Mazda MX-5 Miata (2016 - 2023): How to Install LED License Plate & Interior Lights - ND ND1 ND2 RF

- This video shows the steps required to remove the factory license plate bulbs, trunk bulb, and map / dome light bulb and replace with upgraded BMT XMS LED bulbs on a fourth generation Mazda MX-5 Miata (2016 - 2023, including ND1, ND2, soft top and/or RF variants). The specific car in this video is a 2020 MX-5 RF Grand Touring with Snowflake White Pearl Mica exterior paint and Red Nappa Leather interior options.
This simple and affordable mod is an easy way to upscale your MX-5. It definitely adds a more modern feel and increases visibility at the same time. While this video will apply to nearly any brand of replacement bulbs, below is a link to the BMT XMS bulb kit I used in the video:

My 2024 has a different housing for plates. But when I finally got it out, it barely goes down and cant even touch the bulb

@@SeanStettnichs ofc! Someone recommended me using a bent nose pliers to grab hold of the bulb socket. Havent been able to see if it that helps but i’ll let you know.
might be cool to replace trunk or interior light with ones that are red to match my soul red paint...

While the festoon led bulbs is a good upgrade. Those will not last.
I say that because with good amount of power. There’s no heatsink to dissipate heat properly.
And it will start flickering.
In my experience with brishine for roughly 4 months. They started to flicker. For reliability and longevity,
I would go for sylvania standard led festoon bulbs:
Or if u want the high performance festoon led bulbs that’s design properly, definitely considered Lasfit - L series.l festoon led.
For 28mm size, it only uses 3 pieces of 3030 SMD led chips. And it makes 2.8W per bulb. And we have them on our vehicles. My god what a major punch of light.
For license plate light. U want soenthing that’s truly reliable and definitely brighter than a stock.
Highly recommend Sylvania zevo T10.
It has a diffuse lens which it disburse the light output.
Or u want to make them brighter. Pop the diffuse lens to expose a single SMD led. Which honestly, 1 led is enough for the license plate lights.
Right now ur enjoying ur nice led ligirjt upgrade. So enjoy them man.
But these are my recommendations that to my honest opinion, u deserve better quality that’s truly worth ur money.
So put them on ur list, if anything goes wrong.
My 3 top recommendations for 90% of the vehicle, is Lasfit, Auxito, and Sylvania led and Sylvania zevo led for the lifetime warranty.
