    The Grand Canyon hike starts just outside Blackheath, in the Blue Mountains, NSW and is a diverse 6km walk that can be done as a loop. Descend through fern-filled gullies and skip across stepping stones in the creeks, before climbing back up the stairs to Evans Lookout Road. An award winning walking track for good reason... Oh and it's also the access track to a popular beginners canyon... if you want to try #canyoning.

    About Caro::----
    I grew up in Sydney, Australia in a family that never went camping or on outdoors adventures.
    Therefore, it came as somewhat of a surprise to discover hiking and camping in my mid 20’s and it fast became somewhat of an obsession.
    Since then, I’ve become a leader with the Sydney Bush Walkers Club and Search Manager with NSW SES Bush Search and Rescue.
    The outdoors totally changed my life and I’m keen to share my knowledge and stories with others - hoping that they’ll catch the bug too! Apart from sharing tips here and on the TH-cam channel, I am also a casual guide for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, encouraging young people aged 14-17 years old to fall in love with wild places.
    You can also find me as a regular contributor for Great Walks and Travel Play Live Magazines, live on radio ABC702 Weekends with Simon Marnie and appearing as a speaker and workshop host at events such as Bushwalking Australia Conferences, ProBlogger, ORIC (Outdoor Recreation Industry) Conference, SheWentWild and Women’s Adventure Summit.

      Hmmm, I hate to break it to you... but you're still only seeing a 1080p image blown up to 4K. It was shot and edited in 1080, so that's all the pixels that poor TH-cam has to work with. Glad it's still given a good image though... actually quite surprised it didn't soften down or go pixelated!

      I agree that it is a great canyon to do... I did it years ago and still have fond memories of it. If you are in Sydney and looking for a Canyon adventure, then find a local Adventure tour group and book in, there are lots of great canyons in the Blue Mountains to explore.

    Lol. I'm from the southeastern part of the U.S. (Georgia) and was amazed that the Grand Canyon was so green as every picture I'd seen shown it as a dessert. Then I realized this wasn't the Grand Canyon in the United States. Learned something new. Such a beautiful place! I'd love to do a hike there.

      @@LotsaFreshAir hi, I have no disrespect but I've never been to Australia before, and when people talk yabbies etc I don't know what the heck they're talking about, and I'm saying this with a smile

  • @doubledee9675
    @doubledee9675 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You mention yabbies: when I was growing up, we used catch them and cook them for lunch in the billy just a few minutes later. using the fresh mountain water They were delicious. Can you still do that please?

    • @LotsaFreshAir
      @LotsaFreshAir  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yabbies... or Freshwater Crayfish as they're also known certainly make tasty treats, when they're caught outside of National Parks or Wilderness areas. Here in the Grand Canyon, part of Blue Mountains National Park, that would be illegal - but on private property? Knock yourself out!

      Sigh. Sadly Jeff. Not very well from what I hear. The area will be closed for sometime yet. But it's burnt down there before, so we're all hoping for a good recovery and rejuvenation... whilst not forgetting what brought us to this point!

    Thank you this is amazing! How long does the walk take?

    • @LotsaFreshAir
      @LotsaFreshAir  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on how fit and fast you are! Anything from 1 hr if you run it... to 3 hours if you take your time.

  • @aussie6639
    @aussie6639 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it a beginner walking and how long dose it take please

    • @LotsaFreshAir
      @LotsaFreshAir  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have reasonable fitness, this walk is fine for beginners. You'll need good walking shoes/trainers and lots of drinking water - take at least a litre per person, more on hot days and snacks. The time it takes depends on how fit you are. Some people run it in 45 mins, others will take 3 hours to walk it.
