Many female viewers did not register or don't want to acknowledge that this was a forced marriage between a man and. a child (she is not even baligh) and her father forced her. In Pakistani context, girls obey their parents as they often have no other place to go and no source of support. People like our society normalize force and emotional blackmail is widely used by elders/parents to get their way. Mehru had nowhere to turn even if she had said NO 20-30 years ago because her father died and left everything to her "husband" who knew she did not want to marry and who started off their "marriage" by stripping her of her identity. It is not difficult to see why our society and culture is so misogynistic when you have comments downplaying the force saying "oh he loved her and left her all and their kids saw nothing and that she could have said no, she didn't get divorced, she stayed, had kids etc" and that she should spend her iddat mourning this man. I myself faced this in my family . l don't know why people don't prefer to donate in orphanages and do rest of the proceedings in the home by themselves . To be honest in these times people don't usually contrate on reading (Quran/paras) instead they contrate on gossips and all .

In Pakistani context, girls obey their parents as they often have no other place to go and no source of support. People like our society normalize force and emotional blackmail is widely used by elders/parents to get their way. Mehru had nowhere to turn even if she had said NO 20-30 years ago because her father died and left everything to her "husband" who knew she did not want to marry and who started off their "marriage" by stripping her of her identity. It is not difficult to see why our society and culture is so misogynistic when you have comments downplaying the force saying "oh he loved her and left her all and their kids saw nothing and that she could have said no, she didn't get divorced, she stayed, had kids etc" and that she should spend her iddat mourning this man. The understanding of abusive marriages and forced marriages have escaped these people's minds.

Groming is a foreign thing apparently. One commentator demanded the iddat be used to show her "husband" respect and that he be mourned and instead she is almost celebratory. No understanding of emotional trauma which is not just magically erased by time. They say shouldve loved him. People also don't even know what iddat means and they worry about her loosening her hair (a symbolic act) and focus on her dress code and the "unwillingness" to mourn him and that she should be grateful that her father forcibly married her off to "secure" future. I am at loss for words when I read such comments but it explains how messed up our culture is.
