I think they gave up on trying to make Emily look like the good guy in the affair situation and now they're just throwing Camille under the bus making her look worse so Emily in comparison seems nicer... But this way everyone looks just like an asshole and I'm rooting for no one ugh

Imagine a French person moving to America and the entire office being expected to start speaking French instead of that one person learning English. Emily would probs be the first to complain if she was on the other side of things
If they all already happened to know French, then why not?
If a French person moves to Canada I’m sure they’re gonna accommodate them in French until the person learns English.

That’s completely different than expecting an entire office to speak in a non native, non official language for literal years while you make very minor attempts at picking up the most basic of phrases
@@bitchlasagna1 well it’s English, it’s more realistic than your think, with it being such a global language. I wouldn’t expect them to speak German to me either but English? Ofc. It’s very normal and realistic of me to expect that. Specially here in Europe. I don’t know what else to tell you.

@@bitchlasagna1 she’s not refusing, she’s learning and it takes time. I don’t know where you’re from but in europeu this is not only common but happens everyday. Half the people I know in my country come from somewhere else and don’t speak German, and they live just fine, stop pretending that it would be hard or inconvenient just because you either don’t have access to a multicultural environment or just refuse to engage with one.
I think Season 3 was the strongest of the 3. As a French speaker, I appreciated that in this season, there were A LOT more French scenes. Literally entire sequences in French.
I still would like for Julien to find a boyfriend. I wonder what season 4 has in store for Julien now that he is looking for a new job. Alfie is much better than Gabriel because he is an interesting person. If Gabriel was not attractive, the character would not be as popular.
Season 3 was the most dull by far, but it was also the least offensive to French people (in my opinion)

Season 3, by a critical standpoint, was the most watchable season so far. They have toned down the unbearableness of Emily, thankfully. I think it speaks VOLUMES of our culture how low-quality entertainment people are willing to watch about insufferable characters but when the show actually improves critically, suddenly it’s “boring” and “dull”.
Some scenes still don't make sense . Why Camille's parents made a speech in english when there's only 2 english speaking guest.

Alfie, Silvie and Luc are the only good part of this show. Without them it is a tragedy, a not even funny tragedy.
I hate what E. did to Alfie, he really is to good for her. That guy give up his job what he loves, left his family and life in London, move to a city what he hates, take a job which is could be hard for him because he barely speek french and his boss is the worst, and he did this just for her. He did everything what no guy would do for her and she never appreciated him. I can't stand for Emily.

They could make an entire show with them and the basic storyline & no one would miss Emily. However, I do like Mindy very much and whenever she sings, I rewind at least twice to watch again. Her voice is pure heaven

I don't understand how she can be with this guy, he is the possessive and controlling, liar and he wants to cut every relationship she has, he wants that her only connection to be him. Wich is very dangerous and toxic.

I feel like with Alfie she just didn't want to be alone and liked his admiration, but never really cared about him, he deserves better!
As a french woman who worked with English-speaking co-workers in France, usually I speak to them in English and they respond to me in French. Because the fun in our conversation is about getting better in the other language. I worked in different companies in France and usually it is how it works. We help each other becoming fluent. The fact that Emily isn't trying to speak French for 3 seasons is really messy, but she is rude so it's normal behavior for her 😅
I know right! You would’ve thought all those months she’s lived in France she would at least try. Don’t get me started on some of her pronunciation.😅
@@aaliyah2020 I lived in France for a year and by the end, I understood everything and could also communicate everything I wanted (with some grammar mistakes at times but people understood what I meant). Emily is a mess. Like Serena says she is being praised for saying a couple of extremely basic sentences. With the worst pronunciation ever.
@@Ella-rx2vmeverybody is different I was able to learn a lot of Yiddish while I was working for some Jewish people but I know people Ny who been living here for 20 years and still don’t speak English. It’s not a personal offense to the people who live there it’s just different learning skills. I don’t understand how that’s so offensive to people.
@@SocialExperiment232 The thing is native speakers of English are coming to Europe, or other places I imagine, expecting everyone to speak English and making no effort to speak the native languages of these countries. Now, they are lucky and many people in Europe do speak English to varying degrees, but not everyone does and then that's on the English speaker to deal with because you can't expect people in other countries to have learnt your language.
It's one thing if you're a tourist, but if you live somewhere you should make some effort to learn the language. I'm not offended if people don't, but it will lead to a lot of trouble for them actually. One thing is that there are few jobs you can do if you don't speak the language. If they've got one of those, great (though in the case of Emily it's actually unrealistic that a French advertising agency usually only dealing with French clients would start speaking English all the time in order to accommodate one employee, but it's a show, so fine ;) but they'll have trouble with all sorts of things from going to the doctor to renting an apartment, reading contracts, ordering food, finding friends etc.
@@Ella-rx2vm it isn’t great for them personally and they should def learn the language but it isn’t offensive if they don’t. Which is why I don’t understand why everyone takes everything she does as a personal attack to culture. Like I said, I know tons of people who never learned English and live out here for decades, does it affect them personally? Probably. Does is affect me? No. And it’s mostly American people offended with the show really cause half of Europe makes fun of the French constantly. It’s kind of a meme. Not intended in a bad way it’s just jokes.

Okay- from what I hear there was a way that would not make Cami and undecisive, unfaithful bisexual stereotype and would sort of work with the idea they introduced in first season which is (as painfully badly as they did it) that Cami and Gabrielle have a bit more liberal approach to sexuality.
Just have it revealed Cami and Gabe are in an open relationship. It would be kind of hilarious to have Emily do her thing of obssesing about not her business, and then reveal what she viewed as cheating to Gabe and he confusedly tells her something like "Yeah, of course I know about that girl, she is Cami's girlfriend."
Dunno about other parts of the show, but this would at least make for somewhat fun plottwist.
I really hoped in the first season they would go for the polyamory route with those three, and instead they built up this MESS.

Season 3 was my least favorite. They focused too much on Sylvie’s business, which no offense, was the least of my interest, and not enough on Emily’s love triangle. Also Mindys character was kind of flat. She broke up with her boyfriend and acted like it was nothing while she quickly moved on to a new guy. Gabriel for some reason was not as attractive as he was in the first two seasons. Maybe because we could see that he’s actually a boring character and Alfie is much better.

I actually really liked that she didn’t say anything about Camille, I really didn’t thing she’d do that, I thought she’d say something. But it’s really not your place and I loved that she finally understood to keep her nose out of their relationship. And I adored that she kept the pact. I know it’s stupid, but I liked how they showed that Camille felt in the wrong about it and it gave her an opportunity to change her spirit, not Emily going in and giving her a chance to feel angry and justified . I liked fashion, I myself, like bold colours and I was all for it. But the one thing I hated is that how they don’t understand exes relationship. They don’t talk like that! They don’t just offer job opportunities out of nowhere and be all nice, ahh. I hated that Mindy had no feelings of sadness after breaking up, like she only saw a pretty thing out of her boyfriend and there was nothing connecting them at all. It’s really shows superficiality.
My problem with this season was the lack of consequences. They alluded to Mindy having another Chinese Idol moment but she's perfect. It's hard to appreciate her nerves when we never see her mess up. Emily was fired then ended up on Le Liste? Niko tried to cause a rift between Mindy and Emily only for it to be resolved one episode later. At this point, we as the audience will never be on the edge of our seats. It will always work out for the characters. And I hate what they did with Camille. I adored her in the first season but the tired trope of the guy coming between the girls is ruining her character. She was so chic and cool and a great counter to Mindy to help Emily adapt to Paris. I wrote in my own review of the first season that Camille could serve as Emily's guide to adapting to Paris culture, but Mindy could help her do so without losing her own sense of self. It would've been an amazing balance to depict for people in this real life situation. Instead, we get the nonsense of fighting over a guy that can't make up his mind. I'd rather Camille drop him, Emily stay with Alfie and Gabriel finally realize the part he played in this. Also, how is it that the episodes in this season are longer and yet, it felt like absolutely nothing happened? Mindy started a new job then lost it, Emily is back exactly where she was, minus the Chicago nonsense, and Gabrielle is still left choosing between Camille and Emily. It's dull and season four needs major improvement to save this series. Lastly, were we gaslit into thinking Emily was going to London this season or am I crazy?

I dont agree that what Gabriel and Emily did to Camille was less worse. Emily is Camille's best friend and Gab cheated on Camille with her close friend. At least Camille didnt cheat on Gab with his best friend.

I hated how they made Camille the bad guy, like cheating and breaking the "pact" with Emily. And ONLY for Emily's horrible-by-nature character to look borderline decent next to her. I'm still rooting for Camille, they can't ruin her character for me. As for Gabriel, no words needed. If it weren't for his good looks, literally everyone would hate him.

Camille is such a villainess . I love her giving a long speech in english at the altar. She is French she shouldn't care about translation at this point so she is doing it with the purpose to hurt Emily/Alfie the most. She play the victim so well !
Cami is the hero of the show and victim; not the villain their making her out to be. Also, as a bisexual woman, it kind of seems like this is what their saying about bisexual are so sneaky and can't take that part of themselves seriously. But maybe I'm just reading into something that's not there. And I liked that line: Not choosing is choosing. Alfie was such a great character. All of the actors are so much better than the show and the writing their given. I hope this doesn't hurt their careers in the long run.
I'm a bisexual woman and I don't think they did that. Cami doesn't wanna be serious with the girl because she is scared to leave Gabriel and also because she is pregnant. Just because a bi character cheats, it doesn't mean they are making a statement for all bi people (it's just ONE character that happens to be bi). This is what happen when all you see in characters is their sexualities...

I hate that people can’t just either watch a show if they enjoy it or don’t watch it if they don’t and have to read into things so much and turn everything into a political statement. I haven't seen the full video yet but I just say one thing: I am mad about what they did with Camille in season 3. It's like: hey she broke the pact but that is not enough (since Emily basically wanted to do the same thing). Let her cheat on Gabriel and act like she doesn't even love him (anymore). What the hell? I am fine by her falling for someone else but not like that.
I think the person I liked the most in Season 3 was Alfie. But I think he deserves better than what Emily has to offer so I don't ship them. Also I think it's obvious since season 1 that Gabriel will be her endgame. Such a clichee

I work as one of internationals with Dutch people and even tho they really try to speak English when we are around the natural thing that happens is that they switch to Dutch. So no, I dont believe its realistic that everybody speaks English all the time at work because of Emily

Love this video !! Please do a part 2 !!!! I did not enjoy this 3rd season as much as I hoped.. there were too many porn/sexual references and allusions, it really made me uncomfortable. Also I can't stand Mindy, she is just so rude and disgusting as a character, and she had an incredible amount of screen time. Camille was pne of my favorite characters and they ruined her by making her a cheater. Overall I am quite disappointed. Anyway, welcome to Paris !!!! Hope you'll do fans meetups

The only positive things I'd say about this season are the show focusing on side characters much more and people speaking French when there wasn't an English speaker around cause duh that's how it should've been. 😭 I was screaming at the fact that they would try to hint Emily and Gabriel still have feelings for each other by playing sad music whenever they'd interact with each other and go "NO PLZ DON'T KISS WE HAVE COME A LONG WAYY". There wasn't any romance between them until the very last episode so it felt realllly forced and we knew it was gonna happen cause he's the main love interest blah blah but do better Netflix, surprise us for once.

In the first season Emily was not only annoying but she slept with every man she came in contact with. She was selfish, vapid and completely uncaring about how her actions affected everyone else. Kinda like Carrie in Sex/City.
Why it got renewed? The remainder of the cast is outstanding in their roles. Slyvie is so delightful I would watch her in anything. She makes every scene rich. And who doesn't love Mindy & Julien! They are strong actors who are fascinating every time they are on screen.
Luc is delightful in his quirky awkward way, I Adore Alfie (would have stopped watching it if they broke up) & Benoit is adorable!
The pairings of all the couples are good except Cami & Gabriel. They are just awkward together, no chemistry. Cami is too unseasoned to pull this off. Gabriel I believe it's getting bad direction in his role as the mooney eyed love interest. Beef up his role as a chef cuz those scenes are great. Cami's Dad is Gold!
I'd like to see a friendship between Alfie & Benoit.
Antoine, Pierre, Etienne and Erik are also strong in their roles.
Emily can go on vacation 😂😂

Netflix renews this show because their goal is to have a large selection of content to watch and having a show with multiple seasons makes it look successful
I'm just tired of Netflix introducing (much better) POC love interests and then just have the protagonist not choose them!

That corset is beautiful! However, I do want to point out that you have it tied improperly. Not sure if you know, but the corset should actually be tightened and tied from the center, not the bottom. That part in the middle where the laces don't criss cross are the ties! Of course, you can wear it however you like but your corset will mold, cinch, and wear in better if tied correctly. Plus, it should be more comfortable that way

I've said this in another blog, but I give it a big thumbs up, and also wonder if the showrunners have started watching Kdramas because this season felt much more structured along their lines and story beats. The secondary characters began to be much more fleshed out and have their own stories, as well as having Emily begin to face the consequences of her own decisions. I disagree she is completely passive - the one area where she becomes confident and alive is her job, where she's so excited by her ideas she doesn't realize she's stepping on other people's toes or insecurities. I also don't think she's romantically passive so much as she's torn and just doesn't know what to do, which is a common dilemma in Kdramas. She doesn't want to admit her heart when it will hurt other people, but by the end of S3, circumstances have overtaken her (and Gabriel, who you should also include since he's been doing the same thing and should not be considered blameless). I think the characters are actually beginning to show a little depth, and it will be interesting to see how this plays out in S4.

Honestly - I watch Emily in Paris purely so I can watch reaction videos like this and yours was top notch!
I just feel like the writers googled aspects of "what makes a successful show" and tried to smush everything into the story without actually having a clear vision of what they should actually show. It's lazy writing of just romanticizing what running away to Paris would be like. "You'll get there and you'll fall in love everywhere and Americans are the hardest working people so you're career will THRIVE (even when you clearly overstep on your boss' decisions and having an instagram account doesnt make you a marketing mogul...)" ... and then they kept getting seasons renewed and have nowhere to go and just decided to factor in public criticisms and overcorrect. There's no thought process or actual plan with the show.
None of the characters have any real depth. The will-they won't-they storyline between Gabriel and Emily isn't that great for me. I don't know anything about Gabriel or Emily and they don't make sense to me as a couple. I don't know anything about any of the characters. I dont get Sylvie and her love interests scenes - I dont care about it. Am I supposed to? Was I supposed to hate Mindy's boyfriend because he tried to excuse Emily from a party and Emily agreed to go along with his weird plot when she could have easily been like "oh! no change of plan. I'm staying" or anythign to stay at her best friend's party? Because I don't hate him. I just saw her as spineless.
And I don't get all these constant set up for big thigns to happen for them to then just go absolutely nowhere (the coworker getting another job, Pierre Cadeau's nemesis wanting to be the creative designer, Camille cheating, etc). The entire season just feels like a show that is all filler content.
So bored and ready for writers who ACTUALLY want to tell a story to get Netflix production funding.
Why you spend your time on watching content that you dislike just to see more content about something that you dislike? like I get valid the criticism but man, it's the third season, the show is just not for you... This has happened to me with other series, if I don't like them, I just stop watching it, but some pepole really got obsessed with this show.

I didn't like the season. I considered the first two seasons entertaining despite the obvious flaws.
Season 3 felt so dull. To me, there just isn't enough progress. I was also hoping for Emily to have some character growth and maybe some more struggles. The whole "Emily messes things up but miraculously solves everything without much effort and damage" is getting so annoying. She gets away with everything. No longterm bad consequences.
I really thought for a moment she would struggle after messing up so much at work. Maybe really go into a crisis, try new jobs, LEARN about herself and what she wants but this whole storyline was also solved way too quickly.
Camille was done really dirty. I was hoping Emily and her could talk about everything and get things of their chests and leave Gabriel behind. I really liked Camille in the beginning but then they decided to write her so illogical, it hurts.
I'm also not too invested in the whole Mindy plot. She feels shallow and it could really be a separate show.
I would have loved to see more of Emily's coworkers and their life instead. And maybe learn more about Emily, too. We still don't really know her.
Alfie was my favorite character this season. He's interesting, fun and kind and didnt deserve how Emily treated him.
I feel like this show is afraid of going for forward and maybe leave some characters behind on the way. It feels like they still try to fit in almost everyone from the seasons before and focus on the very same issues most of the time

Tbh when i watch the show i don’t even really pay attention… i kind just imagine that a version of me in the multiverse got a different life and was able to go to Paris as a single young person and all the things i would do instead. Like completely just in my head the whole time. Lol and wow that show in my head is so much better
I'm the only one that feel, like in this season every scene was moving to fast from one thing to another? there was no time to really enjoy or even get in to what was happening, because right away it jump to another thing.

I disagree, I really real Emily tried to not date Gabriel, there are many situations which she dont not want to be with him and avoid him. It was Gabriel in my opinion that was trying this season. You can see she didn’t want to go to the restaurant, cinema, took him home and acc went back to her place. I believe she really wants to be with Alfie but it’s just a situation where they are still around each other which is awkward. If she could dip I believe she would.

Totally agree with petty much everything! I actually like the shoe as a guilty pleasure escapism type or show, but the damage they did to Camille’s character pissed me off! Down to her outfits s1 vs s3 really shows how dirty they did her just for plot point sake. I’m disgusted lol, but hoping s4 is the end and they bring back SOME of the s1-2 charm.

I am really not satisfied with the fact that it’s now three seasons of this whatever it is but we don’t have any side character or what ever plus size representation at all and I think this is so sad because there are very stylish plus size people in real life Paris😅 are used to live there five or six years ago for working project with a lot of cool stylish coworkers who arr wearing plus size and I really miss this in this show
I don't understand how Darren Star (who is a freaking gay man) has always been so bad a writing gay characters or characters who are exploring their sexuality.
I know that Darren does not write the episodes but as the creator, he should be able to correct his writers.
Emily isn't any better.
When Alfie talks about his insecurities in relationships she kept pushing and wanting him to be all in when she wasn't. All she had to do was tell him she really liked him but she wanted to try, take it slow. Alfie wasn't that surprised by her feelings for Gabriel so that actually makes him more likeable. He was still trying to be friends with Gabriel & be with Emily since he liked them both. So...I ended up liking Alfie more this season.
I hated they made Camille so stereotypical hollywood woman-scorned. I feel like they started her character in S1 as more grounded and smart. why did they have to have her cheat ....because all bad writing tries to make someone worse so that you like the bad character a little more. I'd have preferred if Camille just broke up with Gabriel and then go off to have like a girls trip with her other friends or something.
I liked a couple scenes with Gabriel...until you remember that he says he loves Emily and is basically gaslighting Camille. They honestly need to just have him go off and hang out with his friends in Normandy or something. As for the actor...he's so much better in other things. He was in Ticket to Paradise and did a great job in that.
The writers were trying to self correct, using all the feedback from social media. It was SO obvious .... so I too was like wtf when she claimed so 'devastated' by her breakup but it was one of the things I and a few others mentioned on social media as she got over that within a few seconds.
I am glad that they kept Emily doing what she was doing at work to some level, because they needed to have someone point out what a total Bulldozer Emily is. She takes over everything. But they didn't go far enough with that. They should have made everyone upset and annoyed, not just Julien. And I felt bad for him so I hope the next season has a more solid storyline for him so Julien can shine.
And at this point, I kinda want all the other characters to be happy and Emily to just...go down in flames and leave Paris in shame lol
As for the clothes, there were a couple pieces I thought were cute separately. Even the crazy coloured geometric sweater would be cute if it was just worn with blue jeans but they paired with a hideous metallic skirt and it was blinding.
I love Madeline’s character. I thought she was so funny and a little over the top but I really like the actress.
The only characters I felt chemistry between is Sophie and her husband and now someone tell me if I understood that correctly. Her husband got closer to her because of her bussiness? I was doing sudoku while watching and didn't catch it but it felt like whatever was said broke her heart, he said sth that I think indicated he is there for money. That was the only moment when I truly felt sth while watching this show, a big sting.
I am totally agree with you. Sylvie and her husband are the only ones who have the real chemistry in whole series. And their acting is way better, they are top, so i wonder what did they forgot in series full of ordinary actors like Bravo, Collins, etc... They deserve better, much better than this...

She clearly chose Alfie and made a decision to stay out of the other couple’s lives. I agree that she is basic at her job and lacks boundaries. I think this season she is more tolerable and tries to be a good mate.

Personally, I have no problem with characters who are always making the same mistake and don’t learn their lesson. I think it’s incredibly realistic to real life. People irl don’t just have a deep seated issue and get over it in a week. It can take years, decades even to adequately address issues particularly ones that are endemic and so inbuilt into who you are. My problem is that the show’s writing isn’t good enough to pull this off in a compelling way. A show like mad men for instance has its main character Don constantly repeating the same mistakes and arcs but mostly it’s written so well that u empathise with his struggle and it doesn’t get boring. Similarly Gabriel could absolutely be deluding himself into thinking he wants to be with one girl but rlly he doesn’t. Again ppl irl do this all the time with relationships, career etc. and it could be a very compelling storyline but EIP just isn’t a good enough show rn to be able to pull something like that off and for so many of the characters it’s a large ask for even a great show let alone a mediocre sub par one like this.
