LUV Southern. Can't Beat the Jukebox b/c of their 3-D surround sound and the complexities of their melodies & dynamics. I would buy a tix to see SU. I would not pay or even go see JSU for free. What's the song at 28:00? Thx! My other prb w/JSU is that all their songs are 2-minutes long. SU always plays 3-4 minute songs AND leaves their 2-minute songs for Parade season. JSU doesn't give us an intro & ending to songs as SU DOES.

I am not a JSU fan at all but at minimum they tied with SU that year. I can’t say they caught the L on this one.

Interesting! I came to see your reaction to this year's Crankfest, this battle was more about putting Talladega in their place and less about SU vs. JSU. BUT, when you broke down to these two bands I knew folk would get upset about your opinion. As a fan of both bands, I felt like they understood the assignment and made it happen. A win for the culture.

@@MrDajohnson2012 I think your confused SU doesn’t need just one section to carry there arrangements they are versatile there’s countless songs that are carried for JSU by there Tuba section. They have no upper brass at all.
i feel jsu having baritone is more balances and baritones have better tone quality, euphos are louder and less balanced... especially for high brass and woodwinds
JSU has a great sound. I love me so SU cause they still turned this joint out. But great battle both bands just outstanding. That Dog team just steps all on SU tubas.

That mellophone was listening to the acoustic reverb of the band surprisingly he did it at a performance usually section leaders do it to find musical obstructions or sound clarity you can't hear without muffled ears, cause if you listening that hard you not playing intensely. Jsu sounds good su sound like they lips was already tired but still sounds really good but jsu with the fresh lips. I like jsu in this one
I give JSU this crankfest that year! They came with it! But at the game SU TOOK IT! It’s kinda hard to hear each section for JSU tho. Cranking wise JSU got it
This was an interesting battle. I really don't see a winner but the fans. One thing was true about reading the comments this was between those two bands.
Last thing one day jsu you will get euphonium that will change the sound and put JSU on another level that will cause some heads to turn and rethink their position.
What makes you think JSU needs euphos?
well if your going to compare apple to Apple then have the same type of fruit.
Pound for pound they have the best section around. If they are getting that sound with baritone horns they would be over powering with euphoniums. Simple put they want be able to over blow the horn.
The sound would be more darker. I know what will happen the sound of the band would change. To keep the sound the arranger would have to be meticulous about how and where they use the instrument. Otherwise you get that sound everyone is doing. If they keep the baritone buy some good one. Not the blessing horn they had when i was in the band. Thars all i am saying. The pkayer are over blowing the instrument
@@williamwhite7037 Ok I get what you mean now, but if JSU is already murking eupho sections with btones alone, and the sound only compliments the band, instead of overpowering, why should they switch? I think the fact they can produce this much without euphoniums show insane ability. No need to switch to euphos and have to make more changes than necessary if you ask me

That Sade vs Tevin Cambell was not easy. This dude be giving bad takes sometimes. I say it was a tie and here’s why. “Can we talk” is a super classic in the black community. We can’t give the likability of this song to SU. It’s like people are gonna pick that one because of the fact it’s “that song”. We only suppose to be judging how they played the song verses how JSU played “Ordinary love”. I get it, that’s hard hard to do. But they both execute both song equally well. That’s a tie. The only way people won’t pick SU is if they just absolutely mess the song up. But because of what song it is, it gets an extra biased boost.
