Namewee is considered one of the most talented singer/song writer in Malaysia even though he is less recognized in Malaysia than in the other countries. He's more recognized in Hong Kong and Taiwan. He usually writes romance/comedic/brainwashing songs which most of them are pretty rare in Chinese song genres. Other than chinese songs, he also collaborated with other artists from all around the world and even celebrities to create songs in different languages (Some of the songs are partly chinese, partly other languages), one of them being tokyo bon (Japanese), others being Indonesion (similar to Malay in Malaysia), English, Tamil (Major communication Indian language in Malaysia), Vietnamese, Thai (3 times) , Cantonese (about 5 times), Fujian (very similar to taiwanese and south Min dialect). Sometimes, he'll make sarcastic songs to express his unsatisfactory against some sensitive matters that happen either in Malaysia or in the entire world, and during the patriotic month of Malaysia, he'll write patriotic songs which are very brainwashing and are sometimes played in primary and secondary schools. He's started his fame quite badly as he became "popular" by remixing the very national anthem of Malaysia (which is prohibited in act laws) which causes him to be arrested as soon as he returned to Malaysia after he finished his studies in Taiwan. He's hated by many people because of that, but slowly gained support and love in the period of 3 to 5 years. You probably didn't understand the 'bakayarou' joke in the end. It's because back in the far past, the Japanese 'tourists' would say 'bakayarou' regularly. The locals could only understand that it meant something like "you're stupid" but since they never learned Japanese, their Malaysian tongue (Namewee is a Malaysian singer) mispronounced it as 'bagero'.
I have learnt 'bagero' from my last grandpa. He was a teacher during Japan occupation in Malaya around 1940s. I am not sure if it was a wrong spell or what. He always used 'bagero' to curse my notorious act when I was a child.

Same mispronounciation in myanmar, but we learnt the word not from tourists but from japanese invasion during 1945.
