Fascinating! I avoided chemistry at school when I was at the stage I could choose subjects to study here in UK but, looking back, I realise I missed out on so much. I an now understand how these materials are made. Very clear and well explained. Thank you so much!

So nice to see these chemicals in action instead of just reading about them in lecture notes.

This is by far one of my favourite organic chemistry demos. Most o-chem is pretty boring looking in terms of the reactions and their products. As long as you do it right, anyways, heh. So, to have one that has such a striking effect is quite a rarity. And thus, a real treat.

    Hi
it is indeed a great video, but can you tell me weather you used adipoyl chloride or adipic acid along with hexamethylene diamine.
because when i tried the same reaction using adipic acid i did not get the nylon
please let me know your response.

    hello ma'am
    this video is so helpful
I have one question in my mind
toothbrush brussels made of nylone and base of nylon is petroleum is this correct?

I would like to know how to make the nilon stronger. Is it by simply spinning it by making it more durable or more liquid is more stronger?

Great video. As a fly fishing guide, nylon is near and dear to my heart… my challenge right now is to change its properties to make it more elastic without memory… I’ve achieved 25% stretch with just boiling water and salt, but the coils are still there and the nylon monofilament retains memory when it cools… any thoughts on how to chemically and permanently remove memory from nylon?

Please tell me how I can use Cyclohexanone. I thought it was used in the production of Nylon.
