I cannot believe the penhold grip was revived in France. Hope he could be the future No 1
Certainly does not seem to have hurt his game playing that style - how far can he go. !
I can sort of relate to the penhold forehand but the reverse-penhold backhand...
Félix Lebrun had a French Chinese player in the same club, he tried to inspire himself from this guy, and ended with a penhold style, which is clearly rare in France.
Felix's forehand was a big weakness, now looks very smooth and clean. Incredible improvement. Dima was on fire and still lost. This kid is special. Counters absolutely everything. Madness tt!
He wasn't at his best in the final. In my opinion, the matches against Hugo and Kallberg were more impressive. However, the fact that Félix still managed to take the game proves his strong mentality. What a amazing kid! Hope he can continue playing at this level in Frankfurt.
@@minukesis Dima was on fire and he still won the match. I think this is more impressive than his previous matches as he was under more pressure and still managed to come out on top.
zaza ?
Very impressive performance from Felix once again! Very mature technically and mentally at 17!
Beating a legend like Dima Ovtcharov in a final like this!
Congratulations!🎉🇫🇷
Dima nearly managed to come back, but it came the youngsters way this time!
It's a pity for him, normally he can win mentally, but next time...
Bravo Dima too! Good play.
Editing is better now, thank you
Now i can enjoy European TT ... With finals like these, uhhhmm.❤
When a 17 year old teenager comes back after 2:9 against the 35 year old world number 9 😮
When you are leading by a lot, you can easily get carried away. The match is not over until it is. Even Demar who is playing at the highest level, got caught.
Yes it's the key of this match
that's actually more Dima's failure
Indeed 😮
Felix Lebrun is my idol
Felix will be the next non-asian world number 1! Big ups from Germany!
Unless he becomes the world no 1 (all continents included) and win something huge like the Olympics gold, tt would remain completely neglected and mistreated by the media throughout europe.
Hope he can and save a dying (dead) sport in europe for millions of forgotten European tt fans
Anyway, Felix is the best penholder now no doubt.
@@peterwind8101 millions?
Felix has potential but he has to control his emotions.
@@Stuartski ahahah yes i guess now we can say he has "potential" 🤣
Both Amazing. Very close game. Fantastic play, worthy of the finals.
Bravo. Top mental game from Felix
That was close! Felix is so clutch for his young age
Great feat at such young age, moreover, Felix has very good body balance, his sideways movement seems so quick.
Congratulations 🎉👏 Felix on your win loved your blocking
Go go go !!!
Quel mental!
Sadly, this won’t receive any news coverage in any major media..
Europe’s been waiting for someone like Felix. In the 80s 90s. TT was still broadcast on TV and there was news coverage. In the last 20 years, there was zero coverage of tt on any major platform in europe. Looking through the media, it’s like the sport is extinct.
Tt fans are a completely neglected abandoned group in europe for 20 years. Hopefully, he can win something big and help raise tt’s profile in europe just a little bit..
theres tennis channels and pages set aside in the newspaper for those lesser skilled Ruud, Humbert and Tsitsapis but nothing, not a tweet for Lebrun
@@marriedkiwi TT related news completely disappeared from European media after China started completely dominating it.
That was a great victory, yes, but I think his victory against Calderano in the 1/4 (ranked number 4) is even more revealing of his talent and progression.
In this match it wasnt the best Felix for sure, but it highlights that he has also the mental toughness of a champ !
No, this victory was more impressive. Calderano is number 5 and also a fake number 5.
@@Independent_Man3 "fake number 5"? Are you suggesting that Calderano had "fake victories" to get the points for his ranking? The WTT rank is based on competitions that occur all year long, not JUST ONE event like WTTC or OG. 😆
Yes, but Calderano is nowhere near No. 5 by skill level. In most WTT tournaments, he loses in round 1. Felix is much more consistent and also stronger in every other way. The final against Dima is a way better indicator of Felix's strenght.
@@ToDDHeaDD Explain to me how can you get enough points to be number 5 and lose in round 1 at the same time?
We are lucky in France with the two LEBRUN brothers.Beautiful hours to come for French Table tennis. Coucou from France!!
Thank you all for your FairPlay. Coucou from France !!
they are like the popov brothers in badminton
Just the number 3 players suck all the time
Wow. What a match. So happy for Felix.
3:19 possibly the best counter attack I've ever seen.
😅you gotta watch more TT
Wow! well done Felix -- never thought I would shout for a French!
Despite an impressive comeback from Ovtcharov Félix managed to win this very tense final. Congrats to him 🥳
First time I feel a little sad for DO
Congrats from Canada!
This is one in a million cases where talent beats hard work.
The game was out of this world!
European TT is back! Great Players in the Worlds top tier and thanks to Corona more people in Germany are starting to play aswell.
the lebruns really have to learn some sportsmanship
Dima started badly in the beginning ,but congratulations to felix🎉
& what relevance is that... ❓He lost...
Worst backhand I've seen from Felix. Best forehand I've seen from Felix.
Exactly! He usually has an excellent backhand and "only" good forehand (if we consider the level he currently has) but against Ovtcharov he showed an excellent forehand while he produced an unusual amount of mistakes with his backhand (despite some very good shots per usual of course). Felix Lebrun mostly showcased and extraordinary mental toughness. Congrats to him he definitely deserved a WTT title.
@@sebastienguerrero6323 maybe it's due to the fact that Dima has an ultra strong backhand and a relative weaker forehand.
Jogaço!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Best angle IMO
Wow his style is exactly what is needed to counter both top Asian and European players.
Fu$&@ amazing!! Table tennis academics will write books about this kid “ The Felix legacy “
Just read about this kid in Le Monde and thought: yeah right, they're just talking him up....eh no....absolute quality.
I don't know, how Dimitrij want's to win when he played just right or left side... what about middle of the table? Where was short game on the table? Felix did perfect counter-attack game! Congrats, what can i say)
Felix would become an absolute Monster if Xu Xin becomes his personal coach
Nice camera angle!
Amazing reziliance by both of them
Dimi was feeding that weaker forehand and Felix won w/ that FH. Dimi just making him a better player. Thanks Dimi.
Well done Felix !
Congartulation!
Congratulations felix
Mark my words, he will be in top 4 in 1-2 year
That means he needs to be at least better than two absolutely A-class Chinese. Wow, no one has done it consistently in 20 years
@@peterwind8101 Have you ever seen a non chinese at age of 17 like him in 20 years? so....
Don’t cut off the comments pls
Felix is my bet for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Crucial third set 😢
Felix won the championship. The best penholder is in France now. It's amazing and ridiculous for China.
Dima getting older and stepping to quick back and defending
Genuinely what are the rules of service. The throw is not vertical or near too, contact is over the table. Have the rules changed
Just not enforced
@@ravanpee1325 we used to get called all the time late 80s
@@darrylmeredith2534 Many empires are not consistent in their rule enforcment or give famous players a pass..also many people do wrong serves on purpose, because there will probably no consequences anyway
Contact over the table is a deadly sin. Give an example of when it happened in this match.
how much money did he win?
Dima won against Ma Long ?
Angkat aku jadi muridmu suhu
Bro you are online
Where is the shakehand ?
what happened to the handshake, Id do that first after winning like that
👍👍👍
Première chose à faire c’est d’aller saluer l’adversaire après avoir gagné !!! Pffff
Affectueusement. On pourrait dire la même chose de Félix
the Frenchman was lucky. He is achoked
Dima lost too many counters from FH. Should have stopped trying. And of course that 9:2 come back played its role
9:2 2:38 then loose
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Dima should give a time wasting seminar.
Can someone of the french team maybe teach this boy some manners and tell him to shake hands after the match [before running to anyone else!], PLEASE 🤮
Because it s not recorded does not mean they did not shake hands...
He did, it just wasn't recorded in the highlights. He should have shaken hands with Ovtcharov before jumping in the arms of his coach but we can give him some slack after winning such a close match and first WTT title agaisnt the WR9. He just got carried away at first but eventually shook hands.
He's 17 give him a break. He spend all his life learning to play that godlike penhold backhand, he needs a year or two to shakehand :D
Il serre tjs pas la main.
give him a break, its his first men single championship win
Stöhnen ist woanders interessant.
Nice achievement by the young lad. Unfortunately, he is French.
What is that supposed to mean? 😂😂
It might not mean disrespect. It could mean that he unfortunately comes from a country that gives absolutely zero media coverage to table tennis. So, his incredible victory is not known by anyone who does not follow tt closely in his country, and even if he becomes a world champion or Olympics gold medalist someday, no media is gonna report about those incredible feats and he probably is not going to earn even one hundredth of an average footballer’s salary. And, this is the same all across Europe.
If a person with this tt talent is from China or Japan, he’d receive way more recognition and make so much more money.
Sadly, table tennis is a dying sport in europe. Some might say it’s dead already. Not because no one plays it. Millions of us play it and spent money on it. However, the media and the capital market in this continent have not showed even the slightest interest in tt for over 20 years.
Table tennis coaches needs to teach kids some manners after game. If not, this talent will go to waste %100 because of arrogance.
Ovcharka's serves are the most ugly posing and uneffecient actions
So many mistake from Ovtcharov otherwise he would've won, so many deuces and he lost all of it.
Some many mistakes from Félix otherwise he would have won more easily !
Not so smart comment.
Do you know what is sport is about ?
It is about mastering the skill and managing safe zone . Then putting pressure and managing pressure.
Obviously Dima made many error because there was big pressure from Félix.
And not enough safe zone for Dima.
This Victor is deserved for Félix and is not same chance encounter as proven by his performance un the last month.

Why do players run off to their coaches before shaking their opponents' hands? Just looks so disrespectful. I know it's commonplace, but not a good look.
Felix didn't won
In actual Dima just give it away
That 3rd set score 9-2
Maybe the younger was also a little bit tired. His demonstration against Calderano is more relevant
