The Gorey Bus and the Weekly Shopping (Nov 2010)

Here’s anther 10 minute film from the family archives. It is footage of my grandmother (almost 99 at the time) coming back from her trip to town to do her weekly shopping - a ritual many older rural people would do weekly.
Very simple footage but powerful at the same time and it captures her getting off the bus unpacking the shopping and even offering me some ‘herns’ (herrings) - a fish synonymous with winter in this part of Wexford.
The clip moves onto her running her cats outside and then slowly walking down to our house with something she bought in town.
