      @@GuruRasaVonWerder you’re another one in denial if you really believe that Shabani is even better today, especially at his age. What he needs is new women so he can have more children. Captivity eats their brain away, look it up yourself and you will see how captive silverbacks are prone to heart disease.

    • @GuruRasaVonWerder
      @GuruRasaVonWerder 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NinoG053 thanks I will look it up when time permits. But how will 'new women' & more sperm squirts fix a heart condition? I don't think he needs more women, IMO he needs a place where he can fight silverbacks as strong as himself, just like in nature. He has not deteriorated in any way & how old is he & what is their life span?

      @@NinoG053 'captivity eats their brains away' & 'heart disease' are 2 different things. Evil captivity where they have no space, in a cage or small place, would be totally destructive in every way. It would be like 'solitary confinement' to a human. Here he has an ideal environment with lots of space relatively speaking, his entire family around him, good keepers with great food, etc. So how does that 'eat his brain'? Not saying it's perfect, but he was born into this & might be fairly accustomed to it, having never been in the wild. Of course the wild is best - but he can get killed out there by poachers.

    I've noticed a pattern. When Ai gets mad at Shabani she always tries to go for his legs, unlike Nene who just throws hands if she can.

      @Obvious Troll Here. I completely disagree. As someone who watches this family on a daily basis, I can tell you that this is how Shabani likes to play. I didn't say the females were playing, because they weren't. They don't always have patience for Shabani's occasional rambunctious behavior. I am certain Shabani would never attack unprovoked, especially his family, whom he only wants to protect. As most Gorillas are, he's a peaceful, gentle, emotionally intelligent animal. I have seen him lash out in anger as well, but only as disciplinary action when Nene lashes out on the young girl. If he really wanted to hurt them, he very well could. But clearly, the ladies are just annoyed/angry, not physically hurt or in any real danger.
      If you watch that behavior compared to the behavior seen in this video, it becomes more obvious that this is play. He loves to be chased, so what you're seeing in this video is an attempt to provoke the other adult females into chasing him. Also, you really can't judge the behavior of captive Gorillas based on the behavior of wild Gorillas. Most have never been in the wild and this is all they know. A major advantage for these Gorillas is that they're safe from predators and poachers. They are an endangered species.
      As for their living conditions, I agree. This was not a suitable enclosure and they did get bored in that environment, but they've since been moved to a new enclosure that's much more spacious and accommodating. I sincerely believe that they are happy, healthy, and well taken care of.

      @@ConsciousRobot GOOD POST--I AGREE--HE IS WONDERFUL & NOT WANTING TO HURT THEM AT ALL, JUST WANTS TO PLAY. BUT THEY ARE SMALL & WEAK, THEY CAN'T HANDLE THEIR EMOTIONS, THEY FEAR HIM HURTING THEM. I GUESS IN THE WILD THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN, THEY AREN'T USED TO IT. IN THE WILD THE SILVERBACK WOULD HAVE SO MANY RESPONSIBILITIES HE WOULD NOT NEED TO TAG & CHASE HIS WIVES, HA-HA, BUT HERE, IN A PLACE OF SOME LIMITATION, IT'S TOO BORING. THEIR NEW ENVIRONMENT IS REALLY GREAT!

    • @NinoG053
      @NinoG053 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ConsciousRobot so because you watch them every day makes you an expert? This internet makes you weirdos think you know everything. These are captive gorillas and they’re intelligent enough to know they’re slaves. You watch captive gorillas for a few minutes out of a 24 hour day and you think you have all the answers. Try living in jail being well fed & cared for and let’s see how much you can handle it. They do not belong in zoos. Sanctuary or a protected reserve in their native land.

    Ok here we go yet AGAIN Nene! Shabani is not angry, but I believe what happened is he was scolding Nene (0:27). Nene grabbed Kiyomasa who was playing with Annie, the kids were kinda swinging and hitting each other. Nene saw that and then ran over and grabbed Kiyomasa (0:20) and probably pushed Annie like she ALWAYS does. Nene does this because one she doesn't recognize Annie as her grand daughter, and she feels she has to protect her baby Kiyomasa so Nene will attack Annie. Shabani isn't having none of that, and he probably wanted Nene to put Kiyomasa down so he could go back to playing with Annie, which eventually she reluctantly did, with a super pissed off pout face. She could barely carry Kitomasa (1:02). Now after that Shabani got all wound up, and decided to play his favorite game of "family stalker tag". Nene AND Ai were screaming and barking. Shabani loves running and being chased 🤣. At least Shabani did pause playing for a second to check his wife Nene's arm, which must have gotten injured during stalker tag (2:08) in which she gave him the stink eye and walked off. Shabani is so naughty. 😂

    I love the way the ladies sit back and take the abuse and teasing-to a point! As soon as Shabani backs off, they scream and hollar with gnashing teeth and chase him. I see this with other gorilla troops (harem's whatever they are called) the ladies move over for the silverback but when push comes to shove (sometimes literally lol) they attack back as the silverback runs for the hills. I do not think there i any real malice it is a game.

    I don't believe this is Shabani acting angry, but rather he is aggressively playful, to the point of teasing the other gorillas to get them to chase him. He's bored, and I think he may have a form of Attention Deficit Disorder. His emotes are not of anger, though it seems his teasing does tend to get the others to get angry.

    In nature an adult male never behaves this way with females it is an obvious sign of deep malaise. By the way for all the rest of the group live under this permanent tension is horrible. In short, an abnormal consequence directly related to confinement.

      I think you have a point about the unnatural confines leading to anger but this happens in the wild.The silverback shows dominance and the females take it to a point. Shabani is bored and hyperactive by nature and likes the game of chase. My brothers teased me as a kid and I teased my younger brother, again to a point. If he had malice toward them he'd rip them apart with his teeth. They can do great damage with those canine teeth

Im all for protecting these animals but this whole family living in a concrete pit the size of a standard backyard is more harm than good.
