    With the Amex Green card one can easily go without the Amex Gold and run an Amex Green and Amex Platinum setup excellent duo! 1x less is no big deal for restaurants and Amex offers other excellent grocery credit cards!

    My initial reaction was just go ahead and hold the Gold, be patient, go for the Plat when you can get a 150k SUB, and carry both. But you have a travel plan and timeline that kind of dictates a different strategy, so I understand.

      It was a toss up. Patients hasn’t been my strong suit for me with credit cards 😂 but hey maybe in the future.

    Good deal.....the 2 player aproach is a brilliant way to double dip without the 5/24 issue or hard pulls

      @Spend.Earn.Travel.  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Absolutely! It can effectively double your possible SUB points having a player two. Plus the ability to get the referral bonus!

    That's a great strategy to get the platinum card without giving up your 5/24 goal

    $6000 / 6 months spend for 100,000 MR points with no hard pull and no new account is HUGE.
    My upgrafe offer was $6000 / 6 months for 75,000 MR points.
    Congratulations! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

    Yes you should have applied for the 175K for Plat (or 150K before 175K came out), since you actually can earn BOTH Plat new card intro, and a Plat upgrade bonus. Confirmed with the Amex agent directly. But if you do the upgrade now, then you no longer qualify for new Card intro as their term included " if you had any version of Plat before".
    Slight missed opportunity.

      True. But the goal was to stay under chase 5/24. I did try to apply for the card on its own but was only offered 80,000 points. So for me the upgrade offer was higher.

    With all due respect (I mean that ) this gentleman has an eerily similar vocal cadence , hand position and gestures like Daniel Braun … is it just me ? . Quality vid nonetheless !

    To be honest, I don't travel very often. So it would be a waste for me to upgrade from my gold card. I happen to eat out quite often, so it would be detrimental to my credit profile to give up my american express gold card.

      If you don’t travel much, not getting the platinum card makes sense. The Gold card is great. I be getting that again at some point!

      Another consideration would be to get the Charles Schwab Platnium with a nice 100/125k SUB, hit the spend requirement and then you can combine gold and plat MR points and transfer to the Schwab Brokerage Account. Vanguard and Fidelity has nice ETFs that consistantly perform @8-10% year on year. Just the return on my investment account can make up for the annual fee the first year. Travel 5X plus some of the other credits can make up for the annual fee.

    I don’t see it will affect your 5/24 when you apply for the platinum it will be a soft pull not a hard pull sense you already have the gold, I got all my Chase cards(unlimited, Flex and Preferred) before I apply for the Gold, Want the platinum but I’m in pop up jail and can’t get the SUB with the platinum, I can go the route you took and upgrade my gold card but my offer is 25,000 MR points so it’s not worth it, Currently trying to finished my Blue Cash preferred SUB and hopefully after that I will try to apply for the platinum again, The credit I planning to do is Walmart, Saks, Digital, Clear, Dining credit and that will offset the annual fee to $0 dollars but I have to get the card first

      I waited and eventually they changed the 25000 to 75000, I jumped on it immediately. Be patient!

      I think it still counts towards 5/24 since it’s a new open account on your credit if you apply for the plat vs upgrading
