    Just acquired the same bike here in NM, USA. It is NOT a performance bike by any means but is one helluva lot of fun! It puts a grin on my face every ride. I'm going with full US Army military look...black lights, chrome silencer is replaced with black punjab short bottle (with baffle), black handlebars, etc etc. It's a little tractor of a motorcycle with plenty of torque and can haul it around in just about any gear. I'm keeping the 18T front gear as the altitude here kills horsepower and losing any torque isn't desirable nor do I need higher speeds. 55-60mph is the sweet spot for these. I also put on the exhaust wrap and it looks PERFECT on this bike. Always pad your schedule with five extra minutes for chats at gas stations and parking lots!

      Hi briand4000, great response. You've captured the essence of these bikes. Love the tractor analogy!! They really are good old basic fun!!
      You've put a great deal of time and personal touches into yours, but I can tell it's been rewarding.
      So true about allowing time to chat to admirers too!!

    To rid yourself of a bit of vibration, can I suggest fitting bar end weights.. That's what they're for.. They reduce vibration in the handgrips..

    Thanks for the review, well done. I have a 2019 500 Classic Chrome, still running it in, but love it. I changed the front sprocket to a 19 tooth, changed the muffler, and had a Carbury plate installed. Still running the bike in, done 1300km so far. I did check the bolts recently and found a few that needed a twitch up but no issues overall.

    I have the classic chrome model , these are great bikes but not for motorways. When you are out so many people give you a wave and a smile 😀

    • @catherineunlimited
      @catherineunlimited  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the Royal Enfields certainly seem to bring out the smiles. We tend to avoid motorways too and stick to the slower, scenic roads. Enjoy your classic crome model!

    you may want to try the following spark plugs to remediate the jerky throttle responds as mentioned by "Ride with Warro": NGK BPR6ES or BP6ES

    The rubber on the fins is a very old and effective trick, it is there to reduce what is called 'ringing', a high frequency vibration of the cooling fins that can be wearing and stressful on your ears, the longer and deeper the fin the worse the ringing is. Use 'loctite or similar on the bolts that you find come loose most often, problem solved

      @BilgemasterBill 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What are you talking about? On a BAD day, if you wandered into the dealership under heavy medication and were stupid enough to pay full sticker price, you could buy brand new Military Bullets all day long, as many as you like, for $5,699 each. Most realistically sell for nearly a thousand or so less than that. Buy one in winter to get the very best price. Better yet, just buy a good used one.

    • @catherineunlimited
      @catherineunlimited  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mars1313, I hope you have many great Royal Enfield rides out on the Californian roads. I think you share some similar roads and rocky scenery as we do here in Spain.

    Can you explain the water in the fuel? Was the vent/drain hole clogged and allowed the rain to accumulate and overflow into the fill opening? They get a lot of rain in India. I can't believe under normal circumstances rain gets into the fuel tank. If a clogged vent/drain that is good to know. I just purchased a cream color 500 classic. I will keep an eye on the vent/drain hole.

    • @catherineunlimited
      @catherineunlimited  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Joseph. Yes, it was simply a clogged drain pipe. We don't get much rain in Spain but when we do it's heavy!! Hope you have lots of fun on your cream 500 Classic. These bikes are great fun and they certainly turn heads.

    You know green battle is not meant for civilians in India it is officially registered under Defence so bit low I mean such a beautiful colour is not meant for us I mean we are riders....and core RE fanatics....

    • @catherineunlimited
      @catherineunlimited  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ariel, Adam said it's up to personal taste but it doesn't bother him. We're normally doing local journeys so we don't spend long periods of time at 80kph. As the pillion passenger I have to say I never notice it!

    Thanks!

    • @catherineunlimited
      @catherineunlimited  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Elias. Yes, Adam get's a lot of questions about the jacket. He's had it about 20 years. Steve McQueen wore the same colours in the film Le Mans. I'm attaching a link to the website 195mph. Hopefully you can find the same or something similar. www.195mph.com/grandprix-originals-m4

    • @catherineunlimited
      @catherineunlimited  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Elias! It's a Gulf leather jacket. Unfortunately the company that made it don't manufacture them anymore. There are other companies making similar versions though so you could try searching for 'Gulf leather jacket' or 'Gulf Tag leather jacket' as they were the sponsor at the time. You may be lucky to pick up a second hand one somewhere. Good luck!

      The "Battle Green" (i.e., olive green) color is presently reserved in India for the Military under your 'Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, Rule 121 (Chapter 5)' shown at www.team-bhp.com/forum/attachments/modifications-accessories/418542-military-green-not-allowed-private-vehicles-3.jpg.

      Robert Hillman. I have to agree with you there, I have it on a couple of my bikes as the pipes are rusty in places, it looks a lot better if you keep it blacked.

    this thing is vibrating like hell and brakes don`t work. Want something tok tok tok tok.... at 60kmph and be the one how is banged from behind? This is not for our roads. Answer is NO. You should not buy one. This bike belong to the graveyard of ancient times. 6000 EUR in europe !!! What a rip off. I ordered a new RE Meteor Fireball last week. It is not fast, but at least refined and proper priced at 3999.
