  • In todays episode, we venture into the English countryside to find a hand built stone castle that looks like something out of a fairytale.
One mans fantasy build began in 1989, eleven years in the making, now sits deserted and apparently never quite completed.
Built from salvaged bits of stone from the surrounding area, he intended to create his animals a home but ended up with something rather special... it is now known as the Hobbit House.
This right hand side of the building has some beautiful details, from stained glass windows featuring the seasons and elements, sculptured walls, a stone armchair and spiral staircase, this small but spacious room feels especially cosy.
This hidden gem is something we wont soon forget, it really is a magical experience, hats off to the man who created this enchanted cottage.
Check out Dark Arts TV to see this place after nightfall and discover if anything or anyone remains here.
Huge thanks to Matt, The Secret Vault for his top notch drone footage.

I take it you guys have looked up the older images on the story? Built by an old sheep farmer and artist it's all hand made even the windows but he sold up the land to move to Scotland due to a quarry opening up next door and disturbing his peace.

Amazing that this person probably worked on that till they weren't capable of doing so any longer. I could imagine and elderly man standing up in that loft lit by candles meticulously placing the perfect stones, just at the correct angles to create what to me is one of the most unique structures I've ever seen someone build.
ALSO: Just a heads up, the tone of your voice along with the volume of the music made it a little difficult to hear what you're saying.

Not sure why everyone is assuming it was done by one man. In days gone by entire families and extended families worked on a project like this. Definitely unusual. But very common to keep the animals in the same structure. For thousands of years in every country it was practical. Main source of warmth.....

Love it. I'd love living in a place like that. Needs work but would so be worth it.

Building something like that nowadays would be impossible you'd never get planning permission or pass building regulations.

its not intended for living within so planning regulations wouldn't be involved, you could simply make a peace of art-work.
also you can have a none permanent structure where only a outlined consent is required "its not hard to get" the guy who designed the angel of the north, he's got some large metal statues in his garden he's designed & made with no issues

It was only intended for animals & you are entitled to build a shelter on land that you work. It is when you start wanting to install water & power that the problems start.

@@sarahstrong7174 No, issues begin when habitation is wanted &/OR a structure is built that purpose is the key goal... stepping to the side even large artwork has also been looked down upon & sometimes requires planning permission "especially if someone reports any such structure/building" you then also get hit with building regs & safety requirements "especially if the structure is near OR accessible to/by the public"
installing power/water isnt an issue at all

That is beautiful work. Would make for great hunting hangout. The guy must have been really short. Also, would contain much heat if he had a fireplace. Love this.

What about creating a ''go fund me'' page for this amazing art work? It could be a nice crowd funding project.
