- If your gas golf cart battery goes dead you may want to test the voltage regulator to see if it is charging your battery while running. In this video we show you how to test it. This test works on any gas model golf cart.

Hello, do I remove the positive or the negative 1st when taking the battery out for winter storage? It’s on a club car gas
@@johna5428 positive first.
Thanks was having the exact same problem changed out the regulator hopefully I don’t go through any more batteries
Thanks appreciate the tip
Got a 98, new solenoid, new voltage regulator, and a new club car starter, cleaned up all the fittings and the grounds still not getting a charge back to the battery.. battery is fairly old and I’m curious if it’ll show no charge or won’t take a charge?
A bad battery or cell could cause a no charge? But if you did this test its probably a bad regulator? especially if amazon parts?
Hey man I have a 95 ezgo 295cc and my cdi box keeps messing up, I replaced the old one with a new one and started right up, but now started acting like the old one again after just a couple days, sometimes they work sometimes just crank, so I replaced it with a new one and it worked again, but now started to do the same thing again, I cleaned all connections, and all ground cables, I don't know what causes this that is driving me crazy, sometimes I jump on it and start sometimes just crank ,it does this more often over night
So are you just losing spark when this happens? We see a lot of coil problems vs the CDI box on these. Feel free to call us to go over a few things with you. 276.632.8905
How can i tell if it's the regulator or the generator? I have an ezgo Marathon 2 cycle that the battery goes dead on while running it
You can check voltage from the regulator to the green wire on you're starter generator. Most cases on those is the regulator not working? If it's starting and going both forward and reverse in most cases that alone shows a good generator which is also your transmission on those carts. Let us know if we can help? 276.632.8905
I tested the voltage today. The longer I ran it the lower the voltage went. I unpluged the green wire on the regulator pluged a jumper wire to that post and shoted it to a ground. The voltage then went to about 13.5 volts and held there. Any idea what the problen is? Thanks for the help

if the voltage regulator is working, does that also mean that the starter generator is working?
The Voltage Regulator only works when the engine is running.
What did you have the meter set on
On our meter we set it on 20v using the DC scale side.
Location of regulator on 2008 Rxv
Follow your small wire from your starter toward the front of the cart and it will be hooked to your regulator. (They are usually a Green wire but?? May be different color)
Don't leave the lights on
Yes, don't do that either 😅
Why would my cart battery drop to 10 volts when cart is running and 12 .80 resting
@jimsloan2438 you're putting a load on it but, it should raise up with engine running, if your voltage regulator is working. They all will surface charge back to 12 while setting if it's a good battery.
