Pixel watch 3 XL is a good name for the bigger model. It's better than calling it pro, plus, pro max, pro plus, max, ultra or Super, since it's none of those things and is barely different from the smaller one.

Regarding the "too small" 41mm size, the most copied watch in history, the Rolex Submariner, is 41mm.
I'm still using the PW1, the main selling points for me are the small size and the rounded design. It looks like a watch and not a fallout pipboy like the massive apple watches. Also XL is a good name in my opinion, unless the large watch does have a faster processor or more memory or some other feature that warrants naming it the super duper extra turbo ultra pro max.
I'm with you on "It looks like a watch and not a fallout pipboy". I also prefer this simple & elegant look vs the Galaxy Watch. The GW looks like a cheap digital watch from early 2000 to me.
IMO Google needs to keep their current charger & band. Wireless charging is so inefficient and nothing beats wired charging when it comes to maximum charging speed. If the PW3XL gives 48h or a full day while listening to music & using the watch a lot I'll likely buy it.

The XL in sapphire with 10 ATM water resistance would be a killer. I want to be able to dive into the water and not worry about water resistance due to flux and pressure. BTW 9to5, since you asked rectangular is a non starter for me. This is a great looking design that will benefit from narrower bezel.
I wish they just focused on battery life, and bezel size.
Or even better - make a googilfied amazefit type device -soc, awesome battery, minimal apps (1st party only), incredibly optimised. now THAT would be my dream device.
They literally are focusing on battery life in WearOS 5. It was mentioned in the video.

Been running Amazfit for years. Just bought a Pixel 8 pro and figured I should look at a pixel watch. As soon as I saw report of pixel 3 XL, new I'd be waiting. I prefer a larger watch face and would like to see increased battery life. My current watch runs about 2 weeks on one charge. Going down to 1 day seems like it would be frustrating.

While the round pixel watch looks ok , round is not really space efficient if you want more room inside the watch , like bigger batteries for example , not to mention having the extra screen realestate allows for more information on the display, and or bigger text for those of us with less good eyes.
Gemini in Pixel Watch 3 would work for me, as long as it can start all the workouts and stuff it can now.
Knowing Google and how it works on the phones it probably wouldn't. Gemini is a downgrade still.

The option for a Pixel Watch 3 XL is a huge plus for me. I'm looking forward to it.
Google Pixel watch 3 is said to reduce its bezel from 5.5 on pixel watch 2 and on Google Pixel watch 3 the bezel is 4.5 this still incredible thick when you compare it to Galaxy watch 6 and 7 which has smaller bezels than the Pixel watch 3 at 4.5 mm, as well as the 40mm watch having larger area for data. -- Google -- needs to understand that they should reduce the bezels even further to match Samsung Galaxy watch 6 and 7 and as well to match Apple watch 9!!
Increasing the size and hopefully the battery life are the main upgrades needed. Looks like we may get both.
That was a crazy transition matching face position and more 4:21 You could literally use a morph transition and that would look so cool.
The new size is great but still, those bezels got to go.
I'm actually pretty happy with the size of the PW2. Once you chuck a case on it for protection it ends up being a pretty decent size, for me at least. I will be keeping my PW2 though, it's a fantastic watch through and through.
I really hope the XL is actually XL and not just a bit bigger🤞🏽

I held on upgrading my PW1 to the PW2 because of the lack of a larger size. Hopefully this larger PW3 will have a thiner bezel even if it is ever so slightly.
I hope for better repairability in Pixel Watch 3. 1 and 2 are basically unrepairable.
The bezels on the last watch are ridiculous. In 2024 from a company like google they should be straight in with hardly any bezel. I like to change from android to iOS and back again so that I’m never tied in. I almost ordered the pixel 8 pro as the deal came with the watch. But there was no way I was changing my Apple watch to that pixel watch.
Weirdly I think the round shape is making up for how small the pixel watch is. I’ve been using a gen 1 pixel watch that I got dirt cheap alongside my ultra 2 but I haven’t had any issues with the pixel feeling small. But if the pixel was a square like the ultra, it probably will feel a lot smaller just like how the 40mm Apple Watch feels tiny to me.
I'm excited for the new 45mm face. And I very much love the round face design, I don't want it changed to a square one.

Good... I have the Pixel watch 2 as a free add-on that is still in the box. I am not a fan of a small watch screen. I will trade it in for the Pixel watch 3 XL. For now my go to smart watch is the Ticwatch Pro 5.
The only reason I haven't bought a Pixel Watch is because of its size. I've been waiting for a larger size. Finally, it looks like this will be the year!
I really want wireless charging. I simply won't buy products that don't use USBC or Wireless charging. Tired of all these proprietary charging ports
You are absolutely right, those proprietary cables are a real pain
As much as I hate proprietary cable, wireless charging is inefficient. It's slower & uses more power since it's wasting energy. And USB C is too big for a watch like this IMO. Also 99% of USB cables you get with a device are as fast or barely faster than the device. Charging speed & wattage is increased each year and it only takes a few generations before the cable becomes waste.
That scratched up display glass is horrible. They need to update the glass with Pixel Watch 3

as an og pixel watch owner, im not buying another on until google has a repair program for these for a REASONABLE price. considering there are no repair options so far. makes me afraid to even wear it.

The Pixel watches are all too small, even with a 45mm variant, the screen size is tiny. My tic watch is 50mm and it pretty much uses all the available real estate. I just can't understand the model here. A larger screen and battery are all people really want.

I don't see why the band wouldn't work on the bigger model. Maybe if you're at the limit of the band already but otherwise it should fit.

Honestly, I don't get the round shape of Android watches. I used the Apple watch for years, and the square shape feels perfect for a smartwatch. Now i am moving to the Pixel ecosystem, but the pebble style is making me hesitate
Style wise I much prefer a rounded, pebble shape. I'm pretty sure the pixel watch is the most comfortable between it, Samsung & Apple. IMO the only downside of a rounded smart watch is if you want to read big text like an email. At best I read the one time password on my email or glance at the title.

Depends on your needs. I think it's fair to assume we will have an XL version but nothing else is confirmed.
Google needs to go to the squared design like the apple watches. I got the watch as a first gen product not good enough as a daily driver yet hopefully the 3 XL will address the bezel sizes and battery life issues.

Not so happy about it, the pebble shape design should have been changed or modified. Whenever I see this watch it just looks way to open to damages
My P2 has no issues even if it regularly bumps into objects. It's usually hidden under my work clothes which helps for scratch but hitting a steel beam w/wo work clothes doesn't change much.

I have found the Pixel phones to have excellent battery life.
Maybe you're just way too much addicted to your devices? Yeah they don't have amazing battery life but for most users they do 24h which is good enough. A device with 36h changes nothing for me. I charge my devices before bed or as I sleep, not in the middle of the day.
Google always putting out garbage devices. The pixel 8 will be my last device until Google up their game.
