Man it hurts my heart to see Dunbar limping in obvious pain. Hope he heals quickly. Super sad it happened, hope they get back to the separate herds. ❤
At some point I always thought when you brought Dunbar from the original ranch to the Ponderosa that chances of Dunbar and Big Joe getting nose to nose was pretty good. Thankfully, neither one died. I also knew that Big Joe who weighs more than Dunbar and is older would win the battle. I am anxious to hear how Dunbar's shoulder is healing. I like Dunbar much more than Big Joe, but they are both majestic. Dunbar is much more friendly. By the way Dusty, Dunbar needs to know you're still in his corner. Spend time with him and give him cubes and TLC. He's been beat up and needs reassurance right now.

Well, I know this is NOT what you ever wanted to happen but, at least no one was killed!!! This could have been a fight to the death between Dunbar and Big Joe!!! I know from a breeding stand point this is a big disaster. Thankfully no animals or humans were hurt!!! Here in N Z we have found that electric fence outriggers work very well at keeping Bulls apart. With electric wires across the gateways.

The vocal tones of Big Joe I’m sure rattles the ground. It’s just so deep sounding!!! It is definitely scary just hearing it. I can’t imagine seeing or being around one of those big male bison when they are angry!!! I have learned so much much from this channel.

My impression of Big Joe is that he may be big and dominant, but he's a bit on the chill side. As long as you acknowledge him as the boss, he'll mostly just grunt at you. lol Dunbar got off easy.

Video was great. I want to let you know how I felt about a little boys dream was fulfilled by some special people. Arms Family Homestead hosted A Make A Wish boy. When Dan said about taking him to see Bison I was praying it was Cross Timbers and it was. I'm so proud that you all could get together and make this happen for him. I will remember this forever. Touched my heart.

Glad you enjoyed your trip up here to Canada. I am not a bison rancher or a farmer of any sort but that sounds like a fantastic weekend. I have heard some talks from Parks Canada folks before and found it very fascinating.

Thank Mom and Kevin for the footage they got. I understand it wasn't a good situation but the video of these majestic animals was beautiful and shows natural behaviors. Seeing how Big Joe used his breathing to make the different sounds was fascinating.

My wife and I are in Yellowstone this week, seeing these animals in person in the wild is amazing. It brings into perspective what y’all are doing. Hate this happened but it’s a natural process we’ve been seeing these last couple of days. Keep up the good work.

Good thing they don't duel to the death. They seemed to be at peace for now in the clip where you pointed each of them out. I guess when one loses, he just gives up until next season. 😂 Since wild herds can be many thousands in number, apparently these bulls have a system to keep the peace for the most part. I remember visiting Terry Lake Bison ranch in Wyoming and I can't remember how many were in their herd or how many bulls they had together. They seemed peaceful enough for us to drive around them. I guess that's part of the reason why people get stupid and get too close in Yellowstone! 😅

Would be fantastic if a great life was all we had, but we would never learn anything, nothing to challenge us. This is a learning curve for all, animal and human. I am one of those people that believe there is always a reason and a lesson to be taught or learn from an unforeseen incident. Dumbar definitely learnt a lesson, let us hope and pray he regains his full health quickly.💓 don't think that something bad will happen if you are away, thinking like that would/could make you stay at home.
Life happens at the most inconvenient times. Kevin was truly an awesome Support. The Boyz showed they are super healthy n athletic, in their prime! Just means the fencing needs to be upscaled, more heavy duty and alot higher than you think. I watched a Bison during rut season literally climb up the corner panels of the fence n over in 2 seconds. The Rancher's Sol'n was to round the corners of the fences so the Bison couldn't get the leverage off both corner panels to climb, it's not just Gates. They are soo smart, obstinate, n athletic you seem to have to overbuild to block their ability to get thru. Dunbar's shoulder and his pride will recover. They are soo resilient. Many thanks for coming up to Canada!!! Sharing your experiences is invaluable to all Producers n Viewers. Truly appreciate your transparency!!

So sorry this happened, especially since you were out of town. You probably could not have prevented it from happening, but at least you could have been able to deal with the situation sooner.
Hopefully Dunbar will recover from his injury with no side effects that keep him from breeding. I seriously thought if that if they ever got into a fight that Dunbar would come out the winner. I guess Big Joe is tougher than I thought he was.
Hope you were able to get everything back under control after you got home. Good thing you had Kevin and your mom checking on the herd for you it could’ve really been worse than it was. Try not to beat you up about this and make you decide not to leave the ranch. Everybody needs to do different things once in a while. 💕

I love bison, cows, farm animals. I especially like goats. But vision are so ancient and that fascinates me no end.

I love them all❤ I could see in the video from Kevin and mom that Dumbar was staying his distance per day from Big Joe but at the end of the day this is nature with these animals. They fight for dominance. Maybe some higher more reinforced fencing in some places or hot wire. I’m sure and have confidence you will do what’s best for them as always. ❤glad you had a safe and productive trip to Canada 😊

And yes, it always happens when you leave. My dad went on a business trip when we're growing up & our cow's got loose that same night, but we didn't know it until the next day. Thankfully they were found quickly. 😊
