I know this is an old video
You don't have to release pressure like that, just start the car, remove the fuel pump fuse and as soon as car stalls you are good to go.
There's no need for that mess

1:44 Dude! Pull the fuel pump relay and start the engine, or trip the inertia switch and start the engine. You doing it the hard way!

I look at the job I need to do and if the bolts are that rusty I will spray them a few times a day with PB Blaster for a few days if time is an option for that particular job. It has saved my bolts several times. I don't know your situation there but from what I saw, that fuel filter was no immediate threat. It didn't appear rotten or anything, unless I just didn't see it.

Thanks for the video. Could not see exactly how you relieved the fuel pressure to begin with up top. Also, is it possible to drain the fuel tank from the filter connection? I have a 95MY SC. Thanks again.

As you can see in the comments below, you can pull the fuel pump relay and start the engine, running it till it dies. That will dramatically reduce the fuel in the lines, though the filter will still have a little fuel.

It would have been nice to see an up-close view of what you were doing. Didn't see a whole lot except for a broken bolt and spilled gas.

mydejavooo1 yeah, I'm sure you've never broken a bolt or spilled gas.

What? That didn't even make sense. Of COURSE I have...that's why I wanted to see what he was doing. Think before you post.

mydejavooo1 you said "I didn't see much except a broken bolt and spilled gas" passive aggressive comments, think before you act like a girl

Tanner...are you like 10 years old? Passive aggressive....that's laughable...seriously. It was an observation. Quit crying like a little bitch. Or do you need a tissue? Don't need you having your period early over a car repair video, for fuck's sake. Geez. Take a Midol and chill out dude.

Why did you release the fuel rail pressure? I just replaced my filter without doing that. Seems to work ok hope I didn't screw some thing up. It was a 92 Tbird. Also after I took of the retaining pieces the lines came off easily. Should it have been harder?

I released the pressure to just make it less likely come squirting out under pressure when I took the filter off. I probably didn't need to do it since it took quite a bit of wiggling to get the filter off. That would have bleed off the pressure as well.

another question i have a ford 250 xl 86 aut when i try the fuel pump out is work but when i put in the place and conect dont work do you have a idea what happen?

    • @realmike8675309

Jean Febres Have you made sure that 12volts is getting to the connector on the pump? If so, then the pump can still be bad. When it is out it has no load against the pump. When it is in, it has a load it sucks against and if the pump motor has gotten weak, then the pump won't run with the load.

Wow did you do to unistall the filter whit your hand, or you use a specific tool?

    • @realmike8675309

Jean Febres The filter has two hoses on either end that slip over nipples on the filter. The hose ends are retained by some plastic clips. the clips have an edge on one end that I use a properly sized screwdriver to pry against the clip and slide it out.

We're is the fuel pressure located

Perhaps you mean fuel pressure release? You can release the pressure at the fuel rail through the bleed port. That doesn't drain the fuel line though so you will always get fuel coming out when you replace the filter.

Why did you not put some rubber gloves on >>>>>

Alfonso Archuleta Mostly because I'm stupid. I've been working with fuel systems and gasoline for 45 years and never have worn gloves. My body PH isn't one that is dramatically affected by gasoline, but certainly there are those that are. I should have pointed that out, and yes, folks should wear gloves when doing this type of work. Thanks for checking it out.
