Someone who was born in india and took his last breath in Kolkata cannot be Bangladeshi. DevDas is a Bengali word, no doubt. But you know what a dev is right? It means God in sanskrit.
Devdas has always been popular and devdasi too which is a completely different concept. These are common names of hindu babies and devdas novel and other novels of Bengali writers are fairly popular in india like Rabindranath tagore ji. We study them in school.
