Back in the day I had a choice to go to the MTA or Academy Bus in Hoboken. I chose Academy. I am glad I did, being a professional motor coach operator was very rewarding and fun. Driving the animals in New York City is dangerous and stressful. Taking people on trips who respect you is as good as it gets. I retired after 26 years.

Training a driver with someone constantly saying stuff like, look right, left, front, hazard, look at this, at that, is VERY UNSAFE and STRESSFUL. Just #$% leave the driver, drive, no need to point every freaking thing on the road. Btw i'm a city bus driver for the past 8 years, if i had a trainer like that i would have told him to shut the hell up.
my brother has a class A ! They called him after waiting 4 years, When he was in class for the MTA bus driver, They pulled him out and said he needed to downgrade from the Class A to a Class B permit, In order to continue ! Is this True ?
It depends. If your brother took a road test ONLY in a Tractor-Trailer, then yes, this is correct. If your brother took a road test in BOTH a bus and a tractor-trailer, then this is incorrect, and whoever said this to him should be written up to the Governor's Office, DMV, US DOT, etc. to make sure they get in trouble for this.

I am a Transportation Instructor for MTA in Baltimore and that Instructor method of facilitating will make some one who never operated a large vehicle very nervous. I strongly recommend to see just enough and see what the individual can do.
The instructor is very aggressive because the intensity of what’s to come in the real world will put even the most experienced drivers under a lot of stress.
