I remember watching the ‘16 dunk contest with my dad and my little brother and he was like 6 at the time and that got him into basketball. Easily one of my top memories of basketball. Up there with game 7 of the ‘16 finals and the entire ‘19 finals
I remember watching the 2016 dunk contest at my friends house and man we were screaming during the gordon and lavine exchange. 2000 with carter was the most iconic in my opinion and the jordan wilkins dunk contest, but 2016 is the best all time. The difficulty of the dunks was unreal and both took it to another level

The biggest gripe for me about the 2014 dunk contest; was that throughout the 2010s you hear everyone talk about how the dunk contests never had star power. Finally 2014 you had some stars, and they ruined it with the stupid format. Such a wasted opportunity.
Honestly I feel like Street dunking with guys like mr 720, tdub, and staples has surpassed what NBA players could pull off in the dunk contest(there are people doing 360 under both legs, bouncing the ball between the legs and dunking, and even going between the legs twice)
It’s just favoritism, he had the best dunks I agree with u on that but that last one threw him off. In the end it came down to matching each other and he didn’t match Zach with that last one
In my humble opinion... Lavine & Gordon overtook Vince as the best dunk contest ever. As someone who watched em both, Vince had that contest in the bag and was still killing it. Lavine and Gordon tho... They were both trying to win, and had to battle it out. That's why they get my vote for best ever. We didn't know who was going to win and it took a sudden-death dunk-off to crown a champ. I'll never forget where I was when I watched that.

Jordan Kilgannon should've been in the Dunk Contest years ago. I think NBA should transition into an Olympic games type of setup: bring the top the Dunkers from everywhere around the world. Street ball, other countries, and the top dunkers in the NBA.
I feel like in order to replicate 2016 we’ll need the younger player because that’s usually em where the creativity comes from. Based on this video the players replicating dunks are the veterans while the younger players or the first-time-in-a-dunk-contest players are the most creative.
