I agree about the corrugate guide pant. I love mine. But I ordered a pair of the Prana’s because I just don’t like paying $150 for a pair of hunting pants. But I will probably get another pair of guide pants when I wear out the ones I have.

Kuiu attacks for me, close match is the SKRE pants. First lite Corrugate guide for a lighter weight pant. Kuiu chinook pant for colder weather. I'm in WW too hunt September through December.

The Eddie Guide Pro Accent series are so underrated. From their shorts to the unlined pants and the lined pants I practically live in them! They are gaining popularity and Eddie has increased price. But they will run sales around holidays and for rewards members!
Headed to CO in Oct. and I’ve been insisted on bringing a pair of SG Dehaviland’s. But I guarantee you the Eddie’s will make the trip as well! Great review!

For me: 1) Sitka Ascent (great stretch/movement) .... super light but durable. 2) Prana Zion (mostly for everyday use ) .... 3) Kuiu Attack/Sitka Mtn. I prefer Sitka Mtn, but like the solid colors of the Attack. Wear in weather below 40 degrees. Kuiu sizes are ridiculous, I agree. I"m 34 in everything. 38 in Kuiu. I have their tiburan and Kutana ... their stretch/movement in those is horrible. Feels like they're always binding in knees and pulling down.

I'm a minimalist. I mostly hunt upland birds in Levi's denim until last year when the dew was off the charts. By lunch my bottom half was soaked pant > sock > boot. I was pissed. Great for dogs on birds, not for cotton pants. Wrangler and Carhartt both make a great budget sand/tan cargo water resistant pant under $40 and they're super tough and strong. The other thing is I think a lot of these hunting companies are "figuring it out" because like you say, the sizes/shapes are weird. The knee pads (?) and other gimmicks seem really, truly odd to me. Can't think of one time hunting where I've desired knee pads. Maybe they're for a younger demographic coming in to the scene? I've never had any under armor products I thought were quality or value.

Google it. It’s a mobile way to hunt deer (amongst other things) from trees without a lot of gear. Knee pads help with the lean against the tree. I’m not sure that was their original intention though, but it works.

I’d like to add, if you’re looking for pants that meet all the criteria you were talking about above without a real steep price tag, look at the black ovis granite peak and cottonwood creek pants. Mid and light weight. Very comfortable, quiet, stretchy, great fit. Full price about 70-75, can find them on sale for 60 through the Camo fire daily sale deal. These things are the business. I've ran Attacks and every piece of First Lite. The First lite Corrugates are comfy but they do fit baggy even in smaller sizes and I have found the fabric started to pill after one season and that really bothered me. I HIGHLY RCCOMEND the Eddie Bauer first accent WORK PANTS. They have a little more fabric on the fronts and I wore them almost exclusively on aw 100 km horse back hunt in Northern BC without any issue at all. The EB's are generally half the price and I have found will do everything you ask them to. The only negative I have found is the work pants stitching around the front pockets will go but that is easily fixed by a seamstress for dollars. The roll up to nothing in your back if you're bringing a spare.
    I have 6 pairs.

I have the Kutana and Attack pants and they’re both phenomenal. But the attack pants would be way too warm for early season and if you run hot. The Kutanas are amazing but certainly geared towards warm weather. But you could layer under them based on your preference. As far as one pant, you might want to consider the first light Corrugate Guide pants. I love those pants and have used them duckhunting in the winter with thermals underneath and elk hunting in early September. They are also a great pant. Very comfortable and great pockets. It would be the perfect pant if they put side zips or hip vents on the pants.

Yea because he called them the wrong name. They are Eddie Bauer Guide Pro. "First ascent" is the little logo they put on some of their tougher gear.

@@PNWild Not surprising, honestly. People tend to overlook brands like Eddie Baur and L.L. Bean for "ultra light" marketing and proprietary camo patterns.
