Many female viewers did not register or don't want to acknowledge that this was a forced marriage between a man and. a child (she is not even baligh) and her father forced her. In Pakistani context, girls obey their parents as they often have no other place to go and no source of support. People like our society normalize force and emotional blackmail is widely used by elders/parents to get their way. Mehru had nowhere to turn even if she had said NO 20-30 years ago because her father died and left everything to her "husband" who knew she did not want to marry and who started off their "marriage" by stripping her of her identity. It is not difficult to see why our society and culture is so misogynistic when you have comments downplaying the force saying "oh he loved her and left her all and their kids saw nothing and that she could have said no, she didn't get divorced, she stayed, had kids etc" and that she should spend her iddat mourning this man. The understanding of abusive marriages and forced marriages have escaped these people's minds.
@@saira_6151 yeah like these people don't even understand that when you're stripped of your identity, conditioned and groomed from such a young age, in a relation where the power dynamics are so unbalanced, it makes it extremely hard to ever leave.
The person being groomed doesn't even realise just how wrong and abusive this is, because everything they're learning is from the groomer, who holds great power over them because they're much older, cleverer and can claim to know better.

@@Mina-gk8jm totally agree. It has become clear that in our culture women too are the torch. bearers of misogyny and patriarchy. They have no understanding of the things you mention. Groming is a foreign thing apparently. One commentator demanded the iddat be used to show her "husband" respect and that he be mourned and instead she is almost celebratory. No understanding of emotional trauma which is not just magically erased by time. They say shouldve loved him. People also don't even know what iddat means and they worry about her loosening her hair (a symbolic act) and focus on her dress code and the "unwillingness" to mourn him and that she should be grateful that her father forcibly married her off to "secure" future. I am at loss for words when I read such comments but it explains how messed up our culture is.

It's amazing how some people have completely missed/ignored that the marriage between Mehru and Hidayatullah was forced (19:00-20:12). She was clearly under age and said no. Abusive marriages can take many forms.
