  • A mother claims workers at the Greater Gulf State Fair did not properly strap her daughter to a ride. 9-year-old Isabella Carmichael got on the Mega Drop ride at the fair on Friday night. Video taken by a family member shows the 9-year-old girl as she starts to realize her seatbelt was not buckled.

    Some of you guys are overreacting. The seatbelt is a secondary restraint in case the locking mechanism in the restraint fails. Judging by the restraint in this video it was working properly and wouldn't even need the seatbelt on it, so the girl would've been fine.

I watched the interview with mother/daughter and both said they knew it wasn't buckled and were fearful. Mother said she saw the fear in her daughters face once she realized it was going and she hadn't been properly buckled.... but she chose to continue recording?
    I'd have dropped my phone, run and jumped that fencing, waving and screaming for them to stop the ride that my kid wasn't in secure!!! How the hell do you stand there and just record!?!?!?! I guess it would have been a HUUUGE payout especially getting it alllll on video! If I were her kid I'd be watching out!

      the way you attack the mother instead of the ride operator is so disturbing. even insinuating she'd rather her daughter dead for a payout. sick human you are. you can literally hear the mother screaming about it the second it starts going up, and the ride operator(although his fault for not checking) does the right thing and immediately goes to the mom to hear her concern and stops the ride and music. it all happened so fast.

    I actually just read the news article about this for anybody that doesn't know the full story that's why I looked up the video. So basically I guess the CEO or whoever it was I'm not sure who it was I forgot, basically was like pretty much trying to sit there and b******* and go well even though her buckle wasn't done everything else was fine even if the ride would have gone she would have been fine because her main latch was still working etc. He did say that I guess people are being retrained these rides apparently are inspected nine times before they are even brought on the property and it didn't say anything about anyone getting fired it said apparently instead they were just going to retrain everybody very well which I think is some horseshit because that guy walked around and didn't bother to check anybody's seat belts not even once he should definitely be fired not retrained if he can't even be guaranteed to check the seat belts he shouldn't be retrained he should just be fired. Anyways but he said luckily they noticed when it got to the safety zone and noticed something was off so they brought down the ride and just closed it for the night or something like that I don't really know the whole story but you can basically just look it up on google. I still think it's kind of b******* though because he was basically still trying to sit there and be like otherwise she would have been fine now that's b******* don't sit there and try to spew b******* like that considering all the s*** that's happened recently

    This isn't a big deal. She would've been totally fine even if the ride ran like that, the seatbelt is just a redundancy on an already secure restraint that uses either a ratchet system or hydraulic system to keep it locked in place. Once those things are locked in place you couldn't even begin to pry it up. The only reason this wouldn't have worked for her is if she was too large to safetly ride the ride.

    • @Flippityfloop44
      @Flippityfloop44 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sydneyrobinson6811 it's impossible for her to slip out. The belts are an aftermarket add on to the ride. Hers was securely in place around her entire torso. There is no way she could've fallen out. Not to mention, you're supposed to buckle those yourself then the ride ops check them. Yes they missed hers, but she could've buckled it easily. And again, it's a secondary restraint and that boy who died shouldn't have been allowed on the ride. He was 100lbs over the weight limit and over the height limit. The restraint did not pop open, he slipped out of the seat because he was too physically large for the seat.

    • @ivanamendez478
      @ivanamendez478 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually yes it would have, but once it started it did alert to the secondary safety measure(the seatbelt) not being active and that's why it stopped.
      I saw a news story with the park director talking about it. The overhead bar is the primary safety measure and without it being secured the ride would not have started at all, but it was secured so the ride started and went up. The ride then alerts the staff that the secondary measure was not engaged.
      Many rides like this don't have seatbelts, the reason that Tyre died was because he was too large for the overhead security device to fully click into place. His weight and size pulled him out of his seat when the ride dropped.
      Chances are this girl would have actually been fine even without the seatbelt because the overhead bar was secure and she fit into the seat correctly.
