I often times get skunked when sampling different area's of our claim. You're very informative on what to look for in a quartz vein. Just before you said you're limited to hand tools in Victoria, I was thinking 'man a dry shaker would do you some good... bad for your ears but good on your pack out.' Also can you ask my 21 personalities to return to me and stop stealing them all! I'm down to 2 so I'm simply beside myself!

These kind of process videos are really interesting. They provide insight and are, as you say, the antidote to every video being "wow, look at all this gold!" I would totally watch more of this, especially something on how you do your research to find these places to go to..... without giving away your sites too much, of course!

Okay so back at the mine and doing the sampling as it has to be done to find the best spot I guess. Great video and of course some good laughs as well. Looks like you found where to search next and looking forward to that, stay safe....

Hey Chris, do you ever process the fines left in the wheelbarrow at a later date for a bit of fun, just to see if any gold has dropped out? The results would be interesting to know, just like your porch clean up you did 😎. Cheers for the great content too ❤

That was an eye-opening result, Chris! I couldn't believe that there was more gold on the floor versus the rest. However, there was a wash leading down the hill from it. Moreover, you said this small mine was from the 1800s. I bet a bunch of gold weathered out and washed down the hill. I agree that more samples from the floor should be taken. Perhaps you might find more intact quartz veins running across the hillside under a ton of overburden! May you find many golden lumps in your pans! 😂 Hugs from Alabama ❤️

I was surprised by your mention of "Time Team" as I am a huge fan for only the last year or so. I never saw it on TV here in Pennsylvania but I stumbled unto it on TH-cam. Anyway, I really do enjoy your videos. I'm 72 years old with, of course, some health problems that limits my outdoor time but I get to tag along with you in Australia (or even New Zealand) and go mining or panning for gold. Thanks again.

I work in oil fields and there is bags we put over exhaust ports w hen putting fly ash in bins. They will not only cut dust but catch residual dust for further processing. I think it might be a great thing to attach to the bucket for your crusher just a thought. Thanks for the video!

Fascinating stuff Chris, I've learnt through watching you that I found a big hunk of mineralised quartz on the side of a valley locally that was basically falling apart in my hands, it even smelt sulphurous ....I now know why I was attracted to investigating it but cannot for the life of me remember where it was.......Typical
I am busting to see how this series goes...any spoilers deeply appreciated lol 🤣

Hi buddy I solved my dust problem with some 100 mm plastic down pipe with mini sprinklers inside it, I had a y fork at the lowest point sitting in a bucket of water to collect the mud and attach a vac on a riser from the high end. The dust is drawn into a bucket were the heavy’s stay a flex hose takes the dust to 50 to 100 fitting on the y , the dust is stripped from the air. It works great . Cheers

Awesome video! You do a rad job. Natural weathering processes release gold from sulphides (oxidation), which is easily recoverable by crushing and gravity sep. That's why a lot of early prospects (1860's) were only worked down to fresh rock that contained gold but still locked up in sulphides. So maybe your prospect was abandoned because the old timers didn't have the means or access to processes like cyanide leaching that allow recovery of gold from sulphides. Have you pegged that ground yet?

With the dust coming from the crusher I think a shade cloth tent with water dripping over it might help. I haven't tried this but I'd put an extention tube on then form a triangle cage, cover with flyscreen/shade cloth with water supply dripping at the top

Thanks for the hard work you put into making these videos. I´m hooked to see you making nice progress with your systematic prospection work at this mine. I see it starts to pay off, even with surprise gold. May I suggest, to sample also the dirt in the dump area where you had the most gold specimens. Chances are, that the fine gold content is high as well and dirt has the advantage, that you do not have to process the quartz, you just need to pan or have a dry blower at the site as suggested in earlier comments. Anyway, well done, it was really great to watch. All the best, Chris.
