Wildcat front seat on-ride HD POV @60fps Jolly Roger Amusement Park

  • This is probably the second most ridden Schwarzkopf Wildcat coaster of all time. It originally opened at Cedar Point in 1978 after spending years on the German fair circuit. It was then relocated to Valleyfair in Minnesota in 1979 before moving to Jolly Roger's in 1999.
    The only Wildcat coaster that has likely seen more riders is the one at Cedar Point that replaced this one in 1979 and operated at the park until 2011.
    The Jolly Roger Amusement Park is located in Ocean City, Maryland.
    This is the exact same video as the Wildcat 3D front seat on-ride POV video we posted for those that cannot view the 3D version on their phone or tablet. Here's the link to the 3D video we posted: • Wildcat 3D front seat ...

    During our high school senior class party at Valleyfair in 1988 we rode this coaster over and over again. It was one of the best rides there - short line for quick repeat rides, and fun how it just throws you around.

    I love the Wildcat at the Puyallup Fair in Washington. It's a surprisingly smooth ride. The last helix is the only thing that gets rough, and it was either that or a really hard brake run. They really did't have a choice. All hail Schwarzkopf!

    I really miss this at Valleyfair. I rode it so much as a kid. They replaced it with a really awful "mad mouse" which is terrible.

    This is so much fun! I go on this ride everytime I go on vacation to Ocean city. I always stay at the Hilton. At 0:48 that big building is usually the hotel i stay at. And so I'm pretty close to it!

    I think this was the first coaster I ever rode to my memory. I was terrified. I ended up riding it again lol. I was very little, and the last I went the swings basically collapsed on itself or something and a kid got hurt and we never went back

    The description of this is untrue. This Wildcat was relocated here from Bell's Amusement Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

    • @coasterforce
      @coasterforce  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The description is correct. The Wildcat from Bell's that was relocated here was called Avalanche and operated from 2008-2014. This one replaced Avalanche in 2015.

    • @JRStephens5005
      @JRStephens5005 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CoasterForce It moved in 1999 from Bell's to Jolly Roger. I know, because I was working at Bell's when it was dismantled and taken to Maryland.

    • @JRStephens5005
      @JRStephens5005 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CoasterForce On April 20, 1997, mechanical failures on the Wildcat roller coaster caused a car near the top of a chain hill to disengage and roll backwards, colliding with another car. The accident killed a fourteen-year-old and injured six others.[20]The Wildcat was disassembled following the accident and was afterward relocated to Jolly Roger Amusement Park in Ocean City, Maryland, where it operated for a year under the name "Avalanche."[

    • @coasterforce
      @coasterforce  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      As we and you stated, the one that was at Bell's and relocated to Maryland was called Avalanche. At the end of the 2014 season Jolly Roger torn down Avalanche and built this Wildcat in its place. Avalanche and this Wildcat are not the same coaster, so Wildcat that was at Bell's is not the same coaster as this one either. Understand?

      @ma9c 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paul Metzger This is strange, but the wild cat that used to be at my home park in Mexico, suffered from exactly the same accident as you describe in the mid 1990s. The car disengaged from the Chainlift and the 4 passengers died. That wildcat used to be at magic mountain before relocating to Mexico. It continued to operate for years and was replaced last year with a skyrocket II from premier , Zombie Ride.

    This is a fun coaster, I just wish that Jolly Rogers and OC would build a really dynamic amusement park that rivals the one in OC NJ. The rides at OC MD look so old and are very jarring to the bones. More and better rides would make OC so much more appealing and fun for family and visitors.

    • @mdteletom1288
      @mdteletom1288 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And now they're buying up the old rides from NJ as they get replaced, like the Flitzer from Point Pleasant Beach which has been renamed the Barracuda.

    There was a kid killed on this same coaster in 1997 when it was at Bell's Amusement Park in Tulsa, OK. They dismantled it and sold it to Jolly Roger soon after the accident. It was first called Avalanche when they set it up, but call it it's original name.
