कॉम्बस्शन चैंबर में ईंधन के दहन से कार्बन उत्पन्न होता है इस कार्बन की कुछ मात्रा इंजन ऑयल में भी मिल जाती है,
इसके साथ ही वातावरण की गंदगी भी विभिन्न माध्यमों से इंजन में पहुंचती है और इंजन ऑयल में मिलती है जिस वजह से इंजन ऑयल काला पड़ जाता है.
