Painting it black on white plastic instead of molding it black is one crazy decision. Plenty of people already had paint chips
Yeah that really was a mind boggling decision, doesn’t make any sense. I get it on the chest and the head but every thing else should be black plastic

Overall I Love this guy. I got lucky with the paint. My complaints are with the knee joints catching, so you have to tuck them in, feet pop off a bit too easy, and the upper torso will pop off if you get too crazy with the posing. Still one of the best Spidey figures ever tho!
I agree he’s up there as one of the best Spidey figures, those little issues he has makes it hard to justify the price but I do love it

Yeah, I think thwip hands are appropriate, there’s been several times were Spidey had a black suit, and it wasn’t the Symbiote

Excellent review man,I’ve always loved black suit Spidey! I love Mafex but yes 100 percent with you,we shouldn’t have to touch up imperfections on our expensive figures.
Dope review. This figure is def fun in hand.
Despite the issues, I love this figure so much I wish I still had that initial hasbro black suit and the ToyBiz classics version. You know, so I could do a full on black suit Spidey party. This even makes me want to get the Select version just so I can get that awesome gargle rooftop base to recreate Web of Spider-Man #1. Well, the retro one would be more suited for that set-up. I'm glad they went with the '90s McFarlane look, cause I definitely prefer the bigger eyes as opposed to the smaller grey alien looking ones. And you don't get the nose shape and brow creases with the classic look.
Yeah I think a full on black suit spidey display would look great!
This is my first mafex spidey and I love it, having such great time posing it but sadly I got some issues, like they gave me two left feet and the magnets don’t support the figure. Yeah that’s sucks, but I’m having fun with this guy overall.

This figure is moneyyy. I’ve been playing with mine non-stop since I got him a couple weeks ago. You’re absolutely right about the qc though. Mafex QC has come a long way but it’s still not good enough, some of this shit is unacceptable at this price.
I really wish I had this the symbiote suit is so cool it's my number 1 favorite suit because I think it's pretty cool with it's story line and how he gets rid of it
I got 2 . He is super fire. But no simping , bad paint is not chill for this price range.

@@UnparalleledUniverse all right I checked it ; it’s not as good as the first one I own, which kind of sucks, but it is not messed up enough for me to take the route of returning it. I love Mafex especially the comic book figures that they have the rights to do,but I do wish SH figuarts had the rights to comic stuff they have better qc.

My copy came out with the torso and neck joints so tight it's actually hard to pose him around. Also the neck piece frictions with the torso piece when I make it look down, causing some noticeable color rub on the neck. Idk if I'm the one with bad luck or if everyone else is having the same issues

While I have personally been VERY lucky with QC on my Mafex figures to date, that is obviously not the case with everyone. So I can definitely see where you are coming from and I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation on your (or anyone's part). I'm definitely willing to overlook something on a $25 figure that I would be more critical of on a $75 figure. That said, I also agree this figure is crazy good over all. What I'm really hoping for as we go forward though is maybe SHF really step up THEIR game when it comes to the comic book side if for no other reason than to keep that fire lit under Mafex's but and make sure they don't get complacent.

I personally slightly prefer the mezco one because I love soft goods and I actually think the articulation is pretty comparable I think accessoires are pretty even because I like the mafexs unmasked head but I prefer mezcos web effects and I like the height on the mezco one more so I slightly prefer mezco but mafex is still good
When it comes to imports amiami and mandarake is best

@@UnparalleledUniverse mandarake is the best place to buy figures which were sold out at retail or old figures in general. Since they deals with old figures (not necessarily 2nd hand ) prices are sometimes very low . You can get figures which were sold out during release too or can just buy used figures at cheap price . Highly recommended
Nah this release coulda been way better. They dropped the ball on quality on this. Coulda been my number 1 this year.
For sure if could have. The figure itself is amazing but the QC issues take it down a bit even if they are easily fixed. Too expensive to have to deal with that
@@UnparalleledUniverse also the main issue with this guy is the white plastic being used in the wrong places. He has some parts that are black plastic so why didnt they make the neck and shoulders black plastic?? Those are the places that get the most paint chipping due to that. Such a dumb move on mafexs part

All the joints are good and move nicely. The shoulder will pop out on my if I push it but everything else feels great!

They move and feel great, sturdy but not too tight and nothing loose,

They sent a whole new figure but I had to send the bad one back first.
Cool figure, but I actually prefer the bulkier version so I'm satisfied with my Marvel Legends one.

I have him in the pile but I want to ship him once the scarlet and classic colors spidey drop round Xmas, and I agree most spiderman figures really lack the gadgets and webbing styles he has, he's a super smart guy not just someone in a suit and the right accessories could help go a long way with options to pose and display over a web line and set of hands(which are still important), but sadly that would put a figure like this well into the $200 range
Those arent likely to drop this year. And scarlets date is in 2023

That white neck painted and rubbing off is not new. The blue Hush Batman has it and all the TDKR Batmen has that too! Plain stupid!

Yea I was pretty upset with amiami they sent me one with the worst paint defects. The lines on his chest were like a preschooler colored them in. Then they told me they’d replace it but they can’t promise it’s not gonna look like trash again…. Like maybe just look at it before you ship it…? It’s a clear box. I ain’t paying $90 for a figure that looks like trash. I just got my money back I’m good.

I got mine and while I think he’s a great figure overall, Mafex continues to disappoint me with their paint quality at this price point. I see a lot of of sloppy examples online and that paint chipping looks like it’s going to be a MAJOR issue for a lot of people as more time passes by.

This is the first mafex figure I've own, I gotta say I am disappointed as it is a $100 figure and it came with very stiff drop down hips and a left arm that always pops off, I guess I will stick with s.h figuarts. Nice review anyways.
Same. The left arm on my Spidey always wants to pop off when I mess with the tight butterfly joint too much. It's odd because the right arm and right butterfly joint are perfect.
@@FoxsDumbSeriesMaker yeah man, and my left arm doesn't move the same as the right arm, if I try to get the same range of movement from the left arm as the right arm does it pops off from the inside of the butterfly joint.

Considering Sentinel released a perfect Spider-Man first time out, Mafex need to step up their game to compete. They have been using this same body mould shape for almost 4 years and this is the 4th figure to use it, with another 3 to be released and they still have qc issues, with most of their figures in general. The articulation is also lacking, especially for a Spidey where this one cannot do a crouching pose. After owning this and 75 other Mafex figures, I am getting frustrated with their inconsistent quality. This figure only gets a pass for it's shortcomings by most people because of the iconic design or it's their first Mafex Spidey.
What do you mean? My 075 and Symbiote can do a 4 point crouch.
@@spoodurmin9742 A proper crouching pose like the Sentinel Spider-Verse Peter Parker? All 4 of mine: the reissue, comic paint, Ben Reilly and this black suit are ok in posing but can nowhere near bend or lift their legs as much as the Sentinel to get a proper crouching pose. The Mafex figs are ok, don't get me wrong, I have been collecting them for 6 years, but owning the Sentinel shows really how good a 6 inch figure(a Spidey in particular in this case), should be.
@@cookedit Yeah, a proper crouching pose is possible. It takes a bit of playing around to figure out how to do it but it’s definitely possible, I’ve seen it done by others on Instagram and myself. You are right about the Sentinel fig though, but that’s only because the sentinel figure has those ugly indents in the hamstrings so the calves dont get in the way of the range of motion of the knees.
@@spoodurmin9742 Dude. The legs don't bend all the way on the Mafex the way the Sentinel does and the idents on it aren't that bad, as who poses their figure showing the back of the thighs anyway? The thighs don't raise as high and the ab doesn't crunch forward as much on the Mafex. The pose I am talking about is 1 leg folded flush, laying on the ground and the other thigh raised up with leg bent at the knee with the foot planted, supporting it and the upper body pointing forward in a 90 degree angle. No Mafex figure can do that. None of the 75 Mafex figures in my collection can. Only Revoltech can match the Sentinel for articulation but at the cost of sculpt and very visible articulation points. The Sentinel has shown what Mafex is lacking in material, paint, articulation, joints and overall quality, in which it also leaves Revoltech, Figma and SHF behind. I am talking as a owner. Watch Wade's own review on the Sentinel Pete, or every other TH-cam video if you don't believe me. And I am talking as a big Mafex fan who has invested $1000's on Mafex figures and still will, another 23 on pre-order to be released.
