Yes! I will admit I was a little disappointed by my surprise songs, but I had a moment of "oh too bad" and then had an amazing time with the songs she did play. I think half of my disappointment was that she said Midnights, and I had been hoping for Maroon, so I got my hopes too high lol
Not necessarily unpopular but an opinion to share - The "biggest fans" are not the ones who worship the ground Taylor walks on. The TRUE FANS are honest and aren't afraid to (constructively) criticize or disagree. And the true fans are absolutely NOT waiting outside her recording studio hoping to get a clip of her walking by for Tik Tok 🙄

Yesss. I think it's important. We all have people we stan and they are talented and amazing but still human. Were all going to make mistakes or do something dumb. The reason why I thought of Taylor when listening to the song for the first time is because she mentions “how’s the castle built off ppl you pretend to care about” in the beginning. As the song continued I changed that opinion tho!

Evermore is one of my nearest and dearest. I had Alexa wake me up to evermore on the morning of my endometriosis surgery and I sobbed like a baby when I saw the live version where she sang the Bon Iver part. I squeaky-hiccup-sobbed like a baby, that song means the world to me

Unpopular opinion(?): I love that Taylor is singing her radio hits. As an og RED fan who never got to attend any of her concerts before the ERAS, I had so much fun singing those songs with her. This is silly, but singing WANEGBT, the song that introduced me to Taylor, live was so cathartic. (Though I do agree IBYTAM and Getaway Car would've been fun additions to the setlist)

I feel like doing most of the radio hits is also a necessity. People who aren't familiar with Taylor's deep cuts (those who got dragged into attending like a spouse or parent or casual fans) will need the singles to make it a fun experience. I realize the bigger picture why she always introduces herself with "Hi, I'm Taylor." Can't assume everyone automatically knows who you are especially with algorithms these days.
I agree. I’ve listened to and watched Taylor’s music videos since the Red era but I became a swiftie just last year. Those three songs (plus the chorus of Red) were the only songs I knew from the album before Red TV came out and I’m so excited about getting to hear and dance to them next year when she’s coming to Europe
I agree !!!! Shake it off was maybe my favourite song of the night, EVERYONE in that stadium was moving and grooving and it was sooo much fun, like the most magical experience and I’m so happy she’s played it

As someone who lives in a country that Taylor is visiting for the first time EVER she could do whatever she wanted on that stage and i would feel grateful. I didnt know people where taking the syrprise songs so seriously.

i feel we underestimate how much effort it takes to re-record an album. she isn't just adding new vocals on her past backing track. remember taylor is reproducing EVERY SINGLE SOUND you hear in the track from the vocal harmonies in the background to the faint guitar strumming. the amount of live instruments used in the og albums have to be replicated with the right sound, rhythm, and tone. don't even get started on the pressures to make your voice sound like the og. its especially more difficult when the og producers of the album aren't working on the new ones and replaced with new ones who have different styles of music (ex. red tv vs og red's producers).
i just appreciate how much drive taylor puts into owning her own masters despite all of these challenging aspects. i feel so grateful whenever she releases what she worked so hard on for us fans

Exactly, I've only been a fan since Lover era but I can tell you that it was definitely not as toxic then as it is now. It makes me kind of sad that I wasn't a swiftie during those earlier eras because it honestly seems like kind of a better experience than being a swiftie now.

i had seen absolutely none of the leaked photos before watching the i can see you music video, and when taylor lautner dropped in i literally gasped and covered my mouth in shock. i had to pause the video and process for several minutes LOL the taylors were so iconic for that

Watching this video after just being at the LA night 1 show! She sang I Can See You and Maroon and for a split second at the start of Maroon I felt like aw man she's already sung this one! But then to myself I was like "girl, come on. How many hours have you listened to and sung along to this masterpiece and how stunning does Taylor sound singing this, and how lucky are you to be here?!!!" Also I never imagined I'd hear I Can See You sung acoustic so that was so special. I was sitting next to a 16 year old girl at the concert in her Speak Now outfit and she was so ecstatic and it felt like I was signing alongside my 16 year old self at the Fearless tour back in the day. A really out of body, magical experience!

It's crazy to me that the Era's Tour wouldn't even EXIST if it wasn't for Covid. That's just wild to think about. What would she have done instead? We knew Lover Fest was going to be a thing but after that what even would have happened with Taylor's career? The whole reason she made Folklore and Evermore was because of the pandemic. Would these albums have ceased to exist otherwise? I can't even comprehend.
Also my main unpopular opinion is that we need to stop vilifying Taylor's ex's as if they are our ex's. The hate these men get is wild and borderline harassment and bullying. We don't know these people, we only know Taylor's perspective of them. How Jake and John treated Taylor was bad but also I do enjoy Jake's movies and some of John's songs. Being a Swiftie shouldn't mean that I have to exclude their work out of a parasocial loyalty for Taylor.

Honestly, her eras setlist has a lot of the pop anthems and most popular tracks, especially from Red and 1989 because that's what people know. Some people don't really know all of the hidden gems in the albums (although her best songs are normally the ones hidden) and i think she wants to give an experience for people who have never went to her concerts before.
my unpopular opinion is that Taylor doesn't have underrated songs and albums that need "justice for..."

Also about her shows: for the love of God, PLEASE go easier on the strobe lights or nix them altogether. I'm super sensitive to flashing lights and can't go to any of her shows because of that. Being able to see the stadium lights from space is a bad thing imo.
@@annaphallactici know that it must suck to not be able to see the concert but strobes are very much a concert standard, not just Taylor’s. I could understand maybe toning down the strobes as there are a few who are light sensitive, however i don’t think it would be fair to hinder the experience for the many to accommodate the few. thats just my take but i am sorry that you cant go :(

@@JosiahRobert14 Mariah wrote an album around 1995-96 called Someone's Ugly Daughter (and it actually got released, but she gave it to a different singer) - according to Mariah's memoir, there's a version of it with her vocals on it, but no sign of its release yet
Witnessing Taylor Lautner in real time without spoilers was surreal! I felt 13 again, I literally screamed and had to pause the video and call several people to let them know. I remember just smiling like a complete idiot and almost having tears in my eyes. I can't even describe it, pure nostalgia ❤

My weird opinion (I doubt it's straight up unpopular) is that even though Rep is far from my top album, I almost never listen to it because it's not really my brand of TS song, but what she currently has on the Eras setlist from it is PERFECT live! The energy is so fun!!
I think the best surprise song duo was ivy and Call It What You Want. ivy is my favorite Taylor song and song in general so I was so happy for the people who got to see it live!

The Eras tour has made me want to pull away from the online fandom. The way people are acting about what surprise songs are played, walking out of the show if they don’t like the one played, the way people are attacking others about buying international tickets…. It doesn’t feel like we are all enjoying this tour together anymore. It seems to have brought out all the ugly of the fandom. 😢
This! I have stage 4 cancer. All I wanted was tickets to Nashville no matter where we sat so I could have this experience with my 8 year old daughter. I wanted that memory for her just in case things go bad for me. To see people throwing tantrums over surprise songs just absolutely burns me up. Be happy you were there.

The "they lost" when not happy with surprise songs sounds so entitled to me... okay might not be your favourite songs but you get to see her for 3hours and a half, you got lucky to get tickets, you spent a loooot of money on them, a song is always amazing live because of the energy surrounding the stadium and lastly it's two songs out of 44. It's pretty sad to dismiss an entire show for 2 songs you dont't enjoy

My unpopular opinion is that electric touch could've been sooooo much better if taylor had let fall out boy loose on the guitar solo. The way the song is now it would've been better to say feat. Patrick stump rather than feat fall out boy.
I agree! Electric Touch is SO CLOSE to being a slay but it's missing something - it just doesn't go hard enough to warrant a FOB feature. Sonically it's giving Superman when it needs to give The Story of Us or Better Than Revenge
I personally thought the song was okay but since you’re not having them be them why are they here? As someone that loves paramore and Hayley’s voice as well as fallout boy I was just underwhelmed with both of their features. I’d been excited reading them both on the track list but it was just both of them there to sing a few lines from a Taylor swift song not really letting them make it a true collaboration and maybe that’s what taylor wanted but I think it would have been more interesting to have both of them merge more of their own styles in to the songs they featured on.
I don’t think I’ll actively seek out playing those songs like I do others. If they come round in a playlist or I play through the album I’ll listen but other songs I’ll hunt through my ridiculously long playlists or open up the Spotify album to start on that track and I don’t think I’ll ever do that for those tracks which is a shame considering my love for the artists involved.

As someone who went to Atlanta n3 in April, I’m a little sad I didn’t get too hear long live, but I genuinely had the best night of my life regardless and I’m very happy for the people who get too hear it 😊

fr i feel like it’s so toxic the way that some people think you have to adore every single song to be considered a fan. especially with taylor swift. she has so many completely different songs that if anything it’s unnatural to like all of them.
Unpopular opinion: this tour should’ve been called “The Midnights Tour” and heavily featured songs from Lover, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights (with a few older faves sprinkled in).
Then, after ALL the re-recorded albums have come out, the next tour could be “The Eras Tour”
But curious to see what everyone else thinks!

I think it's because she will be releasing all the re-recordings during the course of this tour so a "Midnights Tour" wouldn't make much sense if she did what she did during the Kansas City show (Speak Now TV). Knowing just how long the schedule is now, I can definitely see her capping off reputation or debut by the time she gets to Toronto.
Except Midnights was really a lot of "from the vault" style material itself. Songs from midnights throughout her career. To me it almost seemed like a concept album just to help promote the Eras tour (though a very strong one admittedly) I feel like between midnights, the final TV on the way and the Era's tour she is wrapping up all the loose ends. Sadly At the time, I suspected it was because she was planning a break for a wedding or baby after the tour. But now knowing she had You're Losing Me ready to drop, maybe she's planning a big artistic change of direction or some other big project that she wants cleanly separated into the next half of her career.

I witnessed Taylor Laurent dropping from the ceiling without any spoilers! I’m a somewhat new swiftie but I do know a lot about her songs history and stuff, but I did see a comment that was like “it’s so grate to see joe, Presley and Taylor support her now!” And I was a little confused but didn’t think much of it. But OMG when I tell you my jaw DROPPED TO THE BASEMENT when I saw him!!! I was really happy to see him and his little fighting scene💜
with surprise songs i cant believe some people left their concerts not feeling even a little more connected to the song they heard? i didn’t necessarily love i think he knows going into my concert and now when i hear it im like aw that’s me and Taylor’s song 🫶 they just feel so much more magical after hearing them live

My very unpopular opinion is that Olivia shouldn't have had to give Taylor so much money/such a big percentage of the profits for that one song that was similar (can't remember which one haha). You can still tell Olivia is a Swiftie and continues to be amazed and inspired by Taylor just by reading through the lyrics for Vampire. I was at KCN1, and the reaction of the crowd when Taylor L dropped into frame in the video was indescribable.
Also I wore tennis shoes, took Advil before the show, and most of the crowd sat during each era transition. You do you!
HI ALLY! I was at KC N1. I was seated lower bowl on the side of the stage where the VIPs come out, and my sisters and I saw taylor and tay lautner walk out (so we immediately thought we would get Back To December for our Piano Song) (I immediately screamed where the hell have you been loca, ofc). Two of the bracelets I made for the tour were "fighting dragons with you" and "I Can See You" (bc I claimed it as my fav surprsie song): so I was freaking out the whole time. The ear defeaning screams when that gorgeous tanned acrobat came down from the sky was insane. I just remember yelling, a lot, and saying omg. Then WHEN HE FLIPPED!!!!!! Best moment I have witnessed. Then he complimented mother, like crying so sweet. Still wish we got Back to december though :( but the show was the best day of my life - sorry if this is too in depth but im treating this like a diary entry ig

I stopped listening after red. at the time, I was in my emo era and 1989 was way too bubblegum poppy to me. but I came back around evermore and have the same love for her as I did prior to leaving the fandom. the gatekeeping and fan shaming isn't a good look.

I don't have many Swifties in my life, so I absolutely fell in love when paired with your accent & beautiful smile. I have chronic pain and it means so much to me that you shared. I am going to attempt to get tickets for the recently added concert dates when they go on sale, & the length of her show is daunting. It usually takes me a week or two to recover from big events like that.
We definitely need to stamp out the shaming of people sitting down in the Swiftie community. It’s a 3 hour concert!! I’m disabled and will need to sit frequently, but you don’t need to be disabled to just want to sit down. 😅

We need to stop judging people in general. You can sit even if you don’t have a chronic illness. I think I may have plantar fasciitis, but as far as I know, I am perfectly healthy but I just can’t stand for long periods of time without my feet getting in serious pain. Chronic illness or not, you are free to enjoy the concert in the most comfortable way you see fit.
PREACH! And not even for illness for disability - just because we are seeing Taylor does not mean we should disregard our health. Like please drink water, eat and go potty when you need to.

I have no idea how I didn't see the leaked photos of the I Can See You MV but I did. When I saw him I literally screamed and had to collect myself before continuing the video. I never thought Taylor would do something like that but I love her for it and it was iconic
I feel like having a year in between the re-recordings has been really nice. I'm glad I have a few months to appreciate them and get to know the vault tracks before diving into the next one. And as someone who hasn't been able to get tickets to the tour at all yet, its been so strange seeing how upset people are by the surprise songs they're getting. I wish I could get any surprise song in person, so here's hoping I get a code for the Indy stop next week 😅
I'm so glad that you mentioned about being a big fan but not liking all of her songs. I started listening to Taylor Swift from her pop albums so I like Midnight, Rep, and Lover. I dont listen to Debute or Fearless or Red a lot just because its not my kind of songs but I still love Taylor and the songs she writes
yes! If you’ve ever seen those videos that are like “sing when you see your favorite taylor song” and all the comments are like “real swifties sung the entire time” not every song is my favorite, and that’s ok
My unpopular opinion is that people should stop spoiling the show (and all other concerts) for themselves by looking at the set list... there are so few surprises in life anymore, and it is the best feeling when you're trying to figure out the opening bars of a song and then realise it's one of your faves.
its kind of hard though. because you look at 1 or 2 videos either on outfits to wear at the eras tour or what to expect at the eras tour but then it becomes part of your algorithm and then when you are scrolling through shorts you get spoiled and by the time you know its a spoiler its too late
i learned the set list ahead of time but i avoided all other spoilers and it definitely made the experience more exciting for me

I really agree with you on the fearless cover. Fearless being one of my all-time favourite albums and truly a soundtrack to my life, I really don't feel like the cover fits the album and that kind of makes me sad. But I still love the re-recording and the picture is beautiful it just doesn't feel like fearless to me

As much as I love No Body No Crime and Haim, I’m actually happier that I got to see Tis the Damn Season, but I’m sad I missed Long Live. As someone who isn't able to go to the Eras tour, I'm just happy for everyone getting suprise songs. For example, l saw the champagne problems performance as a video on tiktok and started crying. I can't even imagine what ut must be like seeing those surprise songs live, and even seeing her live, it's one of my goals in life, that probably won't ever happen, but you'll never know what happens!
Unpopular opinion: If I could at this moment see the Eras Tour or any of her previous tours, I would choose 1989 world tour. (It's my absolute favorite album and growing up in Sweden I haven't had the chance to see Taylor live until now.) Would maybe kill to hear out of the woods live

There were a few times when Billie told everyone to sit down, and it was amazing because everyone did, and I could watch the show instead of looking at butts

And then to see her running with the painting of the Speak Now Tv cover. And how some of those photos got leaked and we thought it was for like Karma mv or something. The fact that she was running with the Speak Now Tv album cover in her hands in a public street was so risky and if anyone saw it the whole last 8 months could’ve been so different.

ok my theory on why she didn’t give speak now tv as much promo as red and fearless tv is because it is so personal to her, it has dear john and innocent on it and the media constantly did her wrong for both those situations, (she put wcs on the 3am version of midnights for a reason) i think she wants to keep this album more for the fans rather then promoting it so much like red tv and then go all out with rep / 1989 tv, i still think it could’ve had a little more attention since speak now is my favorite album but hey, btw thank you for making these videos you make me and many others feel safe enjoying the things we enjoy :)

GIRL I- saved that live evermore performance on my phone to watch daily (someone else’s vid, I wasn’t at the show). STUNNING. that said, I’ve always been an evermore stan!!! I have a tattoo for the song, not the album. Some of the lyrics just mean so much to me. But I mainly got it bc I love how the whole time she sings ‘I had a feeling so peculiar, that this pain would be forevermore’ but at the end changes it to ‘pain WOULDN’T be forevermore’… it’s my own little this too shall pass 💞
