Yes the focus clearly needs to be on attracting the skilled, not the unskilled. How many Uber drivers and $2 shops do we actually need?! NZ is starting to become one big 'Retirement Village' for elderly immigrants who add little direct value and place a huge demand on services e.g. Health. The Govt is resetting Immigration targets and criteria but to what?

Exactly. Definitely a matter of quality over quantity. Further, the mass immigration that we are seeing is not in the best interest of actual Kiwis. You can't buy a house, you can't go to the doctor, but you can eat all the curry and fried rice that you want, they're on every corner.

We don't have the infrastructure for mass growth. Why cant we be more selective and only selected the skilled? We dont need more people working 14 hour days in a liquor store...

We desperately need more unskilled labour for traffic mismanagement
Creating walls of cones in a 30kph zone where previously one meter long stripes of paint 3-5 meters apart was sufficient to safely keep opposing traffic in there lanes
And we desperately need more stop 🛑 go operators because in 1996 on demand traffic lights were invented with infra red sensors but the roading contractors have yet to become awere of there existance
There should be a $50 fine put on contractors for each and every cone they use that is reasonably seamed surplus to requirements

There is nothing wrong with skilled or unskilled immigrants coming to NZ. But there is something wrong with immigrants who don't want to embrace NZ's culture and lifestyle.

don't forget immigrants make it harder for kiwis to find a house to live in

Our immigration is out of control. Can't believe when we have housing affordability and supply issues that we think it's great to just keep bringing more in. I would love to see infrastructure catch up first.

Seems like there are too many vested interests in the property and construction sector. It seems like there is pressure on the government to keep the immigration floodgates open so that demand does not tank. They don't care that it is not in the average Kiwi's best interest though.

People who should be allowed are the ones who actually want to work

Perhaps you could ask Winston Peters why he signed the UN Compact for Migration (open borders) on behalf of Ardern, considering he spent years going on and on about migrants.

Was obliged to keep us in the game with woke countries that buy our stuff and get a bit perplexed when we dont seem to be towing the line. Now you need to sit down shut up and think before you trot out needless commentary!

@@khoorirune4573 Well you have a point, however, stuffing the country with culturally incompatible govt dependant leaches who are from completely alien cultures will never work. Not wanted here, big time. Or haven't you noticed? By the way, did i mention your reply to 'secondchance6603, he was exercising the right to free speech. Now you need to sit the fk down stfu and be thankful your allowed to be here you ignorant little man.

We really need skilled people. Some business's are struggling to get good tradesmen. Having connections to engineering I here 1st hand the hopelessness of some of the people that turn up. Also hereing that some of the imported drivers are not the best of operators. When you stuff your country and economy you drive away good skilled people. Loosing those skilled people means they will not be passing on the good skills & techniques that have taken years to learn. Not to mention the medical profression etc ec. NZ can be a good place, it is going to be a tough battle back to the top. Our country has been badly damaged by incompetent governence. The whole world is suffering from rotten leadership. Prime example No 1 is America, Biden & Co extremely BAD. That relly has destabilised the world. TRUMP 2024

Question Mike how is UK, USA , France, Switzerland doing with immigration. Are all these immigrants are skilled?. 😂

  • @islandboy227
    @islandboy227 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

NZ Immigration laws are far too laid back. The benchmark for English language ability is low. The benchmark for skills is low. There is no pressure on immigrants to integrate, hence you have parallel economies and societies within NZ with groups like the Chinese and Indians. No houses for young Kiwis starting out. No medical care for Kiwis because the immigrants flood the health system - free healthcare should be reserved for citizens. Diversity is our strength? Give me a break! Small-scale, targeted immigration is good, what we are experiencing is full-on societal and cultural revolution. It's not in the best interests of Kiwis and we are doing a great injustice to our children by allowing this to continue.

What about the 57000 Kiwis that voted with their feet Mike-not exactly a ringing endorsement for the government.
