I found out many years ago that Countess and are cousins on my father's side. My grandmother's brother, granddaughter, making her my second cousin (I think) lol. I reached out to her, but she never responded. My family is originally from N. Little Rock Arkansas, but I understood that her mother moved away and she was raised somewhere else and took on her mother's husband last name, which she acknowledges as her father. Despite the fact that she never returned my message, I am very proud of her and wish her well in life. perhaps one day we will meet in person.

I don't like stupid characters and her character ( while very bubbly and upbeat) was just too stupid for my liking. Hakeem was stupid as well. Some of their lines made them appear mentally challenged in my opinion. This got worse when Kim moved onto the parkers she really became an idiot. I never understood why stupidity was funny.

This is going to sound crazy but I remember when she was about 5 or 6 years old and she came to my church when I was a little girl and she song. she had a voice on her! We actually had a picture of her singing at our church because her father(whom she looks very much like) a minister and he came from the same place that our pastor came from. I'm actually from a small town in Texas outside of her small town which is Idabel Oklahoma. We was so excited to see her on Star Search! She's an amazing actor and an amazing singer. She's so talented!

My twin brother and I were friends with Countess as kids back in elementary school (Valley View Elementary School, Hollywood CA). The 227show days in the 80s. She was very talented and a sweetheart.

I have thyroid as well. She has hypo and I have hyper. Hyper thyroid will make you loose weight if you don't take your meds what she has will make her gain weight.
I have hypothyroid disease. I have no thyroid.we gain weight because when we eat too much and of the wrong things. Our body hormones dont regulate as well. It is harder for us to get the weight off because of the hormones or lack thereof. That is the truth...the trick is to not overeat or eat the right things to begin with. We know we are hypothyroid so we should eat in moderation

Countess Vaughn was Brandy before Brandy was even Brandy. She won _Star Search_ at 10, beating Tressa Thomas (Duck's little sister from _The Five Heartbeats_ movie), was casted in _227_ for the fourth season (although she left because one of the main cast members made crude remarks about her weight), then dropped her first album at 14 with Virgin Records, while appearing on shows such as _Roc_ and _Thea_ (where she become future castmates with both Yvette Wilson and Brandy on _Moesha_ and later _The Parkers_ in the coming years) until landing _Moesha_ as Kim. Brandy was red hot with just _one_ album by the time _Moesha_ debuted, but Countess quickly became the scene stealer on the show. This is what caused tension amongst her and Brandy. And it led to her leaving _Moesha_ for _The Parkers_ (with Mo'Nique) shortly after the fourth season wrapped. Once season 4 wrapped on _Moesha_ the show wasn't the same. The essence and magic was gone as the show reached it's peak. Countess went through a lot after _Parkers_ from hair loss (wearing wigs as a result) to her once soulful singing voice (now affected by the thyroid). And she was my favorite on both shows. And she _still_ is.

The reason she couldn’t continue singing is because she had issues with her thyroid swelling which eventually affected her vocal cords as well and that’s the reason she didn’t want to sing because she would sound hoarse and she wanted to be like it was before all of her thyroid issues.

I never thought of this until now, but your soul is your mind, will and emotions. If you sign a contract to a company and they're now controlling these aspects of you as a person, then it seems very possible. To the point about her bleaching her skin, I was watching old episodes of 'Hanging With Mr Cooper' and difference in her complexion was startling. It also wasn't an issue of resolution. I knew it was her because of her voice and mannerisms, but she was noticeably much darker than on Moesha a few years later.
