This is your best test and evaluation video to date. Straight forward, simple concepts and testing backed up with real-world use. And, as we say often at Photonis Defense, since everyone's eyes and brains interpret light differently, users should always get the tubes and housings that look and work the best for the light conditions that they'll be working in, at the price point that they're comfortable with, regardless of what the spec sheet says, and no matter who makes the tubes and housing. For anyone reading this, if you're at Shot Shot 2025, please stop by our booth and bring whatever NODS you have for a side by side comparison and check out the latest offerings that you can order from CHS. We should have our new 40 degree FOV objectives sets that will complement our 50 degree FOV objective sets.
Keep em coming Ryan! Got a photonis echo+ +2200FOM hand select from you guys and its great, still wish I would have gone for a 4G High Gain tube for those dark forest environments. These type of videos empower the customer to make informed decisions and actually greatly help people make a purchase instead of waiting and looking around endlessly.
love to see it, Ryan would it be possible to also make a video on screen brightness? so like the brightness that would be measured from the output of the eye piece?
Perhaps, the problem when you get higher tier in NNVT tubes, the pricing starts to meet or exceed comparable Photonis tubes, but they do not have the same pedigree or performance/price ratio in our experience. That is only as of now though, so as the market changes and things improve, we shall see.
It would be very interesting to see a comparison of this level between a NVT 7 TOP and a photonis Echo or 4G. Since the performance of these tubes is noticeably superior than the more basic NVT 4.
Can you go over what the stats mean really quick at the start of videos and / or link to a video explaining them? First video I watched and it's fascinating, but for example, I have no idea what fom is
@MBern-pg7ro probably to keep sample size easily consistent and because white phosphor is commonly considered superior for most uses. Hopefully that helps
We agree. It may have shifted slightly due to the weight of the camera on it. Thanks for the heads up! We hope the other results can complete the entire comparison.
@@coldharboursupply I have the same thing when attaching my PVS-14 to my camera as well. My lenses expand ever so slightly when focussing and the threads are attached to that expanding part. This has caused focus issues more than once because the PVS will pull the lens out of focus. 😅

Always great to hear it from you guys, can't wait to see what sort of magic you guys are cooking next SHOT show!

Nnvt4 still awesome for the price very happy with mine
Couldn't agree more.
Hey babe, CHS dropped a new banger 😤
Huge thanks for the Echo build you sent to me here in the UK last week, it exceeded all of my expectations and I've been having a blast with it :)
Wow, very in depth and definitive tube comparison! Didn't know about BSP and how it works until watching this
Very in depth comparison. Great video as always
Just Got my 4G HG and they are amazing!!!
Perfect video, very good job! Can we use the footage from tube comparison in our future videos?
Really surprised by how good the NVT4 is in most situations. Definitely food for thought.
Excellent work boys. Great video

Love your videos, keep it going. underrated channel.
Will you have more NNVTs in the future? Like 5/7?

Very useful guide, however I wish you had compared them for stargazing
One of my fav companies anywhere

Good content!

This is a great point, there are a lot of resources online that have whole glossaries on terms for NV, but we shall keep this in mind for next time.
damn some quality contents
Do yall know if the NNVT 5 and up have a faster autogating than the 4 or about the same as 4 with the flickering?
Ιs it me or did the echo outperform the echo+ in low light noise ?
Jw why you didnt include a Green Phosphor tube in this comparison.

@Tattlebot I see. Hopefully they make another video.
Ok fine, 4G high gain for me, now how to explain this to my significant other and card!!?? lol

72 views in half an hour ?
Ryan really fell off huh
The normal Echo did not seem to have proper focus. Great video nonetheless!
Talking about the Hoffman test specifically, by the way. I should have clarified that in the original comment.

28:29 I heard "when we talk about night vision here at Siege..." and had to do a double take :))).
8:25 "driving the car.." - It's clearly visible that you're on a bike, dude :)
