This movie is ok but some of it just doesn't make sense. I get that the sister is deformed but how does she have these super human powers like crawling on walls, has the strength to lift humans with ease and make them explode but can't punch a hole through the wall
I felt this way too. They could've chilled out on her "powers" a bit if they were truly going to make her his sister. I think a scene being added to call back to her being spotted by the neighbor girl and the events going towards the cover up and putting her in the room would've made it better. The bully seeking revenge was a little over the top too. I feel like after the big twist, things got a little silly (not terrible, but silly).
What about the poor decisions made by the teacher? That stupid side story with the bully and his gang coming for revenge.. god this movie was dumb.
I needed a lot more explanation about the parents and the girl. But mood and atmosphere was good. I felt unsatisfied with the ending and some of the decisions from the teacher was dumb

Finally someone with a brain in this comment section lol I also thought the teacher made some stupid decisions.. you visit this weird family.. they dont show you how their kid is after a terrible incident. and then the kid calls you asking for help.. and she waited what.. like 2 days to check on the kid.. and of course.. dont bring any authorities or anything.. and that's just the beginning for me.. haha
A prequel would do great. Hollywood especially really creepy horror movies should use antony starr more. Having homelander as your father is terrifying

Released here in the UK today, so glad I got to see it at the theaters, I was on edge the entire film. Cobweb knows how to build tension and follow it through

I loved the atmosphere in this movie. The pumpkin patch in the backyard had me all excited for spooky season (although it’s always spooky season in my head 😊.) Yeah the climax wasn’t what I was thinking it would be, but it still was kind of fun. I’m a huge fan of psychological horror and I thought this was going in that direction…still worth the watch.

I couldn't get into this film. You tried comparing it to Talk to Me, but there is no comparison. One stuck to its guns (Talk to Me) and the other gave us a generic ending (Cobweb).
Saw the trailer, but since I am not a horror guy and too many blockbusters all coming out week after week, totally did not notice this release. Might check this out later.

I love horror and I appreciate your reviews, but I hated this movie! I thought it was terrible. I say it right after I watched Talk to me! So that is probably why because that movie was so good!
I agree, Cobweb was a bad film. Nothing about it was interesting and it was a chore to even get through it. "Talk to me" on the other hand was a pleasant surprise.
I shall watch this. I love spiders 🕷️. So much fun.

I really liked this movie. I didn’t know anything about it nor seen a trailer and what a surprise. I love the plot twists. Just when you think you know who the villains are….it takes a different turn. And the kid actor is really good. A pleasant surprise. It has the same feel to another movie I like The Hole In The Ground.
Aspects of this one reminded me of the ring, and Shrek, not in a good way.

I didn't watch this film but I did watch Gran Turismo and really enjoyed it.

Just finished watching it. Loved it. Start off Really slow but please Don't give up on this and if you stay patience, you will be rewarded from the 2nd act til the end. Not perfect by any means But a good little horror movie. And big shout out to the great french horror director 'Samuel Bodin' who did this movie & my favorite horror series 'Marianne' which was very creepy and Amazing as well.
Demeter is one of the best movies 2023, what a movie.
I thought it was ok. Used a lot of cliché horror tactics. I went into it hoping for more of a psychological suspense, but it felt more like a by-the-numbers modern horror film. But I seem to be in the minority here.

I would say some of the imagery especially the character being called "Peter" wearing an orange "charlie" like Hoodie in class were all nods to Hereditary. Also the soundtrack was very similar to Colin Stenton's long deep sax drones. However I have watched Hereditary around 15 times lol. I loved the film, beautiful to look at and didn't treat me like a dummy. I loved how terrifying the parents were they made you feel really unsure of their true motives and on edge the whole time. 8/10
Talk To Me is my fav horror so far for this year. This could change though.. 😏
They droped the movie that date, instead, they should just have droped the movie in the Garbage.

I honestly found this movie a little odd. It never made sense why they treated their kid that way. The acting other than anthony was a little sub par. The monster was goofy. It was a little annoying to watch with the way it played out and how not much really feeling realistic or making sense. Despite anthony was great and during the scary scenes they really were scary tbf. Cinematography was really good too. I honestly just found it a little meh. Idk may just be me
I guess it’s Evil dead rises by default. I only watched that and Scream 6, which I found very underwhelming. Talk to me opens here next week though and I’m hoping to enjoy it more
It unfortunately doesn’t make much sense in the end. Otherwise well made.

Hated this one so much. Some of the worst direction I’ve seen this year. The sound design at the end was good though.
OMG ! You were slightly critical of an A24 film. There are some A24 sicophants out there. You gotta be careful.
Really enjoyed this one. Some really great shots and fantastic use of silence. The last act definitely requires you to kind of turn off your brain to enjoy what happening and I didn't like that the end was basically a 30 second exposition that flys by. But nonetheless, good watch

Just finished this movie and I'm sorry.. this movie was lame as hell. Where do I even start?? It was more silly and dumb than actually scary.. terrible camerawork when it gets to the good parts..our typical shakey camera.. you never even get a good shot of the monster... the bully and his gang side story was so ridiculous.. the teacher in the movie was useless.. I like when the kid calls her for help.. she doesn't even bother to call the cops or call CPS 😄.. it takes to like 2 days for her stop by the house to see if the kid was ok when she knew the parents are legitimately crazy lol.. We get no real insight of why his sister turned out to be like that.. we get some cheesy outro of her .. that she's always gonna be watching and haunting him.. The movie was super cheesy and was executed poorly.
