2:20 this is Dave and this is my Radio. I got awesome reports on Local AM, Skip AM and SSB. Super clear. Decided to run my ProComm noise cancelling power mic on the radio. Works perfect. Mic gain and Microphone on full power works perfect. Great tune up on top of the Amp and Echo. Always received great. I run the radio on a sloping dipole wire that is tuned to 1.0 SWR across the band. Awesome radio!!!!

Find you a Turner Road King 70J/76. Amplified ceramic noise cancelling with speech compression. I got one a couple years ago and haven't looked back. They come up on eBay from time to time.
Evening Matt,the 880&980 has caught my eye since I can’t get my hands on a Grant II. Can the transmit & receive be widebanded any? How about HiFi transmit/receive mods? I’ve not asked Goldfinger about HiFi mods because it always slips my mind when I’m over at WWPD in the experimental section 😂 I was also wondering about adding a 5 band internal Eq since I’m an audio junkie but I don’t want to mess with a processing via analog rack or digital-analog in the mobile even tho that means giving up my beloved hall/room/chamber reverb 😂
No I haven't ventured into doing any or figuring out any hifi audio mods for that chassis. I would say just go with the internal 5 band eq. Thanks for stopping by 👊👋
What radio would you recommend? I was looking at the galaxy DX 959B or this bearcat 980 , plus I was wanting to use a Fatboy I think it’s a 4x 454. I seen one of your videos with the galaxy radio would like to get that set up and have you do some extra work on the radio.
You Americans like to talk on AM and that is why i did NOT buy this radio! Because it is a AM / SSB radio! I rather went for the EU version of President MC Kinley! But still i think the UNIDEN BEARCAT 980 SSB is a great rig to have! Thanks for sharing this video Radio Garage !
