Severine is the most goth name ever! I love it! I have a hunch that she'll be the most blond, cherubic, cheerful child who looks like she should be named Sunshine or something, but if she turns out to be a Wednesday then that would just be *chefs kiss*

Severine is an awesome name, I won't argue that. It's very appropriate.
However Lilith is a thing, in fact the name Lealith was invented because there were too many Liliths in the Goth world.

I first find your channel back in 2014. You were engaged with Mr. Owl. I followed you and watched you go through everything, you leaving for Germany, meeting someone else, getting married, divorce, get back with Mr. Owl and now you two having a baby! Am I crazy that I almost feel you like a sister!? So happy for you two and for your baby, lots of love to all of you.

6:20 I screamed throughout my delivery because I was pushing so hard (I have pictures of me after labour with broken capillaries on my face, shoulders, neck, and chest - it looked like heavy freckles/a birth mark), but my water would NOT break until my son came out. I was so humiliated and apologizing between pushing to the midwives and nurses. I even apologized before leaving the hospital the next day, and then during follow-up appointments with my midwives. Thank you so much for speaking about the screaming experience because I think it's something that isn't talked about much, even though it's oh so justified. Congratulations so much! I was pushing so hard and so long that I had broken capillaries everywhere plus 2 black eyes. They were almost completely swollen shut when my son finally came out. My dr kept telling me I wasn't pushing right 😥 it was awful.. I almost gave up until my husband showed me pictures that he was right there and he could see his hair. That gave me the motivation...

I love how you have remained utterly your spooky self and its so empowering. I found your channel about 5 years ago, when I would have NEVER imagined that I would be pregnant, at that time I felt very represented for having found someone who liked things similar to what I liked, I live in a city where NOBODY knows the slightest bit about gothic culture , when I got pregnant my life changed completely and I had a great immersion in maternal life, I found my reason to live, I saw many reports of childbirth when I was pregnant and seeing this one today made me cry, it's so beautiful to know that someone who helped me so much to feeling included before pregnancy also went through the experience of being a mother, even though our birth experiences were so different. You cause an ethereal feeling in me and I can only be extremely grateful for having met your channel and for being who you are. congratulations on the baby, for being so strong in this birth and thank you THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing your experience that was and is so unique.

Our surgeon was flabbergasted when he peaked over the curtain and kept his composure 😂 he later said he got a little light headed at the sight of my whole bodily contents but he was a trooper and even watched baby girl number 2 be pulled out via cesarean as well.

my first daughter put so much pressure on my lower back and i had so much swelling my grandmother (who is a liscenced nurse) was sure i had pre eclampsia but the docs all dismissed it, in the end i wound up being induced at 39w and the contractions made me wake up crying while i never dialated past 4cm and baby wouldnt drop, after about 28 hrs of labor the doc comes in and tells me that baby is getting stressed and since it had already been 12hrs since they popped my water we needed to have an urgent c section, now its lovely not feeling anything after all the labor but when i tell you that i was terrified cause baby was delivered and we heard nothing what was about 45seconds felt like minutes then as they messed with her feet she started to cry, i cant explain how amazing and what a relief it was to finally hear my baby cry.
in the end we both recovered well and she is now almost 3 but i do get what you are saying and healing a c section will leave parts of your stomach numb.

Thank you for describing this. I had a horrific pregnancy and an intensely painful and traumatic birth. People do not explain or go into how it can be so painful and upsetting and the “this isn’t my baby” feeling to begin with. It took a while for me to feel that also and she and I were in hospital for a week afterwards. It is important for people to hear these stories. People who have a wonderful birth etc, it’s great and that, but sharing this experience and had I heard something sooner, wouldn’t have made me feel not so alone. My daughter is 4 and I wouldn’t change a second of it (well, except my post natal psychosis, could have done without that!). That is a beautiful name for your daughter and I wish your family all the best going forward.

Im very proud and excited. Hope you and Mr. Owl are able to enjoy every moment. If you have any questions I’d be happy to help

I totally understand the not feeling like it was your baby/ disconnected. I felt the same at first and felt guilty because you always hear people happy crying over their new baby when it’s placed on them and I did not..I thought something was wrong with me for having that initial reaction. Thank you for sharing

You're strong, beautiful woman! And I can swear you, that feeling you have to protect your baby against everything will stay with you whole life. I can remember this feeling every minute I spend with them, even after six years till my last child was born. You're the best mum for your baby

I'm literally crying. My baby is 4 months old and parts of your story are similar to mine but yours sounds so scary. Hats off for not taking the epidural. Sticking to what you wanted. I had one, I couldn't have done it 😅 and also, I had a similar feeling of that's not my baby for a few weeks even but that feeling of your heart growing for the new love is an incredible feeling. Congratulations 💖

I'm so so happy you both are doing well! I planned on becoming a midwife so I know a bit more about labour and delivery. I can only imagine the pain you went trough. And with all you went trough I can understand the feeling of "this is not real", it must be a big mental boom. And "Everyday is halloween" so Im gonna decorate my new home for halloween even if its christmas time :D Take care of yourself and the little bat, sending you many hugs and kisses ♥

Oof, as soon as you said your ankles puffed up I knew where this was going :(
Thank goodness you're OK (despite what sounds like a traumatic birth), and Severine is home with you and Mr. Owl ❤ I'm so happy for you all!
The message at the end is so important too, it's vital for pregnant women to monitor their blood pressure because pre-eclampsia is so serious. Many, MANY, women and babies throughout history lost their lives as a result of pre-eclampsia and with all the medical advances we have now at our disposal it's avoidable and if not it's treatable/manageable with intervention. Awareness is critical though and unfortunately it seems sometimes women don't realize until it's too late.

I never had children myself, and I can't imagine the amount of pain you and other moms have gone through. It has to be the worst pain for a person to experience. But women are strong. They have to be. A man would have died going through it. But my mom told me that once the baby is born, the pain is gone, and the maternal instinct kicks in. (Jan Griffiths).

It sounds so horrible. This further assured me to never be a biological mum 😳 it kind of feels like the body betrays you...you go through all of that...and then you get this flood of oxytocin and forget how horrible it actually is, then bond with the same person who put you through all that...not their fault, just nature...

Primal scream is the right word. I had pre and post preeclampsia. On a magnesium drip. I was induced, back to back contractions. I had an emergency c-section because my sons testicles were coming through my cervix, lol! So he was coming down the birth canal ankles to ears in a V. Fun times. I did want the epidural but it failed. Which was a good thing. I wouldn’t have felt him coming through my cervix otherwise. One thing I was taught, though, was actively groaning with a super deep voice. It helps everything down there open up. And it definitely helped me with the pain as well.
Congratulations on your precious girl! Good job Mama!

Omg I had preclampsia for both my kids. The first born I had to get emergency c-section because my blood pressure was too high and I got infection when they popped my water bag. I too wasn’t able to see my son until the next day because he went straight to the NICU due to him not breathing on his own. And I had to stay in the ICU because my blood pressure went even higher and I ended up having infection. My son and I stayed in the hospital for 8 days. It took half a year to get my blood pressure controlled with medication. And of course with my second born same thing, I had preclampsia but it was controlled early on with medication. Way much smoother delivery, and enjoyed it more.

This is so similar to my first child’s birth, I refused an epidural as well, was induced, unbearable pain for 22hrs of labour but never got past 3cm dilated and ended in an emergency C-section. I’m in the UK and I feel like there needs to be waaay more info given to mothers about induction

My births were all fairly mild and had epidurals (w/ my son I tried hard not to but at 7 I caved...it was also induced so hats off to you♡♡♡) but I still felt something like you described when babies first given to me. I'm so happy that, while you had a wild birth story, you're all home and healthy ❤ I wish the very best for your whole family in the future and a happy and healthy life for your beautiful daughter ❤
I was a small baby as well, 5 lbs 9 oz, but I was born 3 weeks late. My mother had a dry birth, only 1 cup of amniotic fluid. I've been told I have some dead brain tissue because of it. I'm only 4' 10" and remember getting x-rays as a kid to see if my bones were growing normally and having blood drawn to test for disorders. But that was in the 80's, and in the us's horrid healthcare system. And all's well that ends well 😊

Thank God you both came home safe and healthy!! You are so brave for going through that without the epidural. I never had to experience pushing a baby out, I had 3 c sections because my first was born by emergency c section at only 29 weeks. He was trying to come out transverse (sideways). When he was born I heard him make one little cry and it sounded like a kitten, didn't even get to look at him at all because they rushed him away so fast. He was 2 pounds 13 ounces. They brought me a Polaroid picture to look at before I ever got to see him the next day. I will say this though, that c section was done super fast and my body was being shook and bounced around because of the way they were trying to get him out so fast. Soon as I came out of that delivery room the medicine wore off COMPLETELY all at once and it was a burning pain like no other, where thdy had just cut through skin, fat, muscle, and organ, they sewed all the layers and then stapled the skin shut. my son, Dorian Ray, turned 17 earlier this week, and that scar is STILL painful and tender. (I had 2 other babies cut from the exact same scar, but yeah, I believe the pain you endured was probably far worse than what mine was. I just wanted to share a little to relate to your amazing story!! Forgive me if I over shared. Anyway congratulations on your new baby girl, she's so precious, and you look great!! Xx- Tara

I don't know what it is... I've seen other birth stories, but wow, this was quite a story! This is the first birth story that I really felt as she was describing it. She's just so incredibly genuine, and this was a nail-biter of sheer terror and pain ending in utter sweetness and motherly strength, and for whatever reason this was the first time I think I got a sense of what it would feel like to have a child.
Also, the baby's name comes from the same root name (Severin) as my last name and is the root of what I always thought I might name a potential (yet unlikely at this point) future child... I don't think I could match the loveliness of the name combo they landed on, though.
