Love your videos. Just found your vids a couple of weeks ago, and have learned so much. You inspire me to continue my journey as a reseller. Time is precious, and I appreciate you taking your precious time to share your knowledge and help. God Bless you.
I was at a annual garbage dump many years ago with my nephew who was 8 it was during clean up week and I saw an old wooden radio with orange colored knobs, just as I noticed it my Nephew picked it up and smashed it to pieces on the ground , later on I went to an old man who was an antique dealer and told him about it ,He told me to go back and see if the dial knobs were still there sure enough they were and he gave me $300 bucks for them because they were original and were older than bakelite he had a radio and just needed original knobs
Great tip Pete I've been following you since you started I don't know how I missed so many of your older videos -Shame on me! You are a wealth of knowledge. Take care n Peace
Yes your absolutely right especially vintage boat motors running or not people need the parts and want original parts to restore them , they demand premium prices
Thanks for mentioning the HP calculator!!. I just looked it up on CL and found like 6 (15$ to 100$ depending on the person. ). Going to keep it in mind. From now on!.
Out of all the resellers I have to say I'd rate your videos #1. Such a wealth of knowledge and I feel like you don't hold back either, my goal is to make $500 profit/ mo. Long ways to go only made 2 sales so far... Very very new.. Very ..
Great video really good advice. When you found the oboe on Craigslist wee you searching in musical instruments or searching on everything, or maybe using an app which alerted you?
I am glad Pete is now more open about the worth of the items he is buying from unsuspecting sellers. If he was still like he is in these early videos, then not only would I have not subscribed to him but I would have blocked the channel as well via the do not recommend option. But yes, despite the profit-by-any-means attitude these early videos are still an interesting, if slightly uncomfortable, watch.
I haven't sold alot of things on ebay, few vehicles and some hunting gear, but i have sold an oboe too. I'm not sure why but they fetch much more than clarinets
Pete .. are u ever concerned that say at that moment in time 1 week... that the interested individuals won't be on line or out of touch and therefore you will be letting go a valuable item for much below the value? if you see its nearing the end or I t sold below what you feel is right will u pull the item from auction? and how does that work on ebay. say how far in advance of an auction ending can pull it?
Thank You Craigslist hunter I want to thank you for all the information and I'm surprised to know that I'm not watching all the right people thanks again
Hello Pete, Just curious, how many days did you set the Yamaha Oboe Student Model YOB-211 for -- 7 days, 10 days, or shorter? Also, do you tend to use a longer time frame for your bids? Doing my research into online selling/reselling. Thanks much.
Good video!!!! I always ask at yard sale is they have any broke electronics. and mostly they give it to me or like really really cheap. even some broken dvd players sell from 15 to $30.
+DavidRsaid You can can pull the boards out out and if you sell scrap metal at all or batteries some of the scrap yards buy circuit boards and stuff, IIRC it was like 40 (or 20) cents a pound but its been 3 or 4 years and i mainly focused on copper and aluminum anyways. You could get the gold out yourself but from what iv heard about the process, it ain't nothing nice... A long time ago (in a dream, someone said...) ive been been known to have mixed some common household products that is said to be kinda dangerous but I figured leave the gold extraction to the pros
Older vid...newer comment. I've sold on Ebay...kindof hit or miss...and always do the \buy it now\ instead of auction. I too wonder how you start at 1 dollar....there must be a reserve, isn't there? I've never had the nerve to try an auction, because I have a concern, like many I bet, that if I list an item like that Oboe for example...you may not even make enough to pay your horn guy for the repairs he did. Otherwise, may I say, these are some great straight shooting vids you've posted, and I thank you for them....K'bo
+akimmbo high demand items like ipods are safe to start at a dollar and may actually work in your favor in the long run with no reserve because it can start a bidding war(despite there being thousands of them, people will get locked into a single mind state of wanting THAT one, and more specifically, not wanting whoever keeps outbidding them to win). low demand items need to be fixed price listings. (you can always add the best offer option to fixed price listings, they make an offer, you decide if you want to accept it or not)
If you're a new seller on eBay and have no ratings so far, how do you get people to buy from you? I think people are worried since I haven't bought or sold.
sahkanoodo Yes I know it takes time to get some feedback so buy some very cheep items for like .99 cents and that way you will get some ratings and just be patient good luck. Cheers !!
Buy textbooks. Anything with an ISBN13, scan it and make sure its worth the money. Then list it as cheap as you can. Students very rarely care what your rating is. They just want a good deal.
Nice video. What are you using for your screen share to shoot your videos? I want to do more "seller helper" videos for my channel but haven't really found a good program to use. Appreciate it.
I only use screen shot from Microsoft here is the link windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/snipping-tool Its super easy to use. Thanks for watching :)
when someone crys me a river saying how much it will cost for them to get there, I just laugh and tell them to walk, it's cheaper. why should I give a deal because you can't find something closer.
I'm not afraid of broken or items missing parts. Generally that stuff does better for me than really nice items. If I can fix stuff, cheap, I do, if not, I sell it as is, but am careful to list everything I can find wrong. Junk seems to sell for me better than nice stuff. However, every time I try that starting it a a buck, I get hosed. So whatever I paid is usually my starting price. However, some stuff I get for free, so I start those at a buck or 99 cents. If I don't have anything in it, doesn't matter what I get just so I get something. I repair a lot of old vintage lighters, mostly because I can, but many I will sell just for parts and they often do better than ones that are shined up and in working order. If you find electric guitars that aren't something special, the parts will do better than the whole guitar. I don't like the idea of taking apart guitars that could be made or are playable, but fact is unless they're big names or rare, it's better to sell parts. I see to do the best with junk from trash piles or found along side the road. Why? I'd like to figure that out.
+vetterfellow it depends on what you're selling, if its a high demand item like an ipod you wont have problems doing that, if on the other hand its a big press kit of 50 8x10 pictures that nasa sends to schools, dont be too surprised if it ends at a dollar because most people who would be interested in that dont even know nasa does that, nor would they be actively looking for it from week to week.
Pete .. are u ever concerned that say at that moment in time 1 week... that the interested individuals won't be on line or out of touch and therefore you will be letting go a valuable item for much below the value? if you see its nearing the end or I t sold below what you feel is right will u pull the item from auction? and how does that work on ebay. say how far in advance of an auction ending can pull it?
+Numis Mm ebay used to be where you could just have a second account and buy the item yourself and only have to pay the ebay fee but you at least got to give yourself a good rating, ebay was a lot cooler then because it was more auctions then it was buy it now stuff and it didnt have that think where it would auto increase your bid built in which was bad for sellers but good for buys, on hollowdays i would look for sfuff that was about to end one time that people wouldnt normally be on there like right at newyears or something and get really good deals but one you have to be careful about about checking the shipping cost because people would list the shippping cost really high to avoid paying extra fees to ebay
You, sir, are one of the most informative people I have found! Thank you so much!
+Patrick Martin Thank you fro watching. Cheers !!
Pete, you see value and opportunity everywhere. I love it. In the south we would say that "You could make a silk purse out of a sough's ear"...TY lol

+DavidRsaid i sell them on eBay. not all sell good but there are some models that sell good!! i just scrap the rest for metal.

How does anyone test broken units? Is there a special tester to use or just using knowledge?
i have an iphone 5s a guy who ones me money gave it to me but it needs crack im in greece how i can sell it
You look a lot younger without the beard...
when someone crys me a river saying how much it will cost for them to get there, I just laugh and tell them to walk, it's cheaper. why should I give a deal because you can't find something closer.
I should mention this to a customer....just go ahead and say it........

Imagine if you are a new Ebayer and start something so expensive like this at $1.00 and then it sells for $5? lol
people do buy loads of crap
I got railroaded from starting a bid at a dollar. Be careful with this method. Doesn't work for everyone I guess.
Ripping off more people
Which shouldn't be surprising considering he previously said he previously worked in corporate. Must be difficult shedding those dog-eat-dog tactics.
