- I recently got the new Blue Note release Elvin Jones Revival: Live at Pookie's Pub, and was inspired to make a quick video about one of Elvin's favorite , commonly used phrases. Hope you enjoy the demo. I highly recommend getting the afore-mentioned album, it's absolutely burning!
Thanks for watching and please subscribe!
Man, you make a set of drums sound really good
thanks Dave!
I’m here…. I’m baffled by jazz drumming but I’m here…. Watching in awe at the skills on display…..
Slow and steady!! 😁
Some fantastic playing. It's amazing how many variations there are within the same phrase and how much you can do with just a 4 piece kit. Thanks.
Now we are talking. That is stuff I am looking for. And the explanation works so well for me. Big thank you for sharing and the quality content!
Thank you for thinking a Elvin frase through. Technical proficiency and drumming overview combined.
I like that little set.
Thanks for this lesson !
cool little nugget. thanks!
Thank you so much !
Thank you George ❤️
Very nice playing and very good sound too ! Thanks
Killer! Thanks for this!
George, you sound like Elvin. This is a great video. I often wondered about what Elvin played, and now i know...thank you!
so fire ! Great playing
George thanks for the great content! Just subscribed, please keep up with these jazz drumming language videos. Very helpful! All the best and keep swinging!
My pleasure, thanks!
Thanks George. That was a very cool drum lick, Elvin Jones is great. Nice solo work on that kit as well.
Superb thanks 😊
Thank you Mr. Fludas! I’ve always wondered how he played this; really inspiring to see and hear how he used really simple rudimental ideas to create a such wall of sound. Genius! Well played
Keep ‘em coming!
Great playing and sound, Sir. I wonder how old is that Gretsch...regards
Thank you for this video
Well played, thanks for the lick ! Also good tuning and great sound. What microphone are you using ?
thats really great !
Happy to see the Elvin analysis. As a rock drummer, I've always found his style to be a bit baffling.
3:50 hes human after all. thank you for this video, your playing is always inspiring.
Oh yeah!
snappy fat sound, great!!!! extra punch instead of soft boppy tiny sound! but still jazzy
What you play 1st, Starting (with the R-accenting first note) Paradiddle-L isn't that a variation on the 5 stroke roll?
I'm not really sure because I'm not playing a double stroke in the left hand. But it is five strokes
