Suomi on tunnetusti tuhansien järvien maa ja järvien saarissa on merkittävät metsävarannot. Niiden hyödyntäminen on tärkeätä ja yleensä kyseiset savotat toteutetaan sulan veden aikaan proomukuljetusten avulla. Talven 2023-2024 pitkät pakkasjaksot mahdollistivat kantavan jäätien teon Pohjois-Savon ja Keski-Suomen rajalle Keitele järvelle.
Finland is known to be a country of thousands of lakes and the islands in the lakes have significant forest reserves. Use of those reserves is important and usually logs from the island are transported out by barge transport when the lakes aren't frozen. The long and cold periods in the winter of 2023-2024 made it possible to build an ice road on the border between North Savo and Central Finland to lake Keitele.
