I don’t know if I would call myself an elevator enthusiast (although those old ones are extremely cool), but I do love those old antique motors, I have a few quarter horse induction ones, it really is wonderful to see those antique motors still in service, they will last forever if maintained properly!
Whoever worked on these elevators clearly had great respect for them. These things are works of art despite the modernization. They did it in a manner that was respectful to the elevator and it's historical character. I guarantee you stuff like this is not made today and they will never make stuff like this again. This is an elevator worthy of might me taking the time to ride it. All these elevators made today are cheaply made and are designed to fail within 10 years. These older ones were truly built to last and with pride.
In the cabinet you could read "DC-Drive". That was state of the art in those times. Formerly there have been DC-Generators to drive the DC-motors. The motors seem to be original, what a lifetime! On these you can see the collector / commutator with it's brushes.
I just found this video, so well done and so nice to see a historic building so well taken care of in LA.
These are not standard elevator videos, they're more than that and I like the effort and thought you've put into them. Well done!
Very Cool! Thanks for sharing. It is stunning!
Thank you so much for watching.

You are absolutely right. They looked like they were built to last.
Nice. The owner obviously appreciates the history of the architecture.

Yes, he really did a great job. I was very impressed.
What is the voltage of the motor and is it single phase or 3 phase and how many Amp fuse protect the motor

Gearless!! Lobby position indicators, are too cool!
DC powered elevator motors are not allowed by code due to safety issues.
Why not? Also not a problem with new controls....
Turn down the music. Can’t hear the conversation.
