I hope you hit that small creek that had those monster trout, I think the video was called "Tiny stream lunkers"? Such big fish from a small creek...great to see you back...my Saturday night entertainment is back.
Another fun excursion. I find these trips with you a great tool for reading water. Each time you hook a trout I ask myself what made that lie attractive to that fish. All this can be applied to larger streams as well. Thank you!
Always amazed at the fishing available in seemingly un-fishable water (ie very very small bodies of water). I am enthralled at your prowess and true joy of the outdoors. Some epic videography! Edit - Have you ever fished the US Tankara IWANA? I checked your website but didn't see that one listed, only one other model you planned on testing soon, thanks!
So cool!! I used to call this “geurilla fishing” Fun and frustrating but where else can you catch fish IF You just get your fly in the water?! I’m much older than you. I’m used to doing this with my regular 9’ fly rod! (I left a lot of flies hanging in tall trees 😂) Thanks for the great memories and now the motivation to go do it again. Love those tiny streams in MT and WY!
Hi Tristan - I’m new to Tenkara and looking at a starter rod - what are your thoughts on the Iwana and other rods from Tenkara USA? What would you recommend to start with as an all around? GREAT videos also keep them coming! Learning a ton from watching them
I hate those beautiful tiny rivers cause they're so far out of my reach 🤣🙈 Amazing vid. I could spend my whole life fishing a perfect tenkara creek like that. 😍
Tenkaraaddict....you have probably already shared this info but what is your biggest trout on tbe tenkara? I can only imagine it is very difficult to land a big trout on such a short line. You got me started tenkara fishing but where I live trout are basically stockers but still but to catch. The reason I ask is I am having difficult landing trout over 12-14 inches. They are mostly stocker rainbows but they always seem to come off or break my line. I can catch the 5-8 inchers but the larger fish give me fits. It's like they know I have a short line and when they run they get off. Other then that I love the simplicity of tenkara. To me it isn't really fishing but rather an art.
I don’t think a 12-14” trout should cause too many problems on a Tenkara rod. I can see it being challenge but not overly so. I caught a 19” brown and 21” rainbow on my Tenkara Bum SunTech 36 rod, but I have to admit I had a buddy net them. Maybe try a bigger rod? I’ve been eyeing a DRAGONtail HELLbender which is supposed to be great for big fish.
I've caught two 18-inchers, several 16-inchers, and basically an infinite amount of 12 to 14-inchers. You shouldn't have a problem landing fish that size. What rod are you using?
This looks like something I might want to try next spring. Do you ever snag yourself in the finger when making those 'slingshot' casts? Hoping I can avoid that sort of thing 😅
Thanks Tristan! Challenging little creek, you fished it expertly. And is there anything more able to destroy a wilderness experience than the annoying sound of a UTV?
Did anyone pick up any fun new tenkara toys over Black Friday?
Not yet.
Im getting restocked on flies for this summer!
Pink dubbing and small red wire. 😉
I've been eyeballing some tying stuff as well. @@tenkaraintheiowadriftless

I haven't been back there since filming that video. But you're right, I do need to go back there. Thanks for watching!
Great to see your videos again. I picked up a Dragontail Talon Mini and a Tanuki Pocket Ninja.
Nothing big but lots of action. Fun.
Nice!!! Thanks for taking us along on your adventures!!!! Cheers!!
Thanks for watching!
I like your videos very much!
You always seem to have so much fun fishing!
I do! I never get tired of it. I still love it 😁
That is why I like your videos!
Thank you!

I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful! Thanks for watching.
Try a Royal Wulff if you want a dry fly. You’ll love it. I promise! 😊

love fishing on a tiny creek... great stuff.
Me too! Thanks for watching, Tommy.
Looks like a nice little creek.
Looking forward to trying my Dragontail Talon mini 310.
That's a fun little rod! You'll have a great time.

Beautiful creek and fish!
Yep, I've got no complaints!
Good job sweet stream tight lines till the next adventure
Thanks!
nice one
Beautiful creek stealth fishing. Nicely done, what fun. Those mosquitoes looked like Teradactyls.
I think that's an appropriate comparison!
Fish on good job thank you ALLstay safe
Thanks, you too!
Hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving..,Great video.
We did! Thanks Ray

Beautiful places to fish 😊
Sure was! Thanks for watching.
Are brook trout like the bluegill of the trout world? They seem easy to to catch and everywhere! Nice video, love your tenkara stuff.
I think it depends on the area. In my neck of the woods, yes!
I hate those beautiful tiny rivers cause they're so far out of my reach 🤣🙈

I'm lucky in that there are a lot of them in my neck of the woods. They're great fishing, for sure! Thanks Carlos.

It's happened a couple of times, but usually not 😄
You mentioned putting on a 7 foot level line, but may I ask what length of tippet you’re using?
Great video. Sorry the mosquitoes were swarming lol
On a 7 ft line, I'll put about 2.5 ft of tippet on there 👍
@@TenkaraAddict awesome. Thanks for sharing!
The fish seemed to get bigger the further upstream you went
Looking back, that does seem to be the case. Next year I'll have to continue where I left off this time!
Thanks Tristan! Challenging little creek, you fished it expertly. And is there anything more able to destroy a wilderness experience than the annoying sound of a UTV?
Nope, I think they're the perfect tool for the job 😄
Seems like you've been using a lot of dark colors on your flies lately. Do you think they work best, in general?
I honestly don't even think about the colors. Basically, I just tie and fish with whatever flies I feel like tying and fishing.
