Jakarta street vendors : noodles, porridge, rice cake / ketupat , etc Please do come to Bandung If you miss having snow, please come to Dieng , Wonosobo, there's snow season there😂
LoL when you said "The wife ask opinion on her husband, the husband gave her suggestion, but the wife did whatever she wanted to do in the first place" Is EXACTLY how my Indonesian wife act, oh God I didn't realize it's universal lol I love her.
Hi Kate! You’ve just won me over 👏🏻😃I like your clear and interesting renditions of your life in Indonesia❤ I too live in a very different culture than my own since 40 years 😊 I am Swiss and live in Kuwait . My experience has also been that ppl here are generous and still humane and helpful without charging you for every little detail. That will go a long way for happiness isn’t it ? See you in the next one 🥰
Di sini at least ada 2 pepatah yang bisa dianggap joke tentang wanita : 1. Wanita selalu benar 2. Emak-emak adalah ras terkuat di muka bumi Just try to remember 'em, Mummy Kate. Thanx for ur beautiful words and experiences. Love U
As an Indo myself, I really want to go abroad to have a better future. I start thinking how to get another citizenship. But after watching your video, it still doesnt stop me to go abroad, but just to make a lot of money 😂. So that I can buy my dream land and retire in Java’s jungle, under the mountain
Culture shock is for real! I faced it when I went to the UK to do my MBA then there was the reverse culture shock when I went back home! That's when I decided to become a digital nomad and call this whole world my home instead 🌎🙏
Yes, I'm familiar with reverse culture shock, too, when I go to the States to visit family and friends. Fortunately, that's not often and not long. Your attitude of calling the whole world your home is great. Thanks.
I already subscribe and give you thumbs up. And watching your videos are so interesting. Me myself an Indonesian who happen to be expatriat for 20 yrs ++. I will be taking retirement soon. And seeing Indonesia from your point of view give me enrichment. My parents live in Surakarta, near Yogyajarta.
ha. I get the opposite... when I order 2 drinks (because they're so cheap & it's so hot), I only ever get ONE. When I ask later where the other drink is? They respond that they thought I was just making a mistake. LOL. despite me using 'dua' OR ordering 2 different drinks.
Street vendors are still existing everywhere here in Indonesia. Especially in the old residential area where retired senior people live. I used to buy bubur ayam, and ketoprak every morning until i had to wake up earlier to work. Also thanks for the opinions. Very interesting.
Thanks very much. Yeah, I live out in the countryside north of Yogya and we have a few street vendors. I love hearing their different noises throughout the day, but when I lived in Tebet Barat in Jakarta, we had far more street vendors.
40 tahun tinggal di Indonesia apakah sudah bisa berbahasa Indonesia juga bu kate😊? Tentu kami penasaran ingin tahu juga. Ada baiknya membuat vlog dg berbahasa Indonesia...
@@celaranderson5816 Yes, I want to do that, but I have to build up my courage first. Talking on a video is more difficult that having a conversation in Bahasa Indonesia. 🥰

I’ve travelled a lot around the world and seen many amazing things people do. Exploring diverse cultures across the globe has exposed me to a remarkable array of human ingenuity and customs. While some practices may seem unconventional or even startling when viewed through the lens of different cultural norms, they serve as a powerful reminder of our species' adaptability and creativity. These experiences highlight humanity's capacity to forge unique lifestyles and innovations that often deviate from what we might consider conventional or expected. It’s absolutely wonderful.
I'm becoming a little more attached to your channel, but I have a question Kate, I'm an agnostic and I was wondering if locals there would be welcoming to agnostics?
That won't be a problem. Most Indonesians think that all Westerners are Christian. If you live in Indonesia, people would think that you're a non-church-goer Christian.

Indonesian saying "dimana bumi dipijak, disitu langit dijunjung" or "when in rome, do as the romans do".. nice share & nice vid 😀 👍
This is so interesting! I think I would be baffled by most of these practices. It's nice you've accepted them and adapted!
Thanks, @DoItMyselfPeg. It's an adventure.
