In today's video we visit the 7th Chiki Chiki Drift event, held at Autopolis in Oita Prefecture in Japan. There are all kinds of drifters out here, from beginner to D1 Pro. That pro would be Katsuhiro Ueo, most famous for his Sift AE86, but no piloting an S15 sponsored by Z.S.S.

Over 12 minutes of JDM drifting, and even a stance event going on at the same time! This is the biggest drift day I have filmed since I've been here!
What a fun event and a nice little track, too! A couple extra feet of runoff would have saved a few cars from cosmetic damage, but 仕方がないねw
Ueo-san was a BEAST with that backwards entry, wow!

No problem, I'll definitely for sure! Oh yeah, have you ever got a chance to meet up with Mr. Gen Terasaki of GT Works? He's based in Oita and he was one of the former D1 drivers to use AE86 and the S2000. I believe a acquaintance of Ueo as well.

I need to travel more! I guess when the car is more completed, I will need to save money to travel lol.
When do we get to see you out on track drifting Dustin?
SNSTR Auto I’d like to give it a go this fall, but I’m not for sure, because I myself I’m going to be saving for some travel home for a visit. Also saving a bit for a house.
I’m actually waiting for time at the garage, so I can do some things to button her up, also.
And I think when I come home, I am going to buy some stuff to make my own oil cooler kit. No way I can go in the summer without it. Ever with oil coolers here... cars are boiling over.
eXite Video Magazine that’s crazy!! I guess stateside you can measure and looking at transmission oil cooler kits and find the biggest you can fit?
Yeah, I think I'm going to go for a B&M cooler, since I think it's the best trade off between budget and performance. I'm thinking 19 Row, which B&M listed as pretty much letter sized paper. I think I can fit that off to the side. I really want to avoid sandwiching it between the Intercooler and Radiator if I can, because I think I still need all the airflow I can get here. After that, I'll get some nylon braided hose and AN fittings, block adapter plate, remote filter adapter and thermostat.
Cars seem to get about 3 - 4 laps in before needed a cool down lap or two. I might even get a small fan for my oil cooler.... it gets hot as the devil's @55h0l3 out here.
hey mankin, i think this is the second time i have seen you wear a mariners jersey. do you have any ties to seattle or just a fan of baseball in gerneral? i love this raw style/grass roots drifting.. imo drifting is the only sport were ppl always help out others.
Seattle has been my team since I was a young baseball player. I was a left handed outfielder, the same as Griffey Jr. then when he left, I latched on to Ichiro. This is an Ichiro jersey.
What engine is in ueo’s s15? Sounds like a v6 of some sort.
Bingo. V38DETT according to the FD Japan driver profile. I've never asked him to pop the hood, because he's always busy practicing for the next event. I need to do a solo video on this car.
