C'mon; the cool factor of the car roof kill outweighs reality! Same with the hairpin turn, while shooting out his window. God, this movie rules! Edit: AND WHY CAN'T WE BRING OUR DOGS TO SEE JOHN WICK 3?!
I like how his guns muzzle adapter prevents the gun from going out of battery and engages the passive safety. If you try shooting somebody with a common pistol pressed against the body, the slide won’t be fully forward and disables the gun. Liam Nelson intentionally did this to disable a pistol in the final fight scene of Taken 2.
Standard tactics are for regular people, not for John Wick. It’s the same reason you learn the textbook in school but you don’t follow the curriculum once you are an expert yourself.
"But reality is, even the best SWAT Cops in the world, it's almost impossible to get that off." True enough. But remember, Wick is the BABA YAGA in the story. The Best of the Best. So Perhaps, he exceeds even the best SWAT Cop in the world. The movie is enjoyable and realistic than those of James Bond films. Bourne and Wick, for me, are the best action movies with WOW Factor.
John Wick in the scene where he was shooting at the guys son, I think he wanted the kid to be scared. He wanted to prolong his vendetta and play mind games with the Russian mob.
I'm not a tactical pro or anything, yet it was also for me very refreshing to see a movie with realistic details ! It's actually part of the entertainment and they made great or funny moments with it !
4:47 Um...No? That just a editing trick for better viewing experience. You often need to repeat frames. So that guy didn't dodge a bullet, he dodged a person.
That scene in the club. He started to shoot glass intentionally i think. He's playing with the guy, because he already knows, he will get him, as he is sort of a hunter, and Iosif is his prey
I really like both breakdowns Jose did. He pointed out things that were really cool & made very fair assessments for real world tactical situations. He obviously enjoyed the movie and he displayed that in this breakdown, despite depicting what was done wrong. Clearly, this movie was a great blend of real world tactics and Hollywood film-making coming together. Still, I love to see someone breaking it all down because you realize how hard everyone worked on these films. Please do a breakdown of number 2, please!
man, some people in the comments are really emotionally defensive of john wick. i love the movies but im pretty sure getting worked up over this is too much
Likely due to emotional investment, also you have to realize the age of the ones posting. Younger individuals tend towards having raging hormones, therefore get even more worked up over the minor things. Something you really like often times is held up as a standard, so if someone questions the standard it easily gets one's dander up.
I wouldn't say worked up, but some are. Some offer counter arguments, for instance: John Wick is a trained career assassin who is deadly with conventional and unconventional weapons. Keanu even says in a certain interview that weapons for Wick are weapons of oppurtunity.
@@thegreycrusader He is correct in weapons of opportunity. Anything can be a weapon, as I explained to a security guard, after he asked for my knife. I pointed out the writing utensils on his desk, the letter opener, his paperweight, even the tie he was wearing. It is just a matter of knowing how to use them.
This cop didn’t have his puppy killed. Only then will you turn into John Wick. ( only joking - good analysis. It’s great seeing videos like this from the guys in the real world that actually protect us. Great video. Learned a lot. 👍👍👍)
This was amazing. Usually I see stuff like this on other channels (not meant in a negative way mind you about GF). But to see it on GF made my heart flutter. Awesome job!
@rabid well the writers need to progress the plot. So you have to have a few well made stupid decisions which is pretty hard to do. Because every decision will be critiqued. Take a scene where a character is battling an opponent and doesn't use the opponent's firearm to kill him. That is a line of critique. Or if he does then there is a line of critque with that. They could say he should have reached for the gun or they can say he is wasting time and effort and is opening himself up to the opponent as he does it. Then based on how the choreography is executed you can see how they address that practically in a believable and realistic way. But you could critique that as well as he isn't doing it properly or this might lead to such a situation. All in all you can have realistic scenes such as the constant reloads and ju-jitsu and gun training and round count in the magazine. Certain tactical moves and methods. A navy seal if I remember correctly trained Keanu for the 3 one. There is a video online. Make of it what you will.
Most of the movies even the one that a based on true story don't make real sense in real life. Movie producer does really go for less realistic to make the movie more fun and asthetic.

4:15 John Wick falls 20ft onto a floor directly onto his back, and probably broke his back.. 4:21 we see he actually fell onto his concealed gun, directly behind his spine, which DEFINITELY would have broken his back
"None of the best swat officers could pull it off". If it is unclear, John wick is essentially a godly marksman, ie with abilities superior to any swat cop.
Its his situational awareness thats remarkable. The ability to adapt to every technique that each individual enemy has at his disposal, the combinations are endless giving how many people hes taken out. Its the fact that he goes against the normal ways of police/swat teachings that keep him alive. You need to think outside the box to open it
I think when John pulls his gun out to shoot the guy up top in the night club, the guy saw the gun / john extending his arm and realized he better move
About the scene in the night club, he isn't trying to kill the suspect just yet, he's trying to strike fear into him to later on kill him and his father.
4:50 "There's no way that guy should have been able to 'matrix away' from that bullet" That guy was literally an Agent in The Matrix Reloaded so I'd say, if anything, he's one of the few people who COULD 'matrix away' from a bullet
My only issue with JW and JW2 (I have not seen 3) is the disregard for bystanders. There are a bunch of shots where Wick places rounds in adversaries in crowds, sometimes on a literal dance floor. He's definitely got to have hit several bystanders per scene from overpen. 2 is even worse about it, having bystanders that barely react to shootouts and knife fights.
i mean it is a movie. it’s got to be dramatic and fantastical, and that’s what makes the movies so fun is that yeah the tactics are realistic and the fights use real moves, but it’s all choreographed and plot armored to make Keanu look unstoppable when there’s really no guy like John Wick irl
Many instances he points out I think are examples of realism vs the art of film making. 1: The lighting chosen for the home invasion scene is pretty dark and I bet the flashlights the bad guys use are a way to more clearly establish to the audience where the bad guys are and to distinguish them from John Wick. 2: The dragging moment I suspect is for a couple reasons. The fight being on the flat surface rather than the stairs is probably for both visual and safety reasons. Notice how the camera moves with Wick while he drags the guy so that it is lined up to capture Wick shooting the guy by the stair case from a specific angle where the house architecture works really well for the composition of the shot (choices like this are a big reason why this series looks so god damn good.) That general angle of the staircase is also presented moments earlier as the fight transitions to the more flat area so when we return to it by Wick dragging the guy the audience is already familiar with it. This is good film making. Dragging the guy also gives the audience a beat to comprehend mentally and emotionally that wick is dominating the shit out of this guy so when he stops in the middle to shoot the other guy (establishing Wick is a badass for great situational awareness) it FEELS like it makes more sense to a film audience. 3: The shot in the church where he shoots the guy above is not only visually striking but also establishes a solid conclusion to the action as we get to see that Wick has wrecked everyone in the church. I’m also not an expert like this police trainer but doesn’t it make sense to attack people who are closer first as shorter distance increases hit probability? 4: I felt him standing out of cover in the parking lot scene was to convey a bit of vulnerability while he is a bit more unhinged and emotionally off his game (but he looks great and powerful). It also gives a clear shot to conceptionally establish where he is. Even though he moves a bit we are still thinking he is by a bunch of SUVs which is important for the gets whacked by SUV ending. 5: As this Police Trainer points out, It’s a “Hollywood” action film. Wick may be more realistic but it is still filled with almost super hero level larger than life tactical performance. Personally I love that stuff when it’s depicted as well as it is in this series.
8:10 if you practice it at home a lot with your friends, that might be a good thing???? -What??? Like, shoot your friends while they roll over your car because your car hit them?
John wick is a trained assassin who is also us marine who served multiple tours of Iraq and Afghanistan. Who continuously trains and hones his skills to perfection. Who has many kills outside his military service. John wick is a man of focus Determination and sheer will.
Depending on angle (either the bullet path or the angle of the glass), bullets won't always fully penetrate through non-bulletproof glass. He's right that bullets will veer off its original path once it passes through glass and that Shrapnel glass is going to happen. One of the main reasons police forces abandon the 38, is because of its lack of penetration, especially through glass. Also, We forget sometimes that glass isn't always just made of melted sand.

You can bring your dog to the movies if he's a service dog
I like how his guns muzzle adapter prevents the gun from going out of battery and engages the passive safety. If you try shooting somebody with a common pistol pressed against the body, the slide won’t be fully forward and disables the gun. Liam Nelson intentionally did this to disable a pistol in the final fight scene of Taken 2.
“It’s over John, I have the high ground!”
Standard tactics are for regular people, not for John Wick. It’s the same reason you learn the textbook in school but you don’t follow the curriculum once you are an expert yourself.
So the flaws are all dramatic tension or "rule of cool."
Someone plays DnD. =)
its not cool if its not realistic
"But reality is, even the best SWAT Cops in the world, it's almost impossible to get that off." True enough. But remember, Wick is the BABA YAGA in the story. The Best of the Best. So Perhaps, he exceeds even the best SWAT Cop in the world. The movie is enjoyable and realistic than those of James Bond films. Bourne and Wick, for me, are the best action movies with WOW Factor.
He was a marine soooooo
:)
He is the man all others fear will come for them.
I never got why they call him baba jaga. Baba jaga is a woman, an old hag.
John Wick in the scene where he was shooting at the guys son, I think he wanted the kid to be scared. He wanted to prolong his vendetta and play mind games with the Russian mob.
That’s a confirmed fact
It's odd that the thumbnail is from Chapter 2, and the guy talks about 1
Thank you for not falling for the deception ,bro!!!!
You know the movie is dope when a police trainer takes his time to analyse it.
I love how some of the problems are just John Wick is too badass.
man, some people in the comments are really emotionally defensive of john wick. i love the movies but im pretty sure getting worked up over this is too much
Likely due to emotional investment, also you have to realize the age of the ones posting. Younger individuals tend towards having raging hormones, therefore get even more worked up over the minor things. Something you really like often times is held up as a standard, so if someone questions the standard it easily gets one's dander up.
Welcome to the Internet....
@@jad43701 agreed.
This cop didn’t have his puppy killed. Only then will you turn into John Wick.
( only joking - good analysis. It’s great seeing videos like this from the guys in the real world that actually protect us. Great video. Learned a lot. 👍👍👍)
Thank you, José. you are amazing! you insight was invaluable! thank you very much!
Great video dude, would love to see more of this bloke,.
Obviously knows what he's talking about and doesn't try to make himself look big.
What? He referred to himself as an “alpha male”.
When John Wick shoots the glass and misses Iosef, he misses on purpose, he's leading him with his bullets.
This was amazing. Usually I see stuff like this on other channels (not meant in a negative way mind you about GF). But to see it on GF made my heart flutter. Awesome job!
Doing everything in a movie the realistic way, would make it boring. You go there to escape reality.
john wick does all the competitive shooting shit, but not very swift and tactical
Nobody goes full Rambo.
*Production Budget:* $20 million
*Total Gross Revenue:* $88.76 million
_Please explain, in essay form, how quadrupling the budget is anything short of outstanding._
1:18 the name of the throw is Ippon Seoi Nage. One of the first ones taught in judo.
Keanu did real gun training. Not just Hollywood gun training.
whenever you make mistakes you improve and refine your abilities and sharpen your skills
*John Wick wants to know your location*
"the guy who lost his dog"...John probably start to the reseachs at THIS point :D Dont....fuck.....with....Babayaga (and his dog)
I see the 'Vulture' has moved up in life from pissing off Jake and Amy to pissing off John Wick.
8:10 "although, If you practiced it at home alot with your friends" they'd be Dead XD
just use laser tags you.... crazy human
I'm not sure if they'd work through the car... Not to mention you're hitting them with a car 😂
In the night club scene I always thought the reason John missed was cause he wanted to scare losef just to make him live his last moments in fear.
calling yourself alpha male is a bit of a beta male move isnt it?
when he says "this is a one in a million thing to do" i think: "damn. this shows HOW good john wick actually is"
I could watch Jose talk about this stuff all day. :D
Its his situational awareness thats remarkable. The ability to adapt to every technique that each individual enemy has at his disposal, the combinations are endless giving how many people hes taken out. Its the fact that he goes against the normal ways of police/swat teachings that keep him alive. You need to think outside the box to open it
The dude traint cops. He didn’t train the Guy you send to kill the boogeyman
With a _ pencil.
@@crustyou Dont forget The fooking BOOK! :D
He forgot that John Wick has aimbot, magic bullets, immorality, unlimited bullets, fly hacks, radar, etc.
He actually has proper reloads and shit, there no unlimited bullets
He always has a loaded gun.
I think when John pulls his gun out to shoot the guy up top in the night club, the guy saw the gun / john extending his arm and realized he better move
Please do more of these videos!
I need a John Wick-a-thon before i go watch the third!!
Anthony Fellows it was good
About the scene in the night club, he isn't trying to kill the suspect just yet, he's trying to strike fear into him to later on kill him and his father.
There's a reason they call him Baba-yaga
Great stuff!
4:50 "There's no way that guy should have been able to 'matrix away' from that bullet"
That guy was literally an Agent in The Matrix Reloaded so I'd say, if anything, he's one of the few people who COULD 'matrix away' from a bullet
Wait, what?
The actor in that scene was an Agent?
Was it the one chasing Trinity to the phone booth and almost shot her through the receiver?
Bro what? 8:11 what you mean you practice this with your friends?
maybe that's what this dude does for fun
Vice Richter who doesn’t?
John wick is a man of focus Determination and sheer will.
do john wick 2 and eventually 3 with the same guy please!
I can’t wait for John wick to do a reaction video on this
It’s easy to Monday night quarterback this. Wick did a damn good job.
How does one practice shooting through the roof of a car while someone is rolling on it with ones friends AT HOME!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Loved it!
If movies were realistic... it would be more dull.
They stated that on their video about Gun-kata xD
The Way of the Gun is realistic and not dull.
phong Wong John Wick goes to court and pled his case chapter 4
"Practice this at home with friends"
isn't john wick supposed to be a former special forces operator in his back story?
Yupp.
He was a force recon marine.
@@MylesKillis cant be hes actually intelligent
@@Dread_Pirate_Homesteader ha you kinda have to be smart to be in force recon
@@MylesKillis it's a joke
Depending on angle (either the bullet path or the angle of the glass), bullets won't always fully penetrate through non-bulletproof glass. He's right that bullets will veer off its original path once it passes through glass and that Shrapnel glass is going to happen. One of the main reasons police forces abandon the 38, is because of its lack of penetration, especially through glass.
Also, We forget sometimes that glass isn't always just made of melted sand.
This guy knows what he is talking about,
but in what world can people shoot a pistol like what they are using at that speed with no recoil.
Someone explain please
I think they actually made John Wicks pistol which is custom made and if I remember correctly it has very little recoil
A handgun recoil is not so severe that you can't control it. Watch Keanu's training videos
Real competitors can. Most people don't train enough to be able to.
Thanks everyone! 👍🏻
The few times he pauses, I could've sworn he did it on purpose just to instill more terror into Theon Greyjoy.
4:54 "Matrix away from that"
Hes agent Johnson from Matrix, of course he can.
So this is what happened when Neo became one with the matrix? John Wick is Agent Neo?
Is that really the same actor?
@@Likexner yup
You can always tell who is with law enforcement, by the way they explain things.
Great vid!
Imagine unironically referring to yourself as an "alpha male"
No, no. Imagine the fact that almost all cops refer to themselves as alpha males. Then give them guns and relative immunity from the law.
@@Demmrir You talk to a lot of cops I take it?
@@Demmrir Yeah, it's not like being a cop is 14th most dangerous profession in the US and that's just your regular cops, not SWAT. Jeez I'm not even from there and I feel sad you don't respect the people who put their life on the line to protect you. Then again, considering bubonic plague may be spreading in California due to there be shit everywhere, I should probably be glad I'm here in little ol' Scandinavia anyways.
Nah it's just confidence. All pigs view themselves as alpha males. Can't be be a bitch when you're a pig, you gotta be "alpha" about it.
Remember also that His whole suit is bullet proof. Those goons have to be very accurate with the headshots
Gues what I'm practicing with my friends today haha😂😂😂😂
The biggest tell in movies like John Wick is; there is absolutely no recoil with any weapon.
