  • the spike in the stand didn't hold for some reason. it was set and log dogs were in. but my "stable" side gave way. glad I was able to cast the axe away and avoid the spike. all in all, no injuries, and I throw a strap around the log dogs now and spend extra time making sure the stable side is set very well on the central spike.

Ive done it too mate, no worries! It wasnt in a cradle, but the unsupported end of the elevated log not only dropped (as expected), but rolled backwards too, which shot me forward.
Good job on the save! Nice chopping too👍👍

Thanks Kurt! And Oh it surprised the heck out of me haha usually that thing is pretty solid. But yeah, I'm taking extra time now and making sure the center spike is very well seated on the bigger logs now.. I threw a strap around it yesterday and that made me trust it a bit more again haha

    I've done that haha !
I was filming but forgot to flip the camera around so all I got was the audio of my tumble. Almost makes it funnier !!

Yeah? Haha iit definitely surprised me when I severed that bottom wood lol the axe had me worried, but my main thought was falling on the center spike or one of the log dogs on the side... I'm definitely taking extra time to make sure it's set deep now haha

Where did you get your chainmail socks?

MailleTec Industries Inc. I believe they are up in Canada. The socks themselves are solid. Just need to figure out a way you like to keep them up om your calf. I have shin guards I use, but can also use a hockey lace to keep it up on my leg.
