- In preparation for the delivery of a $1.4 million excavator, Tony Beets has to clear his yard of snow but struggles to start up his equipment in -22 degree weather.

some mines used to make miners shower after doing high grade runs. And the shower water was added back to the system for reclaim.

Caterpillar 6090f has 1,000 ton.
@@IronWarrior95 6090 only comes in shovel. 9800 comes in shovel and excavator configuration, again liebherr has the largest excavator.
I’ve never seen such a dramatic show about clearing a parking lot😂.
Maybe plug the engine in so the block heater will have it warm, and then have some cans of "summer air" on hand to help get her going.
Maybe a battery heater too

Gees, I know nothing about anything, but we always service our gear and swap out all oils when we are going to park up. And perhaps it might be wise to invest in a block heater and hydraulic heater? Alot less stuffing around.
How are you going to provide power to a block heater that's big enough to warm 100 quarts of oil?
How is it that you can make sure that your oil is the right temperature but forget to check that there is enough of it?
Maybe your brain doesn't work at -30 or something I don't know but that seems like a school boy error for a man like Tony Beets.
Suprised he hasn't built an aircraft hanger to protect his equipment. Considering the pocket change compared to cost of equipment would be one of the first things I'd invest in.
These machines are so huge it would be a massive undertaking to make one disappear without a trace

Just did a quick google, a 40x24x20 diy kit is like 8500 bucks. Im sure thats not even remotely large enough for more than maybe his rock trucks and even then probably only one at a time. Found another reference that says 15-25 bucks per square foot including concrete. These are specified as aircraft hangars but if all you need is the shell to keep the weather off you could probably work with it.

This shows how dramatized this show is. I used to make ice roads in the Yukon. Basically I paid to drive back and forth all day on my sled to pack the snow down. Best job ever. That is because snow is an insulator and if you don't remove it or pack it, it won't let the ground underneath freeze enough to be able to walk equipment over it. So this whole drama isn't any kind of drama. Tony is literally just removing the snow to begin the work. That is all.
Thats every show every made so get used to it

So, first you check the oil level before you start the cat up, then you check the level when the cat is warm. Two different levels and there is no way Tony wouldn't check oil level before starting up on a million dollar machine. Whole show is scripted.

Did you know Gold Rush has over three hundred people on their film set, they have two batches of crew over the season, 600+ people mostly flown in from Great Britain. And apparently none of them knows anything about heavy equipment.
@Mark Hepworth --- The film crew includes writers, producers and directors. They are the ones who write the terrible scripts, they are the ones who make a big production about unloading a bulldozer, they are the ones who have no idea how to start a diesel engine in extreme cold. Remember Dave Turin on there? Remember how he couldn't deliver his lines on camera? Season number 1 of Gold Rush was sort of real, since then it is mostly scripted.
Also, did you know Tony gets about USD135,000 per episode for himself and the rest of his family? Everything, no mater how trivial is badly turned into drama.
@@davidnull5590 Considering they didn't unload a dozer it seems you know little about heavy equipment too. Most major shows pay they people on it well. That doesn't necessarily mean its scripted it means the show is successful.

So your telling me that you try starting the dozer, it doesn't run well so you decide to check the oil and gotta add 25 gallons. Bruh what is this script.
I didn't mean that the dozer doesn't take 25 gallon of oil, but the fact if you had to ADD 25 gallons of oil to it after running, the damage is done, you ran it when little to bo oil was in it.

I've had triaxle trucks that take 16 gallons, I imagine some seriously large heavy machinery would take something like that

You often try and start your million dollar dozer without checking the oil? First thing we do at work is pop the hood in our equipment and do fluid checks.

Same here every February it gets to minus forty but we have pro heats that heat the machines for two hours then u can start em up,do they always work....ahaha 😏he must know this.... 😏✌️😎🇨🇦
The sales guy knew Tony wants to go lower so he puts another few 100k on the price so he could go down.
This is what I always did with certain customers. purchase price + 12.5% and give the customer after some negotiation the 2.5 back and make them feel they won, while 10% was enough for my sales targets

Yeah I’m a produce farmer and we try to put equipment inside as much as we can, my dad always told me you pay for the shed whether you have it or not because when you don’t have a shed, stuff rusts, and causes things to fail which cost money anyways so you might as well build a few sheds even if it’s a little lean too it’s still something
tough to keep the fuel fron jelling, on the railroad our locomotives had fuel preheaters

So to be clear, nobody checked the oil before minus 30 startup and nobody noticed the engine is already damaged from trying to start without 20 galons of oil?
