0 have the right to complain that their team doesn't score runs."
Cubs low key should just trade Yokohama Baystars roster already. Unironically I think Baystars coming with Imanaga would be solid MLB team lol.

すげー!!!😮😮😮
This guy might already be a better pitcher than Ohtani
Got my vote for cy young at the moment
He’s got my vote for MVP right now.
lol..he gets every vote
Rookie of the Year and Cy Young at the same time. Has that ever happened
Fernando Valenzuela won Rookie of the Year and a Cy Young in 1981, I think.
I can only recall Ichiro winning Rookie of the year and MVP at the same time. I don't recall a pitcher though.
Shota Imanaga has a chance to win the Cy Young and definitely Rookie of the Year award. Remember Jecob DeGrom in 2018 won the Cy Young went 10-9 with 1.71 ERA. And again in 2019 went 11-8 with 2.43 ERA. The Mets never scored runs for him but dominted with a great ERA like Shota Imanaga.
Imanaga's control is S+ tier. Reminds me a bit of Maddux.
Shota shows one thing that spin rate might be more important than velocity.
Beautiful to watch too.
That fastball up high mixed in with splitter is deadly
I love Imanaga, I just wish the offense could match as well.
Shota is unbelievable!!!! 🔥
I love watching Shota!
Long live japan. They rules mlb
良い投球をするのに100マイルのストレートも高い身長も必要ない
すべての子供たちに希望を与える投手
怪物級。彼は今の成績は調子がいいだけと言っていた。でも今、日本で彼が求めていた投球ができているのは事実。
凄い。
now we have another SHOtime in chicago!!
He was a good starter as Baystars, and now is even BETTER one as Cubs, which I didn't expect.
同じくここまで活躍するとは思わなかった
If he keeps this up, he might actually be NL MVP.
Cubs would be better if they had Yokohama hitters. Plus Imanaga.
@@user-ss9et3hz6ycubs know how to develop pitchers
Imanaga-sama Banzai! 🇯🇵
He joined this stage at 30's age, didn't get more attention than any new asian player like Yamamoto, Matsui or Lee...
But showing more powerful pitching than any young player......like monster.
Damn...he's Kaiju No.8 of MLB.
怪獣8号が世界に広まっているのは嬉しいことだね。
Crunchyroll be hyping up that show I had no choice but to get sucked into it
this guy is on fire.
I'm proud of you as a Japanease!
He just so cool !!!
invisible fastball😂
Shota Imanaga is proud of the Yokohama Bay Stars.
I didn't expect this great history-making pitching from him when I heard his news going to MLB. Yamamoto ( Dodgers) had much bigger expectations than Imanaga. But Imanaga is making his lifetime greatest moment.
Yamamoto was younger. Imanaga would have gotten a bigger contract if he was younger and too.
Just don’t use him like a rented mule to get more wins, give him min 5 days rest not 4 to keep him healthy.
It’s been 10 days and 6:40 pm can’t come quick enough this evening😂
Get him some run support!
They have plenty of bats just was an off day for them.
@@Nick9ThreeIt's always an off day for them any time Shota pitches. This was his third straight no decision. The last 2 starts, he left the game when it was 0-0.
He could have 3 or 4 more wins right now if the Cubs' bats showed up.
@@pomerlain8924 they are 12th in the league in runs scored per game
@@Nick9Three But look at the runs they score in his starts. 0 today. 0 in his start against Atlanta. 1 run total during his innings pitched against the Padres. 1 run in his start against the Mets. The last game in which he had suitable run support was against the Red Sox.
The flow is unreal
Would be awesome if Shota and Yamamoto compete for the Cy Young
Shota the magician!
Dude is giving a dissertation on pitching, you don’t need to throw gas if you have absolute control. His career is probably going to be more healthy as a pitcher because of it.
He’s already 30 years old.
With his speed he might pitch till 40@@Jason_Voorh3es
He should be 9-0
We must not forget that the Japanese bench chose Shota Imanaga as the starting pitcher for the U.S. team, the strongest opponent in the WBC finals.
Interesting that the best pitcher in the MLB throws a 91 mph fastball.
I am Japanese.I'm glad he's doing well on the big stage.I hope the Cubs will win the World Series.Don't lose to the Dodgers! Hang in there!

I wish Shota and Skenes had gone head to head during this weekend. That would have been a pitching match up to behold.
that's crazy i remember everybody was going crazy for Yamamoto but Shota is outshining him
His 4 year salary = Yamamoto's sign bonus
He is the pitcher who started in the WBC final.
Imanaga Sensei tricked on MLB batters again today after only 3.5 days from last time.
crazy good. booth is right, if you get Acuna to swing thru a FB middle-middle you know you got something special cuz he doesn't miss those.
